Notes from a 5-day creative writing course:
Motivation
Make it a habit. That way, each time that familiar voice of self-doubt makes its appearance, it’ll be easier to ignore it, because writing will become something that you do-your thing-and you’ll gain confidence in it.
Visit your novel every single day. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to write something every day. You could outline the plot, or write character portraits, or draw a special part of your world. Your subconscious will work on your story even when you don’t. So, each time you visit the story consciously, you’ll find that things have developed in the story.
Manage the time of writing in a way that it is manageable for you. (It can be that one hour between classes or your lunch break or the morning before you go to work or at night before you sleep - Schedule it in a way that suits you and then, be serious about it.
Set a goal. For example, 100 or 500 words a day.

yall one of my characters has the saddest lore, i hate it sm i just wanna hug him😭😭😭 (me acting like i didn’t give him the sad lore in question)
And my goal is to do that to someone else
my kink is being forcefully slammed back into my hyperfixations by outstanding pieces of art
personal interpretations and preferences aside, there's no limit to what you can make a character say/do without taking them out of character. everyone has a breaking point that pushes them to do what they normally wouldn't. give me the circumstances and events that pushed the character. tell me what they're thinking/feeling. tell me how they're justifying their words/actions, both to themselves and to others. if you can argue it, it'll still feel authentic.
Ok the update with the circle profile pics is distracting to look at
But maybe I just wanna write fanfic right now, even though I could hypothetically write original work and try to get published. Maybe I just wanna right novel length fics about my favorite K-Pop idols instead. Like is that allowed?
I love the notes I gave myself during my first draft. I think one of my favorites is: we need to standardize pet names.
Or I let my anxiety think, “what’s the worse that could happen?”
“how do you come up with your plots?” i let my intrusive thoughts win.
Me: changes my stories timeline and everyone’s age
Also me: roasts my characters for getting their kids ages wrong while I edit
And you know what, we’re just not gonna talk about how many wips I’ve started lately. We’re just not gonna do it. And I’m definitely not coming up with world building for another one based on a tiktok.
