I could fix her but I like her the way she is
The strongest theme of The Pitt for me is how nothing is how the public expects it. You think you know how unhoused people look like? No, he can be a fourth year med student doing his best. CSA survivor with a best friend who committed suicide? she's the meanest R1 who is not letting injustice slide and gets so excited about every procedure. The addict and the woman going through a miscarriage are the most competent senior residents you've ever seen. The attending saving the day at the last minute is an amputee.
Noah Wyles and his team really said "Nothing in ER departments is how it's supposed to be from the 12-hour wait times to the lack of blood, but people going through what would be anybody else's worst day are the only thing keeping the american healthcare system together"

this is what my suicide notes look like
Actually, he didn't want to partner with me.
But the coach matched us. It's like an arranged marriage (…).
It's funny how, sometimes, we put our future in the hands of someone who we barely know.
I tried to befriend him, asked for his name, what he liked, and what he didn't like.
When he was mad, I had to make it up to him (…).
I know I said he should partner with someone else, but deep down I'm glad that he hasn't found himself a partner yet.
Today when I was in that restaurant, I felt like a heartbroken man.
I guess I really like him.
Benton & Carter: *rarely physically affectionate in the show, only happens on rare occasions to emphasize importance*

You guys are totally in sync. You must have dated a long time to get that way.
still thinking about langdon's beef with santos and how she probably thinks it's an ego thing, but it's actually a You Broke The Rules thing, which she does multiple times (doesn't justify the way he yelled at her later, but it's hardly like it was out of nowhere, you know?)
the crike case really illustrates the point, too, because while santos generally has net positive results that shift, she could've killed that guy. it's why the present the case and clear stuff with a senior resident or attending is kind of important. and then!! she has the audacity to ask to do the crike lmao. having mel do the crike is very much a reestablishment of the seniority order there. if it had been just an ego thing, langdon would've done it himself, i think. instead it was more of a no you're an intern the second year resident will do this one take a seat.
i wouldnt be surprised to learn that langdon behaved similarly when he was an intern, and that he also was reprimanded for it. and if so, it'd also explain why he's such a stickler for that particular set of rules. especially so, id argue, because he has adhd and adhd also comes with a certain level of rigidity (in this case, relying heavily on an external rule to inhibit behavior). seeing santos break that rule more than once had kill bill sirens going in that man's head! and who knows if he would have blown up at her were it not for the whole drug habit on the verge of being discovered -- not unlike robby fumbling the confrontation with langdon later re: the drugs, since robby is having a shit day and the ptsd is running wild). was langdon being a hypocrite since he was, you know, breaking the rules by stealing drugs? absolutely. it adds to the robby parallels, our repression king.
and you wanna know what? this is why i think langdon is the one actually being set up to become santos's mentor.
