(Author's Note: Now we get to see what Demetria's mother thinks about this! Hehehe...)
Demetria woke up to the sound of arguing.
"No, she's an adult now. Demetria doesn't need to go school now that she's at the age of nineteen!"
"Well, clearly she needs a way to rein in her powers; they're already out of control! We saw what happened with the castle, and she was barely able to take back control over the blizzard, but even then, your daughter passed out from using her powers on her own. She needs help."
Demetria groaned. "Will both of you PLEASE shut up!?" she shouted, startling the the two out of their argument.
"You know what? That was a fair reaction, and I'm sorry that we were too loud." Merlina acknowledged, making Scylla snort in amusement.
"Funny, but I gotta go. Have fun, you two!" Scylla said, teleporting away before anyone had the chance to reply.
Mother and daughter proceeded to have a staring contest. It was a serious business. Merlina hissed, "You left without telling anyone what you were doing or where you were."
Demetria growled. "Scylla knew!"
"But she's unpredictable, and you knew that!"
"So you're saying you don't have faith in me or Scylla, is that it?" Demetria jabbed.
Merlina remembered conversations like this before, where she and her daughter argued about the lone missions Sylvia, Hikari, and their parents agreed on sending Demetria on. Merlina sighed. "You're not ready to face the world with your ice powers spiraling out of control like this."
Demetria narrowed her eyes at this, looking distinctively like she was when her powers first manifested, almost destroying an empire in her awakening.
Merlina whispered, "Little Ice Queen, please trust me when I say this; the more you keep trying to tame your powers, the more they're not going to listen. Rest yourself a bit, PLEASE." Merlina's thoughts pleaded to Demetria that she would listen.
Which Demetria did, softening at her mother's upset expression. Demetria would do anything for her mom when she got like this. Demetria sighed. "Fine, but just for today."
Merlina smiled. "Thank you."
(Author's Note: Deck the halls with boughs of holly falalalala -)
"What?"
"You heard me! Do you remember that different universes have different time zones?" Mango sassed.
In true karma fashion, an Abstraction slithered up to Scylla. When Scylla looked at it, it starts to squeak, "Squeaky squeakatty-squeakins." Scylla nods.
Much like a cat, Mango freaks out. "AAAAAAAAAA -"
Scylla growled, asking Mango, "Then why are you here -"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA -" Mango continued screaming.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, in Mango's home dimension, Kiui sighed as Hikari rushed into the room, shouting, "What happened?! Where's Mango?! Is everything okay? Do I need to -" Hikari paused her worried tirade, looking at a very calm eleven-year-old, who said, "Mom, I think Mango needs therapy."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scylla asked the Abstraction, "Oscar, can you please calm Mango down for me, please?"
Oscar nodded, slithering up to Mango. "Squeak -"
HISS!!
Mango bared her teeth, her tail puffing in fear as she tried to look bigger in front of the larger Abstraction. This turned into a huge fight between the two gremlins. Scylla smiled, secretly missing the little family play-fights they had half the time.
Aite gasped, pulling Ajal closer. Adam's expression went blank in shock. Ajal's expression was filled with an unreadable amount of anger.
Scylla's ears flattened in fear of what will come in the future. Scylla looked at the glass walls of the watch post and whispered, "Where's Diana and Sophia?"
Ajal pointed below the watchpost. Scylla sighed in defeat, walking towards the trapdoor and pulling it open. Climbing down the semi-dark ladder, Scylla was greeted by Sophia.
"So, guess who came to this dimension." Sophia said cheerfully.
Thinking that this was another joke, Scylla replied darkly, "The Sons of Heephis."
"WHAT??!!!!!" Sophia gasped in shock, covering her mouth. As Scylla walked towards the first room, Scylla ground out angrily, "Yeah, apparently the Sons of Heephis came back for their first mission."
Sophia shook her head fearfully, saying in a subdued voice, "I don't like where this is going."
Diana ran out of one of the rooms in this basement, asking, "What's happening? I heard Sophia shout-" Diana looked at Scylla's serious face, and physically cringed at her expression.
Scylla said darkly, "The Sons of Heephis are back."
Diana sucked in a breath, muttering, "I presume we're going to go upstairs talk about this."
Scylla nodded.
Five minutes later, Diana, Scylla, and Sophia had climbed upstairs to see Adam, Ajal, and Aite looking at them fearfully. The pack sat down in a circle. Aite, Adam, Sophia, Ajal, and Diana finally started speaking their minds.
"Why are they here?"
"What are their intentions?"
"Have they changed?"
"Are they even themselves?"
"Shouldn't we be keeping an eye on them?"
"What should we do?"
"ENOUGH!!!!!" Scylla shouted. Everyone went silent. Scylla took a deep breath, and said calmly, "As much as I don't like this as much as you do, I have made my decision long before this had ever been brought up." The pack looked at each other fearfully. Scylla closed her eyes, and said in a dark growl, "We're leaving this territory at dusk."
Third Person POV
An inky tentacle grabs the Ink Demon and slams him to the wall. A cartoon-themed woman walks up to him, the ink following behind her. The cartoon-woman had scales covering the top half of her face, black eyes, ink for hair, a long, black dress, and black claws on her hands. She looked as if she could kill the Ink Demon if she wanted to. "Now, listen here, mister." She hissed to the Ink Demon. "The next time you try to harm these two, I will personally take precautions to make sure you never do this again. Do. You. Understand?"
Alinta's POV
"Betcha that's Kaiso." Dark Alinta snarked, sipping a glass of wine from who-knows-where.
"I know that's Kaiso." I replied darkly.
"Well, fuck."
Third Person POV
Audra clung to Alinta for dear life as the Ink Demon mumbled an apology. The cartoon woman pointed out of the hallway, to which the Ink Demon reluctantly obeyed silently. When the Ink Demon had finally disappeared, the cartoon woman looked inside of the room Audra and Alinta were in and hissed, "You're lucky I was there. Next time, it'll be a lot worse."
"Girl, he was just going to leave anyway. It's part of the game mechanic." Alinta pointed out.
The cartoon woman rolls her eyes. "Whatever." She said as she skulked back to wherever she came from.
"What was that?" Audra whispered, her tail puffed up from the jumpscares.
"You don't want to know. Trust me." Alinta growled, climbing out of the room.
They went through the halls silently by Audra using her air magic again to lift them onto the ceiling. The two girls soon found the way to the elevators. Alinta and Audra walked through the halls when suddenly the announcements came on - for the third time in a row. However, Audra and Alinta ignored them and continued their way to the elevators. Audra went ahead of Alinta and found a fence. "Alinta! There's a big fence in the way of the elevators!"
"Why do you think I'm all the way over here?" Alinta asked on the right side of the fence, the rusty smell of metal melting rising. "I'm making room for us to go to the elevator!"
"...Oh. Well, I'm glad you're here!" Audra says optimistically.
25 minutes later...
Alinta has finished melting the fence and now Audra and Alinta are going down to the elevator. They then saw the terrifying scene of the Ink Demon eating a Lost One.
Alinta's POV
"Shit, shit, shit, SHIT!!!" I panicked. "We were just supposed to -"
"Shut the hell up, I'm trying to think." Dark Alinta growled. Then she snapped her fingers. "Get your little crush closer to you and use your moonlight to shield the two of you from the damn thing."
"What?"
"Just do it before you two get killed."
Third Person POV
Alinta pulled Audra closer behind her before wrapping them both in a moonlit ball to avoid being spotted by the Ink Demon. The ball disappeared. "Whooaaa. Where are we?" Audra whispered.
Alinta rolled her eyes. "We're-"
Alinta's POV
"The Ink Demon's gone now. You can get out of the ball." Dark Alinta interrupted.
"Go to hell."
"Already there, failed reincarnation." Dark Alinta teased.
"UuuuuuggghhAAAAA-"
Third Person POV
Releasing the two from the magic ball, Alinta and Audra went into the elevator and took the path up. The Keeper started speaking after a few moments. Alinta and Audra ignored it until it said, "Manual lift ejection activated."
"Wait what?" Audra yelped.
"Son of a bitch!" Alinta growled. The elevator stoped moving for a second, and then plummeted straight down. The two girls screamed until impact.
As Alinta and Audra regained consciousness, Audra was the first one to notice the Ink Spiders. "Uh, Alinta?"
"What now?" Alinta groaned, lifting herself up to look around.
"There's a lot of spiders around us." Audra replied. She yelped as one spider tried to bite her. "And they're hungry."
"Wait, wha - Oh... Well, fuck." Alinta grabbed the Gent Pipe and put it back into her belt. Looking at the beams, she spotted some switches. "Audra, flip the switches on those beams."
"Those ones?" Audra asked, pointing in the same direction as Alinta was looking.
"Yes, those ones." Alinta replied. "Avoid the spiders and flip those switches."
"Got it." Audra stood up and extended a claw, running to get started. Alinta transformed into her wolf form and started attacking the spiders.
2 minutes later...
"No. Fuck no. You can't be serious. Absolutely not. No way..." Alinta ranted as she watched the large queen of the spiders she had just defeated rise out of the floor.
Audra, who had finished flipping all of the switches, called out, "Do you want some help?" She looked at the spider and gasped. "No, it didn't."
"Yes, it did." Alinta replied, stepping away from the spider.
"It came back to haunt us!" Audra said.
Alinta corrected Audra with, "This is a different kind of spider." Alinta looked behind her to find a power outlet.
Alinta's POV
"That should work!" I think.
"What can - Oh." Dark Alinta said. "Nope, nope, nope! Have fun with the spider!" She left.
I blinked. "So you can deal with the Ink Demon, but you back down at the sight of a spider?!" I shout.
Third Person POV
"Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!" Audra chanted as she slammed the spider onto the floor with all different types of air magic.
Alinta grabbed her Gent Pipe, twirled it around, and then inserted it into the socket, flipping the switch and opening the circular entrance to the dark abyss. Audra slammed the ink spider down that drain, causing the spider's death and its legs to be ripped off. "Holy Lucifer, that was a close one." Alinta breathed, panting heavily.
"The next time I see a spider, I'll kill it." Audra growled.
"Come on and let's move." Alinta said, dragging Audra toward the next room. Going down the hall, they opened a door and reached another phone-thingy. Alinta knocked on it, asking gruffly, "Aliiice? You there?"
"Alinta! Audra! Where are you?" Alice asked.
"Don't know, but we killed a couple of spiders." Audra shrugged.
"Spiders? Stay there, I'm coming to find you." Alice said.
"We're not gonna listen, are we?" Alinta asked.
"Nope." Audra replied.
"Well, then. Let's just go on." Alinta said, moving out of the hallway with Audra following behind.
5 minutes later...
Audra gasped. There was a wild tiny Bendy in the hallway. Alinta used her newly created thingamajig to scan the danger of the baby boy as Audra shouted, "BABY BOOOY! HI!" The Bendy took notice, and in turn ran away. Audra's heart broke, shattering into a million pieces as Audra sank to the floor dramatically, face-first on the ground as she whimpered, "No..."
Alinta's POV
Interesting... He's more dangerous than we anticipated. I'm not going to ruin it for Audra though. She'd be devastated if she knew.
Third Person POV
Alinta snapped her gadget close and looked up to see that Bendy was gone. "Oh, Bendy's gone."
"And you just noticed that NOW?!?!?" Audra shrieked.
"Scylla. Scylla! SCYLLA!! Wake up!" A female voice said. Someone shook Scylla awake.
Scylla groaned, opening her eyes to the bright sun and a familiar woman.
"Aite? Did I have another nightmare?" Scylla mumbled, her head a little fuzzy from the nightmare.
Latest development of the Dark Gaia pack over the past few months was that the Dark Gaia pieces became werewolves. That means that the Dark Gaia pieces' human forms had characteristics relative to their former master.
Aite nodded, her violet eyes as dark as the night. "You started screaming in your sleep. Again."
Scylla sighed, sitting up and leaning against the sandy wall of the dune. Scylla noticed a man with violet hair and navy blue eyes walking up to Aite and Scylla. Scylla stood up and asked, "Any signs of the Soulless, Adam?"
Adam shook his head. "No, Alpha Scylla. It seems they left. But..."
Scylla growled. "But what?"
Adam shook his head. "Diana, Sophia, and Ajal wanted to tell you and Aite about it."
Aite and Scylla looked at each other with surprised expressions. Aite telepathically asked Scylla, "Could it be...Them?"
Scylla shook her head, telepathically replying with, "No, it can't be. They're with the demigods." Scylla transmitted the last word with a growl. "They should be as stuck-up as them now."
Adam cleared his throat, clearly eavesdropping on the telepathic conversation Scylla and Aite were having. Adam asked, "So, are we going to the other pack members now, or -"
"Of course we are. Let's see how they fared." Scylla intercepted.
Scylla grabbed her bow and quiver of arrows, slinging them onto her back. Then, Scylla, Adam, and Aite started to walk the ten-kilometer distance towards the makeshift watch post.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About an hour later, Scylla, Aite, and Adam entered the watch post, which was made of beige-colored glass. As they entered, they saw Ajal looking at them expectantly. His blue-violet eyes are impossible to miss.
"Where is Diana and Sophia, Ajal?" Scylla asked impatiently.
"Can I say something before I answer?" Ajal asked meekly.
"Alpha Scylla, Ajal has our news. I suggest we listen to him first." Adam said.
Scylla sighed. Looking at Ajal, Scylla said formally, "Forgive me. I haven't been in the best mood lately, and I just woke up an hour beforehand."
Ajal nods in understanding, saying in a more serious tone, "I understand. But three Mobians have arrived in the desert just about 190 miles from here."
Aite asked, "Were they demigods? We've been seeing them several times on our daily hunts."
Scylla cringed at the thought of more demigods entering the desert. Ajal said seriously, "Not this time. They felt more like gods than demigods."
Scylla froze like a deer in headlights. That description...It feels so familiar, yet it didn't seem real. Scylla blocked her telepathic connection with her pack for a moment and listened for Sonic, Silver, and Shadow's thoughts. Once she heard them, Scylla gasped and shut it down immediately. Reopening her telepathic connection with her pack, Scylla's black eyes were wide.
Scylla looked at Adam, Aite, and Ajal worriedly. Aite asked Scylla, "What happened?"
Scylla took a deep breath, her trembling hand subconsciously curling into a fist as she said seriously, "The Sons of Heephis are back."
PLEEEAAASE HEELP! I'M BEGGING YOU! MY BRAIN IS A MESS AND I CAN'T DECIDE!
{Author's Note: A mention of Pokemon.}
{Instructions unclear; now hurdling Mango into the TADC Universe in the next chapter. :> }
"I'm sorry, YOU FROZE YOUR OWN HOUSE?!" Mango asked, horrified at what Demetria just explained.
"Y-Yeah? After seeing...animatronics." Demetria cautiously answered, just now realizing the consequences of her actions.
"Demetria Emerald Mochisolar, do you remember last year, when you had done something kind of like this before?" Mango asked, raising an eyebrow and throwing her arms up in the air to empathize her point.
"Yeah...?"
"STOP DOING THAT!" Mango shouts.
"No, I don't know how."
Inhaaaaaale. "Can I throw a goldfish at you now?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So, that's an icy situation," Mango said as she inspected Demetria's house. "At this rate, you could be stronger than Elsa herself."
Demetria groaned. "Can we PLEASE not talk about it?'
"Fine," Mango replied. "But you have to answer to Dr. Sylveon later."
The blizzard stopped as Demetria made a singular hand gesture, saying, "Sure."
Mango raised an eyebrow, smirking. "You were saying?"
"Mango, please don't -"
The two EXEs laid their baby on the rocky cliff gently, being careful to be quiet and make sure their child stays comfortable. Once the baby is settled, the female EXE kissed the baby on the forehead, whispering, "My bittersweet baby, I'm so sorry for leaving you without any parents to support and love you physically, but we will always be there for you physically." The EXE choked on her loving words, tears streaming down her face.
The male EXE held the female close, while stroking the baby's cheek gently but firmly. The male chuckled as the baby attempted to bite his hand off, murmuring, "My fierce and beautiful daughter, always be watchful and strong even in the most hopeless moments. We love you so much, Scylla." He slowly took his wife's wrists and asked her, "Are you ready, Diamond?"
Diamond nodded, "I'm ready, Quartz." The two EXEs shapeshifted into diamond-clear and quartz-black ravens, flying into their very last battle in the sky. Baby Scylla wailed for hours, the screams growing loud as a huge blast took out many EXEs in the sky, including her parents.
It was only moments after her parents died that a goddess took the baby EXE under her wing. Her name, Scylla later learned, was Helias.
Scylla would remember the traumatizing moment forever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Present day…
"Sophia!" Scylla shouted, a hint of fear flashing in her expression. That fear soon turned into anger, allowing her to fiercely spit, "Let her go, Zielo!"
Zielo chuckled. "Or else what?"
Scylla hissed, "Don't test me."
Zielo inspected Sophia closely, watching as she struggled to escape his grip. Zielo looks at Scylla, who was about ready to burn the god down. "How about a deal?" Zielo asked. "Your friend will be free, and in exchange, you become my slave."
"Don't listen to him! Run, Scylla!" Sophia pleaded, letting out a pained strangled sound and Zielo tightened his grip on her. Dang, the caring traits of werewolves are sometimes a bad trait in a dangerous situation.
Scylla thought about it. "How do I know that you're not going to break that deal? If anything, you could break her in half as soon as I start walking to seal the contract." Zielo squeezes Sophia's neck, making Sophia squeak in pain. Scylla jumped at the sound, raising her hands in surrender. "Okay, okay, fine! I give myself up! Just… Don't do anything to her."
Zielo let Sophia go, allowing her to leave as Scylla lowered her head slightly, secretly planning something under her somber expression.
So, what is she planning?
The Ini Pyramid crumbled.
Sonic had cut off a large piece of Zielo's quills.
Scylla woke up to see Adam, Sophia, and Diana worriedly staring at her. Scylla touched a feather on her face; which was located near her eyes.
Scylla panicked, asking urgently, "Where's Aite and Ajal? Are they here?"
Adam shook his head. Diana answered timidly, "Aite and Ajal went to the Ini Pyramid. When the pyramid collapsed, they didn't come back."
Scylla's eyes widened, and she sat up quickly, only to feel the blood rushing to her head. Scylla turned towards the destroyed Ini Pyramid and growled, "Then we need to get over there quickly. Aite and Ajal may be in trouble."
Sophia asked, "But how are we going to get there without the Soulless spotting us?"
Scylla thought about it, sparking a tongue of fire in her hand. Looking into it, Scylla smirked.
Extinguishing the flame, Scylla said, "I think I have an idea."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scylla made another illusion, but this time, it was of a couple of demigods engaging in battle with the Soulless. Before the Soulless could come to the scene, Scylla, Adam, Diana, and Sophia ran toward the ruins quickly.
As they reached the wreckage, Scylla saw a mix of violet cinders and blood on the ground. Signaling to the others to stop, Scylla knelt down, trying to drown out the doubts, fear, anger, and despair that welled up, pricking her tears with a dangerous guilt as Scylla tried to blink the tears back. Her eyes were blurry, and she felt like she was going to burst into flames.
Please be okay, Ajal and Aite. Scylla transmitted, not expecting anything to happen.
"Scylla, we should be helping with exterminating the Soulless." Adam gently whispered, helping Scylla up.
Scylla nods. "Their deaths won't be – ACK!!!!"
Scylla held her head, feeling dizzy, but she felt something coming from the north. It felt familiar, but she was in too much pain to walk towards it.
"Scylla, are you hurt?" Adam asked.
"Are you okay?" Sophia asked urgently.
Diana started, "Maybe we should take her to the -"
ENOUGH!! Scylla transmitted.
(Author's Note: This chapter is connected to The Blizzard. Please read The Blizzard if you haven't read it yet.)
"What?" Kiui whispered.
"Demetria knows me, and I know her. The only time something like this happens nowadays is when she's experiencing a nightmare." Mango said. "I'm going after her."
"Mango, wait -"
"MANGO MOCHISOLAR, COME BACK -"
Mango tuned them both out as she ran the door, grabbing her winter coat. I know the forest better than anyone, Mango thought. If anyone can find her, I can.
It felt like hours before Mango found Demetria, and what Mango saw was terrifying.
The forest around her felt dead, and Demetria was encased in an icy cocoon. The heart of the blizzard was right above them, causing the temperature to drop every second Mango stood there.
Mango rushed over to the cocoon, banging on it with her fists. "Demetria, wake up, it's just a nightmare." Nothing happens. "Fluuuuuuff." Mango whispered, her tears turning to ice. "Come on, please, don't leave me." Mango pleaded.
Without thinking, she extended her claws and attempted to slice through the chrysalis ten times, each scratch digging deeper into the ice each time, until finally -
CRRAACK!
The cocoon cracked open, the ice revealing the unconscious and frostbitten form of Demetria. Mango gasped in horror, her ears going up in shock. She quickly took off her coat and carefully wrapped it around Demetria. Mango transforms into the form of a ginger cat with wet, orange scales peppering random spots on her body, and picks up Demetria carefully, gently setting her on the cat's back. Carrying Demetria away from the horrid, frozen sight, Mango hissed, "Stay with me, big cuz. You gotta be strong."
Kaiso's POV
As I reached the city, I kept a close eye on the child. As Bendy walked beside me, I couldn't help but feel the need to get rid of him. I wonder how Alinta and Audra are doing?
Snugglebunny's (Author) POV
Kaiso... There was a lot of screaming. In general. Panicking is more of the emotion they felt. Don't ask.
"AAAAAA-"
"AAAA-"
Kaiso's POV
Maybe it's just the curse talking, but I think I need to return to...Abbadon. Ugh.
Buuuut, if I DO leave, Alinta and Audra will come after me and interrogate me. They may know about my cursed form by now.
It seems like I don't have a choice. I'll stay.
