As the result of my otome survey with 800 respondents, here is an in-depth analysis of the results, comparing and finding common links between players.
It seems the biggest two groups in otome are those that self-insert and those that don’t. Then there’s the groups who enjoy more focus on story, and those that enjoy more focus on romance.
Basically, otome players have a variety of likes and needs. Any otome developer will find it useful to read through this article!
Please share so that more indie devs can find this article and better understand their players :)
I REFUSE to be apologetic for my autistic child. I’m not sorry she’s sensitive, I’m not sorry she has meltdowns, I’m not sorry she doesn’t like to interact with others, I’m not sorry 🤷🏻♀️ I’m not gonna waste another minute explaining to someone “sorry she’s autistic”, because I’m just not sorry anymore tbh
Any idea or hc about what if...Ikemen Hideyoshi and SLBP Hideyoshi are at war against each other. No need to state who would likely win...just how would they deal with each other haha. I have a very soft spot for both guys.
Hey @aedysa! Thanks for another fun ask :) Gosh, IkeSen and SLBP are such different beasts, it’s so hard to say how they would deal! But here are some of my guesses:
You know that saying about how the only options when faced with a clone of yourself is to fight or f*ck? Guess which one SLBP Hideyoshi, famed for having 1000 previous lovers, would try to go for. ;D IkeSen H is a little suspicious by nature, but there’s a good chance this whole war could be averted from the get-go. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Let’s assume SLBP Hideyoshi gets rejected, and war does break out. SLBP Hideyoshi definitely needs to watch himself, because every named character in IkeSen has rock solid plot armor, and well…SLBP is definitely a bit more of a gamble, now isn’t it? ^_^
In terms of allies, IkeSen Hideyoshi’s at a huge advantage. There’s no way his true love battle-happy boss Nobunaga wouldn’t rally the entire Oda army to help the guy out. SLBP Nobunaga doesn’t seem to have the best track record with coming through for his subordinates though, and the Date’s also aren’t on Team Nobunaga in the SLBP world, so let’s hope for SLBP H’s sake that this war takes place after Inuchiyo reunites with the Maeda clan and can bring additional reinforcements…!
The worst thing SLBP Hideyoshi could possibly do in this war is to go after IkeSen Nobunaga. That’s how you activate IkeSen H’s protective/suicidal berserker mode, after all. Which might turn out great for SLBP H, but it’s also dangerous af.
One thing SLBP Hideyoshi has that IkeSen Hideyoshi doesn’t have is ninjas. Granted, his designated ninja, Kyoichiro, isn’t exactly in top fighting form. But I’m sure he can muster up the resources to pay someone from Iga to try and off Ikesen Hideyoshi in the dead of night! Would that be an overly dirty trick? Maybe, but we all know SLBP Hideyoshi is way sneakier than IkeSen Hideyoshi, who has a super strong sense of fair play! It could happen.
Are our Hideyoshi’s respective MC’s there? Chef MC probably isn’t anywhere near the battlefield, but everyone’s favorite chatelaine is gonna be hanging out as Nobunaga’s lucky charm. And where she goes, time wormholes and thunder storms follow! So whichever way this war goes, expect dramatic weather conditions.
At the end of the day, I don’t think our two lovely boys would fight for all too long. They’re both really sensible people, after all. The war would likely end with the both of them bonding over their shared love/respect of Nobunaga, and lots of amusement over how very different their respective Mitsuhide’s and Mitsunari’s are. SLBP Hideyoshi would quickly realize how much of a lightweight IkeSen Hideyoshi is with alcohol, and…well. Keiji’s gonna be one happy guy with both Hideyoshi’s around and ready to be kissed 😂
Hope that answers your question!! 💕
I haven't done Saizo or any Tsuki Routes...but...Just asking, who do you think will win in a ninja duel? Hanzo Masanari or Saizo? Because from what I read so far, Hanzo is also a good ninja.
OMG @aedysa, thank you so much for this entertaining ask!! 😂I haven’t done Saizo’s route yet, but let me try to answer to the best of my abilities! :) First off, we have to consider the environment: Saizo is weak to rain, so in the case of bad weather, Hanzo is going to win, hands down.
But let’s assume it’s a sunny day (or a clear night), and our ninjas can’t bring allies, because that would get complicated. You’re right that both Saizo and Hanzo are considered excellent ninjas. We all know about Saizo’s skills, and Hanzo didn’t stay alive as future chief of his village by sitting pretty. That said, much as I hate to say it, I suspect Saizo would have a slight edge in a direct face-off. Here’s why:
Skillset: Hanzo’s a great fighter, yes, but if leveling up your ninja skills works the way it does in video games, Hanzo’s “wasted” a good fraction of his skill points on the charisma/seduction tech tree. Meanwhile, Saizo seems to have gone all in on fighting. People skills won’t help you in a ninja duel, probably (unless Hanzo plans to seduce Saizo?!?! I’d definitely buy that story, lmao).
Experience: Hanzo spends his days plotting/doing snakey things, trolling people, and helping Sakai grow strawberries. Meanwhile, when Saizo isn’t sleeping, he’s either actively training or going on the most dangerous ninja missions. I’m not saying Hanzo’s rusty (far from it), but Saizo’s ninja skills are going to be razor sharp in comparison. Also the one time Hanzo was sent on a mission with Saizo (street fair story), Hanzo made Saizo do all the killing, which seems to corroborate my theory.
Weapons: Hanzo uses throwing needles and something that looks like a claw. Saizo uses a vicious blade (sometimes two). Both of them use throwing knives. Anyways, throwing weapons are a finite resource, so let’s talk about close combat. Blades are longer than claws, so I assume they have a slightly wider range. Also, assuming you have the strength to handle a blade, which Saizo obviously has, if you move your arm at the same speed, a longer weapon (blade) will move faster than a shorter one (claw), which also seems like a good thing, giving Saizo the overall slight advantage.
Hair: Hanzo’s luscious locks, aka one of his greatest assets, would also prove to be his greatest downfall. He might be able to fight skillfully without his beautiful, silky hair getting in the way against most opponents, but hair isn’t something Saizo has to even think about when fighting. Point to Saizo for practicality.
Clothes: Similarly, Hanzo’s clothes are very pretty, but a lot bulkier than Saizo’s super hot skin-tight ninja outfit. This puts Saizo at a huge advantage in terms of speed and maneuverability! That said, Hanzo can hide more throwing knives on his person with that outfit, so I suppose in a long-term ranged duel, he’d be all right…
To recap, imho Saizo is more likely to win in a ninja face-off against Hanzo (happy to field counter-arguments!). But if you like Hanzo as much as I do, there’s no need to fret! Don’t forget that Hanzo is a slippery snake who, like Saizo, seems to have magic ninja vanishing abilities. So when the situation is no longer in his favor, he’ll be able to gtfo. And maybe that’s why we don’t hear about the Iga ninjas fighting each other all that often. ^_^
Hope that answered your question! :) Anyone reading this: feel free to send more fun asks my way, lmao. The box is always open!!
I know a lot of friends don’t like Kojuro Act 2 for several reasons such as Koju leaving MC and Hide being evil…and I do not contest that, but personally, I LOVE IT….EVEN THOUGH Kojuro isn’t my main bias.
Yes, it has a lot of downer scenes that somehow make you like him less, and there are scenes where all you want is to pound your phone with something hard because…uggh!! (Trust me, I almost did.)
But the real strength of the MS is not on the fluffy romance we expect from an otome game…but on Kojuro’s inner conflict and how his subsequent choices affect MC and Date Clan.
Yes…Kojuro Act 2 is more about DRAMA than ROMANCE.
There will be SPOILERS (but not that detailed) here, but think of the Trolley Problem. In essence, Kojuro has to make a choice, both aren’t easy. Sacrifice one he loves to save the clan or stay with his beloved and watch his enemy destroy those he swore to protect. No matter what he does, he has to pay a very huge price. And this is clearly seen on the MS, the agony he felt as he weighed his options, and its serious consequences. Yet he has to make a choice. You can guess what he did, brace yourself and watch your temper, guys. You HAVE to.
Yonezawa retainers wanted blood, and they wanted MC to “pay the price” since Kojuro “become rogue”. I really should give praise to Date Boys. Masamune and Shigezane were really supportive of MC, despite the odds stacked against them. Masa could have rebellion in his hands in the light of Kojuro’s absence but he stick to his own beliefs. It was epic, I tell you. Shigezane even helped MC convince Masa to let her leave and look for Kojuro so that Kojuro can go home, because despite Kojuro’s actions, Shigezane trusted him still.
MC also faces a similar choice: to be with Kojuro and lose her place in Date clan, or stay in Yonezawa without knowing what happens to Kojuro. To leave means to be branded as a traitor and will be killed on sight…and she isn’t even sure if she will have a home or a place to stay where Kojuro is held.
Yet she braved all odds and faced the risks. I applaud this MC. And even though Kojuro brushed her away when they met (he did it to protect her from Hide), she still cling to him even though it hurts. At this point Kojuro is really a piece of—. But we soon see that everytime Kojuro shoved MC away, it was killing him inside because all he want is to see MC safe, yet in the moment of desperation, he failed to see how his actions hurt MC. And because of that, he broke his walls to embrace her once again. Because in the end, he still chose his own heart.
Meanwhile, just as Kojuro faced a difficult obstacle, we see Hideyoshi in a rather different light: the ANTAGONIST. Perhaps one of the reasons why some players liked this MS was that people get to see a new side of him. Yet, I know others HATED Hide in this, and understandibly so…he is no longer the cheeky flirty monkey we once knew and though he smiles…it is void of joy. He is scary, because he is trully a schemer and a master manipulator in this MS, and not even Kojuro saw him coming.
I will not expound here what Hide did to make Kojuro’s life miserable, but anyway, as the chapter progresses, MC began to see that Hide, too, was also suffering from his own hard choices and how he quietly laments that his methods is slowly killing him inside, just like Kojuro. Hideyoshi sacrificed his everything to achieve Divine Rule, even though he loses his own heart. Kojuro sacrificed his own heart to save Date clan, even though he will be seen as a traitor.
For whom does these people fight for? Love or Duty? And what will be the consequence? And what will they give for the sake of their goal?
And these are the questions Kojuro Act 2 is all about. And this is why I love it. And I hope for those who plan to read Koju Act 2…will be able to find the beauty of it as I do.
