Okay so, I fell in love today. This beautiful doggy was at a gas station, and we hit it off instantly. I sat with her for thirty minutes, she laid in my lap, licked my nose. I literally cried when I had to leave her. She’s been there for a week now. The owners of the gas station said to take her, that the “owners didn’t want her”… but that’s honestly just hear-say. She has a collar. Folks in the parking lot saw our love and told me TAKE HER.  I already have a dog, that probably wouldn’t be happy if I brought this one home.  BUT GUYS, I’M TELLING YOU! I LOVE THIS DOG! I can’t explain it. I want to give her all the love in the world, and endless adventures. I NEEEEEEEEEEEED HER!  what do I do!?!?!

VSEPR in class today (also he has this pouty face when he’s focused sometimes, enjoy). He did a great job and settled in quickly and managed crowds and distractions like a pro, for which I was incredibly proud and grateful.

In Serbia’s capital Belgrade, thousands took to the streets on Wednesday for the third day in a row, to protest against the overwhelming victory of Conservative Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in last weekend’s presidential election. 

The demonstrators, mainly students, gathered in front of the parliament, blowing whistles and chanting “Vucic, you stole the election” and “End the dictatorship”.

Hi folks, Paul here. It’s early AM Tuesday EST; I’m in Raleigh for a visit with family, and I’ve spent a lot of time processing how to respond to the weekend’s tragedy in Charlottesville, VA.

Heather Heyers lost her life at the hands of a… madman, bigot, terrorist; these words all apply to her murderer. Speaking with the Huffington Post, her mother said:

I don’t want her death to be a focus for more hatred, I want her death to be a rallying cry for justice and equality and fairness and compassion. 

As a big believer in all these things, I want to be clear: while this blog generally isn’t meant to be political, we wholeheartedly condemn Neo-Nazis and white supremacists.

It’s surreal to even have to say that. But given the weekend’s events, it’d feel wrong not to speak out about it.
