oddly romantic things i want

to be sat after a long day at the beach, close to them, hair salty with sea water and just know that i'm loved

waking up before them and just hearing them breathe quietly, being able to cuddle close and fall asleep again

running in the rain and not having to worry about anything important

watching the sunrise together

such a tight hug that i don't ever want to let go

getting a song sent with the message "it made me think of you"

them doing my eyeliner for me

reading aloud in the summer evening glow

slow dance by the fireplace

sitting in a parked car, holding hands, as we watch the sunset

Do you ever think about how many of the items now considered priceless artifacts were once commonplace items? The coins we now marvel at from behind the glass at a museum were once tossed around, stepped on, and traded around. The pottery painstakingly pieced back together was somebody’s favorite wine jug. The decorative pin now rusted and bent once held together the shoulder of someone’s chiton. History is simply a trail of ordinary people going about their day, and I think there’s an odd sort of beauty in that.
