Where's the rest of Marianne's family? What is her relationship with her brother (both when Marianne was young and now, when they're adults)?

Hi, thank you for the question! Sorry it took me awhile to answer life and procrastination got in the way 😅 but here we go:

So the relationship with her brother, Sebastian, has always been strong even as kids. Despite an 8 year age gap, Sebastian adored his little sister taking care of her (practically raising her) since their parents were always too busy with their own business deals.

They left their grandmother back in Còrdoba and the family had moved to Florida making their own arrangements in selling illegal wine.

While young Maríanne was in her own world, Sebastian was always suspicious of the men that would come around their house and chat with his parents. The young boy always had a feeling that things wouldn’t end well.

To this day, he hated how right he was…

As adults they went their separate ways. They still write letters to each other on occasion to see if the other is still alive and the update in each other of their daily lives.

However, the letters tend to get lost (sometimes) since running under an alias can confuse the mailman.

I was reading a vintage dancer article on children's clothes in the 1920s and saw this:

I thought it was so cute and silly that I wanted to draw a Little Lottie with it. But then I had to come up with a design for her. I followed the description in the text mostly, but I got snagged on the hair. It's described that she has a mark up to her forehead which implies you could see most of her face. but i thought having her hair somewhat covering her eyes would convey her personality better. So I compromised and did both at the same time. Maybe Lottie fixes it up for her, but she does that thing that kids do when they don't want their parents fussing with their hair and takes it down when Lottie isn't looking.

The handbag also reminded me of something I used to do when I was you and undiagnosed. I had a triangular metal lunch box I used to carry stuff around in because I liked having the things I needed near me when leaving my room. So I'm assigning little Lottie that trait.

The book she's looking at is The Velveteen Rabbit.

Maríanne favorite food would be Plátanos Fritos (fried plantains).

She used to eat a lot of it as a child, and still thinks about them on occasion.

If you give her a plate of these she will get all giddy and refuse to share it with anybody. (She may also be willing to accept the proposal too, although she would be very confused lmao)
