So what? If my actions inconvenience people, then as long as I did not hurt anyone (perhaps their ego but its their problem) its alright.

Actually
The question I get the most is how I write characters that feel like real people.Â
Generally when Iâm designing a human being, I deconstruct them into 7 major categories:
1. Primary Drive 2. Fear: Major and Secondary 3. Physical Desires 4. Style of self expression 5. How they express affection 6. What controls them (what they are weak for) 7. What part of them will change.
1. Primary Drive: This is generally related to the plot. What are their plot related goals? How are they pulling the plot forward? how do they make decisions? What do they think theyâre doing and how do they justify doing it. 2. Fear: First, what is their deep fear? Abandonment? being consumed by power? etc. Second: tiny fears. Spiders. someone licking their neck. Small things that bother them. At least 4. 3. Physical desires. How they feel about touch. What is their perceived sexual/romantic orientation. Do their physical desires match up with their psychological desires.
4. Style of self expression: How they talk. Are they shy? Do they like to joke around and if so, how? Are they anxious or confident internally and how do they express that externally. What do words mean to them? More or less than actions? Does their socioeconomic background affect the way they present themselves socially? 5. How they express affection: Do they express affection through actions or words. Is expressing affection easy for them or not. How quickly do they open up to someone they like. Does their affection match up with their physical desires. how does the way they show their friends that they love them differ from how they show a potential love interest that they love them. is affection something they struggle with?
6. What controls them (what they are weak for): what are they almost entirely helpless against. What is something that influences them regardless of their own moral code. Whatâ if driven to the end of the wireâ would they reject sacrificing. What/who would they cut off their own finger for.  What would they kill for, if pushed. What makes them want to curl up and never go outside again from pain. What makes them sink to their knees from weakness or relief. What would make them weep tears of joy regardless where they were and who they were in front of.Â
7. WHAT PART OF THEM WILL CHANGE: people develop over time. At least two of the above six categories will be altered by the storylineâeither to an extreme or whittled down to nothing. When a person experiences trauma, their primary fear may change, or how they express affection may change, etc. By the time your book is over, they should have developed. And its important to decide which parts of them will be the ones that slowly get altered so you can work on monitoring it as you write. making it congruent with the plot instead of just a reaction to the plot.Â
Thatâs it.
But most of all, you have to treat this like youâre developing a human being. Not a âcharacterâ a living breathing person. When you talk, you use their voice. If you want them to say something and it doesnât seem like (based on the seven characteristics above) that they would say it, what would they say instead?
If they must do something thatâs forced by the plot, that they wouldnât do based on their seven options, they can still do the thing, but how would they feel internally about doing it?
How do their seven characteristics meet/ meld with someone elseâs seven and how will they change each other?
Once you can come up with all the answers to all of these questions, you begin to know your character like youâd know one of your friends. When you can place them in any AU and know how they would react.
They start to breathe.
Heyy thanks for the tag :)
Ieyasu (7) is INDEED nasty in namecalling MC but he had some good (if not complicated) side of him. TBH not what I expect for the one who waits, but he did try to wore out MC's patience (and failed). Still, their backtaking episode was GOOD.
Hide (6) is Kind and Charming as usual, but I kind of know how he works; sometimes come off as manipulative off-screen. But for someone who made the cuckoo sing, his actions are understandable. And the best monent was how he responded to Inichiyo when he discovered who wrote that letter.
Nobu (5) is NOT easy if I were in MCs shoes, imagine being forced to marry just like that...and all because he wanted a cook? Haha. Nope. But it would have been better if MC made some a little bit more resistance to him (and see how Nobu goes about rhat in full measure). Anyways, knowing his character, the story did paint Nobu as such a very forceful "you will be my wife whether you like it or not" suitor.
MC as the cuckoo in that famous samurai cuckoo saying⊠I definitely liked the premise of the event. And hereâs what I thought of the contents, in increasing order of happiness!
Ieyasuâs story starts out on a bizarre note: when MC visits his temporary shop because of his random love letter, his goons capture her and Yahiko (poor Y gets rope burnsâŠ!), he proposes marriage sweetly, MC calls him out on his fake bullshit, and he reverts to his pissy, insulting self. The guy spends the next few weeks visiting MCâs restaurant, not eating anything, and calling MC stupid. And because MCâs a masochist and highly susceptible to reverse psychology, she works way harder to impress his picky palate than I personally wouldâve⊠Eventually Ieyasu asks MC to move back with him, gets pissy when she doesnât immediately accept, and disappears for months so that MC can wallow in angst, before coming back and sweeping her away.
âŠUgh. WTF did I just read? Why did Ieyasu even like MC in the first place?! He claims he saw her working and instantly fell in love, but thatâs BS and his motivations are unclear. And why did MC want to impress this rude idiot anyway? In this story Ieyasu deserves a punch to the face, not delicious food and true love. I hated it. Ieyasu fans may disagree, but I personally canât stand his stupid âpoison smileâ right now. ^_^
Personal enjoyment: 1/10
In this story itâs clear that Hideyoshiâs been harboring a crush on MC for a while because sheâs âcute and hardworking.â Giving Inichiyo an aneurysm with his flirty tactics is simply a plus for this charmer. MCâs shy, but he spends his days allowing himself to be friend zoned and being nice to her and helping with groceries and such. And making MC jealous with his perfumes handkerchieves and fixing womenâs sandals, but hey, we always knew this guy was a rogue, lol. In the end, right before he gives up on MC forever, he realizes that MCâs jealousy stems from mutual feelings, and the story ends on a hopeful note (âPerhaps this doesnât have to be the end of things just yet?â).
I thought H was pretty likeable in this event personally, but as with Ieyasu, I found his romantic motivations to be unclear. How was it possible he had a crush on MC if heâd never talked to her before? What made her so special, besides plot reasons?! In any case, I donât love jealousy plots and the story itself was pretty simplistic imho, but H was sweet and I thought it wasnât too bad overall.
Personal enjoyment: 5.5/10
Nobunagaâs ES starts out in a classically Nobunaga-ish fashion, with the guy demanding marriage from MC out of nowhere. And MCâs having none of it! He eventually reveals he actually wanted MC for her one-of-a-kind cooking skills, lmfao. Of course. This makes total sense đ. Anyway, Nobunaga drags MC to hang out several times during his stay in Kyoto, and the pair eventually do grow genuine feeelings for each other over sugar-fueled dates. The guy comes back from a battle to rescue MC at a critical moment, confesses his final reason for wanting MC (âbecause I couldnât think of dying and leaving you behindâ), and everyone lives happily ever after.
Nobunaga is an absolute treat when heâs not hurting anyone with his ridiculous antics, and he was definitely in fine form in this story! He gives off strong YA novel love interest vibes with his stupid imperiousness (that MC doesnât take seriously thank goodness), and I am A-ok with that, lol. I also liked how his motivations were clear throughout the entire story! Overall, I thought this ES was delightful to read and it was definitely my favorite of the lot.
Personal enjoyment: 9/10
All in all, I wouldnât say this was my favorite event, but I came in with no expectations so from that perspective it couldâve been worse.
If you want another (more thirsty, lol) perspective you should check out @aedysaâs recap! I have no idea how to link on mobile though ^_^
Anyway, what did you all think of this event? :)
Could you please give me something like a list of things that need to be determined about a character, more than just age, height, gender and things like that, please i need like a list of as many as possible đđđ your blog is a miracle
I will try my best. This is a list I usually try to conform to (but I have it stored in my head, rather than as a physical list, so apologies if it doesnât make much senseâŠ!):
Character motivation. What are they doing? Why are they doing it?
Backstory. What happened before their debut in the story?
Greatest fear. Speaks for itself; what do they fear most?
Relationships with other characters. Who do they like? Who do they not like? Who opposes them? Who helps them? Who are they related to (by blood, or circumstance)?
Main personality traits. Positive ones, and negative ones.
Moral limits. What will they absolutely not do? What would they consider doing to meet their goal?
Attitudes/Opinions. What are the main issues in your storyâs world, and what is this characterâs opinion on it? How do they behave towards other characters, based on their opinions of them? Who or what do they consider to be below them? What behaviours do they choose to do or not do, which gives them a sense of importance/self-esteem (i.e. being tee-total, going to church every Sunday w/o fail, always adopting pets, rather than buying them, etc)?
Abilities. Either magical, or non-magical depending on your setting. What are they best at? What are they not so good at?
Speaking skills/conventions. How do they sound when they speak? What is their vocabulary like? How do they manage/behave in everyday conversations?
Education. According to your worldâs standards, how educated is the character?
Family. How were they brought up? What was their family situation like?
Friendships. Which friendships do they value the most? How many friends do they have? How easily can they make friends?
Sexual/romantic relationships. How many relationships has the character committed to? Can they commit to relationships? How do they behave when in a relationship? How do they feel about other peopleâs relationships?
Work. What do they think about work? What kind of work would they like to do? What kind of work are they doing? If the character is a student, then consider their work ethic, their favourite subjects, etc.
Sense of self. What is your characterâs self-image like? How do they feel about themselves? What do they think about themselves in relation to other people (i.e. how do they compare themselves to somebody else?).
Health. Speaks for itself; what is this characterâs health like? In the past, in the present, and in the future?
Housekeeping. How do they live, in an everyday setting? Are they tidy, or messy? What things do they consider to be necessary to a daily routine, and what things do they consistently forget about/deem to be unimportant?
Politics. How they view society, and what should be done in a âcivilâ society. What they think of their worldâs politics. How they might âclassâ themselves.
Religion. Their views on life, death, and creation. Their understanding of their âpurposeâ, or their beliefs in how everything came to be.
Tastes. In fashion, food, and anything else you might think of.
I hope this helps, Anon! Maybe some of our followers might reblog this and add extra things, or you might think of extra things you can add yourself. Feel free to do so, if this is the case!

I really....really love this game. So much that I would ask my dad to borrow his laptop to play this game late at night while they were sleeping (since it had better specs than my old one...mine kept crashing T_T).
There were a number of memorable moments in game...and I name a few...
1. UNITED FORCES UPDATE (AKA MASSIVE SERVER MERGE) : I was a member of Ruinous Guild (EMPIRE), one of the biggest guilds of the former Harbinger server... And we were reunited with other members of our sister guilds from other servers inside our guild flagship. We did our shinenigans for group picture taking...some RPing (unfortunately I am quite an introvert even in game) But I had fun meeting new faces and perks of the "other club"
2. Knights of The Fallen Empire / Knights of the Eternal Throne stories : What I like in SWTOR, STORY QUESTS! And for me, nothing is as good as KoTFE and KoTET expansions (since I can replay them and experience the story again, unlike class, Flashpoint stories.)
(Note: includes Iokath and Nathema FP pics)
3. WORKING HARD FOR BETTER STRONGHOLD and DECORATIONS : When I first played my game...I remember owning starter strongholds from capital planets. One guild member invited me in their beautiful Nar Shaddaa Stronghold I got envious of his in-game wealth and dedication to design them (i was an F2P that time...so I was basically a beggar inside his "mansion")
But even so, I did try gathering my resources until such time I got my very first subscriber status (i think after 3 years of playing on-off) that lasted 6 months. And I got my dream house.
*goodbye 50 million credits!
And there were more unforgetable moments not listed here, such as the steep competition of PvP... (that I whacked my brains to devise a strategy...to sit on a corner while earning "defender" points doing NOTHING but watch my teammates outdo each other for kill counts. Just kidding tho)
...queing and grinding KUAT DRIVE YARD and HAMMER STATION FLASHPOINTS, especially during double xp week...got to max those toons to earn special gear!
...and OPERATIONS...YOU GOT TO LOVE THEM especially when it was your first time...
...LOVE THEIR EARFUL ARGUMENTS over the CHAT, I mean...love them when they go berserk and give you a piece of their mind while you laugh (secretly) at their own measly skills, but I won't discuss that.
On the whole, this game had brought me good memories and I would live to play again...
Perhaps I am writing this to remind my "future" self that should I have the time to go back and play PC games...I should return to this game.
AFTER ALL, I NEED TO GET BACK THOSE MILLIONS OF CREDITS I SPENT! Hehehe!
