So, if you're too tired to speak, sit next to me, because I, too, am fluent in silence.
Born to be a gopi in Vrindavan, forced to be a functioning member of society
I study using the reverse Pomodoro method where I focus for 5 minutes and fool around for the rest 25 minutes.
The Indian community is so shattered and raw but ig that’s what happens to a diverse people after years spent under oppression and in survival mode. It’s okay. We deserve to air out our dysfunctional selves just like all other countries and nations on their way to development. It happens and for god’s sake it hasn’t even been a century since the brits left this land so stop comparing yourselves to countries like America. We fucked up, we picked ourselves up and we are moving towards development with freedom and democracy. Don’t compare yourself to dictatorships either because again the form of government you choose determines your growth and democracy slows things down significantly.
Y’all are so damn brave and even though I know we all hold so many opposing political and social views, I wish the best for each one of us.
Indians, may this century be kind to us. 🥂
P.s I think post colonial trauma in societies should be studied and taught more to help people understand what is happening to them.
Seeing men buy jhumkas for their gfs is the most wholesome thing to ever exist
God you knew how unstoppable I'd be if I actually stuck my to routine and do the things i said i was gonna do.
Say it with me now.
I sometimes think about men have almost the same rights, body autonomy, freedom in every country while for women life looks so different from country to country or at least from region to region.
In some countries you're forced to cover your head, in others you're prohibited from covering your head and in other countries you can wear/not wear what you want. You can have an abortion in that country but not this one. You can get education, degrees and have paying jobs in most countries but not in others. You can go to a doctor if you need to but there you can't because women aren't allowed to become doctors and women aren't allowed to see a male doctor..
I sometimes think about how shitty the country i live in is but then i think well at least i can get an education and go to a doctor.. i shouldn't have to be grateful for those things..
you desire love but push away affection? what are you? written by Dostoevsky?

If you ever feel unrecognised, just know that Afghan Women keep getting further dehumanised each and every day and no one talks about it because it's not popular on social media
My standard is very high but the 'stan' is silent.
A dude in India committed suicide recently because of alimony issues and the country is up in flames because of "gendered laws" where women are the only ones getting alimony (not true) can file false cases any time they like (not true, burden of proof is harsh) and get men put in jail and murdered all the time (also not true).
Every single day, around 20 women are killed (that we know of) for dowry related issues in this country. 85+ women are sexually assaulted every single day. Almost 8 MILLION girls under the age of 10 (TEN) are married in this country. But sure, one dude killing himself means Sharia law needs to be brought and whatever bullshit.
Death to 90% Indian men I swear. That's the only way for the country to have a chance at making it out of the hellhole we're in.
worrying is like worshipping the problem
Is it a normal desi experience to feel like a failed investment of your parents or is it just me?
