Going to a museum and meeting your enemie
"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all."
-Oscar Wilde
I'm once again fighting the urge to fake my death and move to a small city and open a little florist shop or cafe filled with books
.
My relationship with time is complicated. I either feel like four hours is two minutes or I feel like five minutes is twelve hours. Months don't make sense because some of them feel like they take four months and others don't feel like months at all. I could've sworn I was 16 eight years ago and I feel like I've been alive at least 74 years and this month doesn't feel like January because I'm still in the same mental state as I was in November.

old maps pinned to your walls
flipping through a history book, piecing the past together bit by bit
ivy covered walls
books on world affairs and political science piling up on your desk
crumbling stone illuminated by flickering candlelight
using history to inform your opinions on current events
the rich green of early summer
taking time to yourself to gather your thoughts
a notebook and pen in your bag at all times
rushed handwriting, legible only to you
the moment of clarity when inspiration strikes
reading the news while a cup of tea steeps nearby
practicing martial arts, paying attention to the movement of your body
dark colors, an air of mystery
reading under your favorite tree
a love of people, of the vibrant lives lived by everyone around you
learning about niche historical figures
growing plants on your windowsill
a desire to understand the world you live in
saving photos of the places you want to travel someday
studying the past to learn the origins of the present
hate how my parents assume i'm being lazy and unproductive when i'm on my phone. like i could be writing poetry or reading an ebook or learning a new language. i mean, i'm not, but i could be.
