THIS 👏🏻 CHARACTER 👏🏻 GROWTH👏🏻
david tennant did the bafta host with his nonbinary pride pin and fuzzy sweater and a cutedog , songged his wife on the red carpet and then subjected everyone to his funny weird dynamic with micheal sheen , did not dis anyone , did not make an aweful comment about anything, wore stellar outfits being the most gorgeuse person out of everyone, give everyone proper respect and attention, finished the job and went home to do an eye mask and rest his feet.
i truly admire him. truly one kind of a man.
Here are the things I love most about Psych:
There is a general lack of sexism and misogyny amongst the characters. The women are portrayed as competent as the men and as accomplished as the men. They show platonic male/female friendships and relationships without trying to force something romantic between characters.
There is a general lack of homophobia. Shawn doesn't get offended when people think he and Gus are together. Shawn and Gus are portrayed perfectly in the sense that there is no toxic masculinity. They are open with their love and friendship and don't "no homo" it.
They don't push the marriage or baby rhetoric. Shawn and Juliet having an open conversation about deciding not to want children and just have dogs, and not feeling pressure to be married until the 1st movie is so refreshing, and even then, they didn't make it a big deal. The women in Psych are written for more than being love interests.
They don't downplay Shawn's trauma around his childhood, especially as it contrasts with Gus's more stable home life. Shawn and Henry's relationship feels (to me) like the epitome of "I can understand how and why you did what you did, but that doesn't mean I have to forgive you for it." Likewise, they don't minimize the trauma Juliet had over Yang. They never tell her to "get over it" or try and tell her it wasn't that bad.
They show that what makes a villain isn't black and white. The villains are complicated, like Yang and Desperaux. They're not all bad, but they're also not all good.
All of the storylines with animals are just *chefs kiss.*
The writing is so good. It's comedic but has feelings. It is a safe space. All of the characters grow throughout the course of the show. They don't just stay stagnant.
Anyway. I love it.
A reaction image that I really needed
Why did you leave this in the tags? Also I love that Gandalf just fucks with everyone and a lot of the time people can tell if he’s serious or not
Imagine the fellowship showing each other pictures and paintings of themselves as children
Everyone cooes over Gimli with the tiniest little beard and mini axe, the Hobbits all sleeping in a little pile of curls and tails, Aragorn in formal elven clothing but his hair is still as messy cause they couldn’t style it even if they tried, Boromir holding a baby Faramir cause he refused to part with him after he was born
And then Legolas shows the ugliest fucking thing any of them had ever seen, looking like a fleshy newborn bird with enormous eyes and ears, and he’s proudly boasting over how he’s seen as one of them most beautiful elven infants in millennium, and the rest of them are afraid to say anything because What The Fuck

dude perry the platypus is such a funny character to me because like. i’ll be thinking abt him and be like oh he’s just like an adult man he has a government job and he loves his family and he has a weird homoerotic relationship with his nemesis and he’s nonverbal. just an overall normal guy character. i love him im going to read 7000 fics about him now. but then i take a step back and im like. he’s a platypus. i’m going crazy over a real cartoon platypus. what am i doing. but then i take another step back and im like oh shiiiiitt. he’s a platypus. what kind of experiments were they doing on him to make him evolve the way he has? what kind of training did he go through? man this guy has some trauma he’s a lil fucked up actually! and then i take ANOTHER step back and im like. this is literally about a phineas and ferb character
