Summary: An undisclosed pregnancy that you and your husband try keeping a secret ends up being the reason you end up in hospital during a PTI session with the Dagger Squad.
Word Count: 6k
Warnings: Pregnancy. Bradley Bradshaw x F!reader. Mild Angst.
Author Note: Happy Saturday! This is pretty self indulgent but I final finished this one-shot thatâs been in my drafts forever.
âAlright team.â Pete Mitchell, although overworked and severely underpaid for the crap he put up withâgrinned ear to ear at his group of elite Naval Aviators who sat before him after debriefing this morning's training exercise. âAs you know, this weekend is Memorial Day weekend and the Admirals have decided to get a jump start on the events.âÂ
âAre we getting a long weekend?â Fanboy beamed hopefully as he sat up a little straighter. âPlease tell me weâre getting a long weekendââ He hoped that if he asked with enough conviction in his voice the answer would be yes. However, he hadnât noticed you standing at the back of the room. A protective hand over your barely visible baby bump. Waiting for the right moment to make your presence known. Bob had noticed thoughâhe was already dreading what was to come. He hated Memorial Day. Not because he didnât want to pay respects to those who had fallen, no. Heâd honour the fallen every damn day if he had to.Â
So long as he didnât have to participate in Murph.
Youâd been his PTI during his time in Lamoore. You were the first Bradshaw heâd met and before he later Met Bradley Bradshaw and put two and two together that the two of you were marriedânothing had ever made more sense.Â
Bobâs heart had sunk into his ass when he found out you were being transferred to North Island. You were somewhat of a hard task master when it came to gruelling training sessions and Memorial Day always gave you free rein to send anyone packing with their tail between their legs if they couldnât keep up.Â
You were, however, a solid friend. When you werenât working, you were the life of the party. The brightest smile in the room and always the one who everyone gravitated towards. Much like Bradley, you two always seemed to get the party started. Whether it was playing great balls of fire and singing at the top of your lungsâor starting an important dart night that saw a permanent tally board hung up beside the much too loved dartboard. There had been a time or two where youâd challenged the strongest of the bunch to an arm wrestleâBob was always the first to bow at your bark. Not one to challenge anything you said, hell heâd do just about anything you told him to doâŠ.
So long as he didnât have to participate in Murph.Â
Bob had never been one to believe in soulmates before he saw you and Bradley together, heâd never met two people more suited for each other. But neither of you needed to hear that from himâyouâd already managed to figure that out on your own.Â
âNo, Fanboyââ Maverick sighed as he gestured for you to make your way to the front of the class. âNo you arenât getting a long weekend, what you are getting though, is a killer workout with PTI Bradshaw.â You heard the mixed reviews your introduction received. Youâd only just recently finished running annual fitness testing for those who needed to be re-evaluated. So the idea of yet another gruelling workout tossed their way wasnât what some of the aviators had in mind for a head start on the weekend.Â
Jake Seresin and Javy Machado however? Oh they were wrapped. They loved a challengeâthey adored you and they certainly came over the challenges you loved to hand out.Â
âMorning everyone.â You beamed as you handed Rooster, you beloved husband, who sat in the front row with a soft grin, a pile of papers. âTake one and pass them along please Lieutenant Bradshaw.â Your fingers lingered across Bradleyâs for a few seconds as he smiled softly back at you with heart shaped eyes. He always thought you looked so different with your hair pulled back into a ridiculously tight bun. Your uniform made you look so different, nothing like what you looked like at the Hard Deck with your hair out and mum jeans on. Sitting beside him at the piano playing great balls of fire. A Margarita in your hand and his glasses over your beautiful eyes. Nothing like what you looked like tucked into his side, hair splayed every which way and silk pyjamas adorning your beautiful body.Â
âPhysical Training Instructors play a key role in developing and maintaining the health, fitness and well-being of our airmen. In the United States Navy, physical fitness is absolutely essential in maintaining good health and overall wellbeing.â Pete Mitchell had been required to say that little statement prior to any session he handed over to you. âRegardless of Rank, PTI âAgonyâ Bradshaw will be your superior for the next two hoursâwith that I hand you over.â
âThanks Mav.â You chuckled, appreciating the way you were so respected by the veteran aviator. PTIâs didnât always have the best wrapâso when Maverick commanded the attention of everyone in the room on your behalf it gave you a little more confidence each and every time. âAlright flyboysââ You teased, turning your attention to Phoenix so you could address her too. âAnd Flygirl, today weâre doing MURPHââÂ
Your declaration was met with a choir of dismay and disapproval from at least half of the team that sat before you. Suddenly their shoulders were a little more slouched and their faces plastered with existential dread when they started reading over the workout plan you'd had Bradley pass back. No one liked doing MURPH, except maybe Jake Seresin.
âMaâam, I think that sounds like a great ideaââ Hangman sent you one of his thousand watt grins as he played with the toothpick that sat between his teeth. âDonât you think your wife here comes up with some banger ideas, Rooster?â Bradley did think you had some good ideas, he wasn't going to let you know that thoughâif he did he knew his workouts, his Personal Training sessions and his Fitness Testing would just increasingly get harder and harder. It had only been by the skin of his goddamn nose that you passed his last Multi-Stage Fitness Test. Bradley Bradshaw was a hunk and with that meant he himself was not the most aerodynamic of the bunchâBob had passed with flying colours, although you did nearly force him to restart his push-ups again when you caught him cheating on range.Â
âShe told me what she had planned last night Hangman, Iâm ready to go, brought my pre workout in my bag and everythingââ Rooster just sighed as he leaned back in his chair, spreading his legs as he brought his hands up to rest behind his head. âPiece of cake.âÂ
âI have never heard anyone say MURPH is a piece of cake.â Phoenix groaned. âAggie, pleaseââÂ
âI don't make the rules, Lieutenant, I just enforce them.â You had gotten used to the love-hate relationship and animosity you received while you were in uniform, it was your job to make sure none of the navyâs finest aviators let their fitness fall to the wayside. âNow for those who don't know what MURPH is, i'll explain quickly then you can all take twenty to change, refuel, and meet me over in the gym.â As you pulled out the empty chair that sat vacant next to your husband, you used it as a footstool before propping yourself up on the desk. Clearing your throat before reading out the workout explanation on the sheet you'd distributed.Â
âM.U.R.P.H is a hero WOD dedicated to Michael P. Murphy, the first service member to receive the Medal of Honor for service in Afghanistan, during a Memorial Day event on Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, May 24, 2015.â Although there were more people sitting before you who didn't like the idea of such a gruelling workout, they did respect the fallen. âMichael's favourite workout was dedicated to him after his passing and thus, will be your workout today.â You felt the stomachs of everyone, all but Jake And Javy who just sat a little straighter in their chairs, drop.
âToday you will complete a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, expected to be chest to bar, 200 push-ups, 300 bodyweight squats, and to finish up weâll run another mile.â Bradley crept a hand around your calf, thumbing your uniform as he squinted his eyes and bit his bottom lip, hoping you wouldn't add anything else to the listâŠ..He should have known better. But he couldn't hold a grudge against youânot when you were four months pregnant and glowing. You were hiding your pregnancy well, it wasn't that you didn't want your friends and family to know, it's just you wanted to revel in the experience with Bradley for a little while longer before telling everyone you were both expecting. âUsually the twenty pound weight vest would be optional, but boys and girls you are some of the Navyâs finest Aviators, so you will all complete this course while wearing a twenty pound vest, none-notable people.âÂ

In the locker room, Nomex Flight Suits had been discarded for workout gear. Standard issue work boots had been replaced by trainers, and any and all standards of professionalism had gone out the window. It was the one thing everyone actually did enjoy about having you as their PTI, you werenât big on formality. As long as respect was there you couldnât give a rats ass about if people swore at you or razzed you. It made the job just a little bit more enjoyable.Â
The last thing anyone wanted to do while they were working out was keep a rigid and professional persona.Â
âMan, sometimes I hate your wife.â Phoenix grumbled as the group walked out of the locker room with towels slung over their shoulders and copious amounts of pre-workout scooped into shakers. Bradley couldn't help but to laugh, he loved you so much, the wedding band wrapped around his ring finger was there to prove it. The tattoos of your name on his left ass cheek was also there to prove it.Â
âI wouldn't let her hear you say that.â Bradley paused as he took a swig of his pre-workout before handing it to Jake who looked like he was pumping himself up for the fight of his life. âSheâll âaccidentallyâ forget to count your reps and make you start again.âÂ
âThis is surely a form of tortureââ Fanboy added as he trailed behind with Bob.Â
âIt's a hero WOD Fanboyârespect the dead.â Jake hissed, he was as keen as, the only one in the group who hadnt had a negative thing to say about your workout plan. âI don't know why you guys aren't more excited.â
âUnlike you Hangman, most of us aren't gluttons for punishment.â Payback teased as he came to sling an arm around Jake's shoulders. âOr degradation, considering the unholy things I've seen in your search history.â Jake and Bradley had grown closer in the past few years that saw them in North Island permanently, there had been more times than you could count where the two of them would stumble back to your humble abode, drunk out of their minds. There had even been a time or two where you'd caught them spooning on the couch when Rooster couldn't take the stairs in his drunken state.Â
âNone of which compare to what Bradsaw probably cops in the bedroom.â Jake was quick to turn the attention back on Rooster, sending him a smirk over his shoulder as he took a quick sip of the pre-workout they were sharing and handed it over. âHuh Rooster? Agony probably has you wrapped around her little finger.â It was no secret amongst the group that you were a power house PTI, you didnât dish out any workout you couldn't do with your eyes closed, something that the Daggers really valued about you was your integrity. You were honest and kind and above all, you levelled with them. You weren't a hypocrite and you, as much as you hated your job some days, the constant pressure, the delayed onset muscle soreness, the gruelling workouts and the sweat, you led by example and practised what you preached.Â
That didnt mean you and Bradley wouldn't reserve Friday nights for takeout and chocolate.Â
âThat she does.â Was all Bradley replied with, âHave you fucking seen her? Sheâd kick my ass any day of the week if I gave her any ounce of crap.â He was without a shadow of a doubt whipped, but Bradley had always been that way with youâever since he met you at his first water survival training weekend, he was down bad. Heâd been assigned to your little group that first Saturday and you sent his heart into the stratosphere the first time you smiled at him. He was still unsure if it had ever come back or if your unconditional love and admiration just kept it hovering in the ozone layer.Â
âShe looks like she's glowing.â Bob remarked as the group mixed with nervousness, existential dread and far too much ego radiating of one particular member made their way across the tarmac to the base gym you could be found in any given day of the week. It was your home away from home. Kitted out with state of the art equipment, a spacious and functional environment that was welcoming and motivating. âShe's far too excited about this, oh my god.âÂ
Bradley knew you were glowing, but he also knew it wasn't because you were excited. He knew that it was because of the little one growing inside you, a mix of him and you. He kind of hoped it was a boy, but everyone always told him heâd make a good girl dad. Regardlessâhe just wanted to be a dad, his biggest achievement by far would be being a good dad.
âShe really is.â Bradley beamed as he heard the unmistakable tune of AJRâs Burn The House Down blasting through your speakers, reading over the workout plan one final time as you sat on the sled track, legs sprawled as you hummed away in your own little word. Twirling the pen you held in your hand absentmindedly, Bradleyâs voice brought you out of your concentration. Alerting you that the team was ready to be put through their paces. âWeâre hear for your torture session, Agony, donât hold back on Hangman though, heâs been gloating since, wellâforever really.â Bradley teased as he offered you a gentle hand, helping you rise up from the felt sled track. You immediately felt a dizziness unparalleled to anything you'd ever experienced before. So much so you fought off the urge to succumb to the feeling of descent as you stumbled and stammered for a second.Â
âIâll be sure to keep that in mind, Lieutenant.â You smiled, exhaling as you steadied your equilibrium. Bradley caught on immediately that you were feeling slightly uneasy, placing a soft hand against the small of your back as you cleared your throat and rolled up your sleeves a little. âAlright, So Iâve measured out half a mile along the airfield, so it's half a mile to and half a mile backâ You can either run the tarmac or use the treadmill.â You explained to everybody standing around listening in to what you had to say.Â
âCan we break up the reps Y/n?â Payback asked as he shouldered Bob, forcing him to lose his footing slightly, stumbling for a second as he sent Payback look. âOr is it strictly 100, 200, 300?âÂ
âI don't care what you guys do so long as you get it done.â Your tone made Fanboy shiver, you could be a hard task master when you wanted to be. âStart warming up and weâll get this show on the road.â Bradley was quick to sneak a peck on the cheek when the group started to disperse, all except for Hangman a little on edge about what was to come.Â
âYou feeling alright darlin?â He cooed, walking with you over to your desk where youâd left your water bottle.Â
âYour baby is the size of a pear at the moment and she's already giving me a hard time.â Neither you nor Bradley wanted to know if you were having a boy or a girl, you wanted it to be a surprise, both having made lists that kept growing with names galore. âI'm just starting to feel really sluggish, which is hard to hide when I'm usually the energiser bunny on base.âÂ
âDr. Richards did say youâd need to pull back a little the further along you get baby." It was hard to accept that you would eventually have to slow down, up until about two weeks ago you had been fine, apart from the morning sickness you had dealt with in the first trimester. Bradley respected your boundaries when you were both at work, knowing professionalism in the workplace was important to you, howeverâthat didn't stop him from discreetly placing a gentle hand atop your stomach, finding the small baby bump hiding under your work uniform. The camo green fabric warping around your naval under his palm. âBut that doesn't mean you're not any less capable, just means youâre growing our little boy which in my opinion, is pretty spectacular.âÂ
âJust means weâll need to tell everyone sooner rather than later Roo.â You sighed, taking a sip of your water, not knowing that Phoenix had spotted the gentle touch of your husband's hand resting on your stomach for a brief moment. Her eyes wide in shock as her jaw slacked slightly. Phoenix though, the master of recovery, disguised her surprise when you turned around to round up the gang that were all in the process of warming up in some way shape or form. âAlright, we can stagger the start for those who aren't warm enoughââ You side eyed Bradley as he scoffed at you, leaving your side to join his colleagues. â
âLet's go boys and girl, weâre doing Murph baby!â Jake hollered out, clapping his hands down on Javys shoulders, pumping each other up as you laughed, a smile creeping across your face. âBradshaw! You gonna try keep up with the big boys?âÂ
âThink I might taxi with Bob.â Bradley replied, jogging on the spot before giving his lower back a little twist side to side. Bob just rolled his eyes, to the untrained eye he was the kind of guy who kept his shirt on during beach days, but he thoroughly enjoyed cardio. If Rooster's plan had been to taxi with him during the mile run he was in for a rude shock, but Bob knew he was gonna lose time in the pull-up department. âYou ready to go man?âÂ
âAs ready as I'll ever be for this kind of workout.â Bob groned. âIf I say I twisted my ankle now, do I still have to participate?â The group all laughed at the near winge that left Bob's mouth, he really wasn't up for this todayâbut what you came back with made the gym explode with boisterous laughter.Â
âIf you dont be careful Lieutenant Floyd lâll pack an extra pound into your weight vest.âÂ

Phoenix saw her opportune moment to strike about half way through the first half mile. Bradley was starting to show a red hume across his face, a thin layer of sweat had started to form across his forehead and Phoenix knew that if he was focusing hard enough on keeping his pace steady with one foot in front of the other, she knew he was in no position to formulate a lie.Â
âSoâBradshaw.â Phoenix started as she came up to jog beside Rooster. âHow far along is she?âÂ
âHow far along is who?â Bradley replied as he kept his head straight, focused on the marker up ahead that indicated the turn around point. Watching as Jake and Javy booked it around one another, racing ahead of the rest of the group who had all opted to taxi their way through this.Â
âAgony, she's pregnant.â Phoenix spoke with such conviction that Bradley found it near impossible to try and formulate a lie that would cover up the truth of the matter. âI saw you put your hand on her stomach, and I know you wouldnt do that if she wasnt pregnant.âÂ
âShe's feeling a little off today, little spud is kicking her around a little.â It was all the conformation Phoenix needed to let out a little squeal as she beamed at Rooster, smacking him in the shoulder. âOw!âÂ
âWhy would you keep this from us! Rooster! That's amazing, congratulations!âÂ
âWe just wanted to enjoy it for a while, just us, we haven't even told her parents yet.â Bradley explained as he made it to the turnabout point with Phoenix, both keeping each other's pace. âShe's four months, we don't wanna know the sex, but everything is going the way it should, doc said sheâll need to start pulling back soon though.âÂ
âAh, so thats why she isnât participating in the torture.â Phoenix had picked up on the fact you werenât participating today, she thought it was odd that you weren't but wasn't about to question it. She was scared you'd match her attitude and give her an extra 100 push ups. âMrs Bradshaw is knocked up.âÂ
âYeah.â Bradley chuckled, he liked the sound of that. âI had to beg her not to last night when I saw the MURPH file sitting out on the dining table, got down on my knees and everything.âÂ
âYou couldn't have just talked her out of the whole plan entirely?â Phoenix whined, starting to feel a little more puffed from talking as she jogged with Bradley. Starting to really feel herself warming up.Â
âOh trust me, I tried that too.â Bradley explained, laughing as he remembered how that conversation ended. âShe seduced me just to get me to shut up.âÂ

By the time Rooster and Phoenix got back to the hanger turned gym, Jake and Javy were already going ten reps for ten reps with their pull ups. Bob, Fanboy and Payback were just standing there, watching as they caught their breath and waited for Rooster and Phoenix to return.Â
âAlright ladies, now that everyones back, there's no rest for the wicked.â You turned up the volume on the speaker you stood by before making your way over. âLets hussle, clocks still ticking and the faster you get this done the less time you have to spend here with me.âÂ
Fanboy groaned as he turned to Bob, sharing a painful look of âI'm over this already.âÂ
âHow are you gonna break this up, Roo?â You cooed, coming to stand by your husband as you watched Payback and Phoenix get to work on the rig, everyone was working on their pull ups first. âIf it was me i'd do ten at a time.âÂ
âI think I should be able to manage twenty-five at a time.â He smiled, mumbling under his breath in your ear as he leaned in to kiss your earlobe. âPhoenix knows you're pregnant by the way.âÂ
âWhat!?â You gasped. âHow did she find out! You said we werenât gonna tell anyone yet?âÂ
âSaw me touch your stomach before, figured it was a little sus.â Bradley cooed. âI'm sorry.âÂ
âNo, no don't be, it was bound to happen sooner or later.â You accepted the reality, watching as your group worked through their reps, taking notice of Bob who was severely lacking in his rep range. âFloyd! Chin to bar!âÂ
âYeah Bob, chin to bar.â Hangman added, laughing with that thousand watt grin he was known for. âBradshaw! Stop trying to flirt your way out of this!âÂ
âThat's my cue.â Bradley groaned, throwing his head back as he ran his hands through sweat covered locks. âPlay nice please.âÂ
âNope, hop to it Lieutenantââ You bit back, biting your bottom lip as you cautiously and ever so discreetly slapped Bradley on the arse, watching as you sauntered away with a little more pep in his step.Â
***~***~***~***~***~***~***
âI feel like my arms are gonna pop off!â Next was the push ups. Mickey groaned as he did his set of twenty as you came to kneel beside him. âYouâre a vicious and cruel woman.âÂ
âWell I guess Agony is rather fitting, isn't it Fanboy?â you questioned through a soft laugh as you pressed a hand between his shoulder blades. âRetract your scaps, you're relying too much on your triceps, put the pressure through your chest and your longevity will increase.âÂ
âIf i wasn't so mad i'd say thankyou.â He groaned, keeping on keeping on with his reps. As soon as he was done, Rooster started his, same as Payback.Â
âHmm, I'll take it.â You ruffled Mickey's hair, wiping the sweat you collected onto the thigh of your pants as you stood, feeling light headed as you rose too quickly. âOhââ Your vision blurred momentarily as a slight ringing in your ears rang out, you tried to breathe through it, but you couldn't catch the feeling.Â
âHey Aggie, you okay?â It was Hangman who noticed that you were looking a little unsteady at first, but as soon as the words were leaving his mouth? You were going down. Your eyes rolled in the back of your head as the dizziness from standing too quickly took over you entirely. âOh shit!â It normally wouldn't have been an issue, but you'd been feeling a little unsteady all day. âY/nââ Hangman was quick to move to break your fall, catching you in his arms before you could hit the ground. âRooster! Get over here will ya?â Jake called out, Bradley hadnt seen you fall, he was too busy focusing on his push-ups. âIt's Y/n.âÂ
âWhat's wrong?â Bradley asked as he stood, noticing you passed out in Jake's arms. âOh my god, heyââ He cooed, tapping your cheek softly as he crouched beside you on the other side of Jake, the whole ordeal had grabbed the attention of all the aviators you had in your gym. âHey, darling, you okay? Open your eyes for me baby.âÂ
You did, slowly, fluttering your eyelids with a soft groan as you tried to sit up, still feeling dizzy.
âWoahâeasy there killer, what's going on? I've never seen you pass out like that before.â Although Jake was technically addressing you, Bradley held a palm to your forehead as he pressed his lips together, watching as you struggled to focus on what was going around you.Â
âSheâs pregnantââ The gym went completely silent at Bradleyâs major announcement. âI gotta get her to the hospital in case there's something wrong.âÂ
âBradley, I'm fine.â You tried to reason with your husband as he scooped you up and into his arms, waiting for you to wrap your arms around his neck before he stood. âI promise, I just felt a little light headed is all.âÂ
âYeah, no I don't care, weâre getting you checked out.â There was a distinct shift in Bradleyâs tone, before he was playful, enjoying the workout as much as he could but now? He was as serious as ever, nothing was more important to him than you, his family.Â
âBradley, I'm in the middle of instructing a class.â Again you tried to defend the unnecessary need to go get checked out. You really didnât feel like it was that big of an issue. âI canât just leave? Everyone needsââ Before you could finish, Bradley was interrupting.Â
âGuys? you good?â Bradley turned around, addressed the totally stunned and flabbergasted group who just looked at him like heâd just dropped a major bomb on them. That his wife was expecting, you were gonna be a mother, and he, Bradley Rooster Bradshaw, was gonna be a dad. âYou know what youâre doing don't you?âÂ
âUh, yeahââ Bob started.Â
âWeâre good.â Payback stammered.
âWeâll be fine, just go make sure everythingâs okay.â Phoenix added.Â
âWhat do you mean Y/nâs pregnant!?â Hangman asked, standing there with wide eyes and a confused expression. Bradley didnât respond, he simply turned on his heels and continued on his way, carrying you over to the admin building on base to get you checked out.Â
âDo I need to have the sex education talk with you Seresin?â Phoenix teased. âDid your parents never give you the birds and the bees talk?â Jake just sent her a look.Â
âYou fucking knew didnt you?â He called Phoenix on her cool calm and collected manor. Something was up.Â
âOnly for like twenty more minutes than you.âÂ
***~***~***~***~***~***~***
âTake a picture, itâll last long.â You pouted from your position on the hospital bed, hooked up to a heart rate monitor. Bradley sat beside you, hand in yours as he just stared at you. Trying to get a read on how you were actually feeling because he knew you werenât telling him the truth.Â
âWoah, that was incredibly rude, Mrs Bradshaw.â Bradley teased as he let go of your hand, leaning back in the chair he sat perched in. stretching his arms up over his head, enough so that the bottom of his shirt pulled up, exposing his lower abdomen for a second. An incredible sight. âI'm just doing what any good husband would do, you know, making sure your health is in top priority.âÂ
âI'm A Personal Training Instructor for the United States Navy.â You reminded your husband, deadpanning him as you swirled your palm across your stomach. Stupid hospital gown covering your small bump. âUncle Sam pays me to make sure you keep your health in tip top shape, it's not the other way around.â Bradley sent you a childish lok as his snickered back at you as you stuck your tongue out at him. âListen, Iâm fine, I'm just not used to my equilibrium being so off, I got up too quick and lost my balance, I'm fine.âÂ
âWhy don't we let the doctor be the judge of that?â Bradley sighed, leaning forward as he rose from his seat to kiss your cheek. You just accepted the loving gesture as he cupped your cheeks, swiping the pad of his thumb across your cheek. âI just worry about you, because I love you and if anything ever happened to you I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for not doing enough when I could have.âÂ
âGood thing I love you more huh?â You cooed, watching as Bradley sat back down as Doctor Richardâs entered the room.Â
âThat my dear, is not possible.â Rooster just managed to get his reply in before Doctor Richards smiled.Â
âWell the good thing is there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with bubs from the ultrasound.â She explained as she read through your chart. âBut it seems as though youâre experiencing some bouts of low blood pressure Mrs Bradshaw.âÂ
âLow blood pressure?â Bradley questioned. âThat can just happen? Y/n doesnât have low blood pressure?â He was right, you didnât, but you seemed to have it now.Â
âI can assure you Mr. Bradshaw itâs a very common occurrence during the first twenty four weeks of pregnancy, I wouldnât be too alarmed as long as you manage it.â Doctor Richards addressed you as you sat up a little straighter in your bed.Â
âHow would you like me to do that Doc?â You asked with a sigh, it wasnât that you didnât enjoy being pregnant. You did and you were so excited for your little one to arrive. What was annoying though was the fact you had been told to slow down, take things easy, enjoy the time you had with your baby. You were naturally a physically active person. Slowing down just wasnât in your DNA.Â
âTake it easy. Try to slow down a little? I understand youâre a PTI? Perhaps avoiding strenuous activity for the time being will help.â Doctor Richards explained. âTry to avoid making sudden movements, like standing up too quickly. It shouldnât be a long term thing but for now? Monitor your systems, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated to increase your blood volume.âÂ
âAye aye captain.â You groaned, saluting Dr. Richards as you slumped a little. Rooster caught onto your bad mood instantly, deciding to take over the conversation for you.Â
âWeâll do our best Doc, thanks for checking up on her.âÂ
âAnytimeâIâll have your charts done up and send a discharge notice to the ladies at Reception.â She explained before leaving the room, giving you and Bradley a moment alone. He was silent as you walked Ikeâs at him. Expecting him to say he told you so.Â
âYou feelings alright?â He asked softly.Â
âIâm fineâjust need a moment to truly process that my career is over.â You groaned, lying back as you faught of tears, it was the hormones, but not really. You just knew this day was coming.Â
âWhat are you talking about?â Bradley asked, concern lacing his tone of voice as he sat as close to you as he possibly could. âDarlinâ?âÂ
âIf I canât train, I canât tell others to train. I canât be a hypocrite.â You explained as tears fell down your cheeks. âIâll go on maternity leave and lose my strength, my endurance, my body is already changing and I can only imagine what itâll be like after having this beautiful baby.â You were well aware how crazy you sounded but itâs how you felt. âBradley, I hope you donât take this as me not loving every single moment of this because I amââ You sobbed as Braldey held your hand and brought it to his lips. âIâm just scared of how becoming a mother is gonna affect the career I worked so hard to build.âÂ
âI understand baby.â Bradley tried his best to console you, he wasnât going to tell you that none of what you were worried about was going to happen. He knew that there was a possibility it could. It had happened to other women before you and it would certainly happen after. âBut if anyone can manage being a wonderful, caring mother and a fierce, incredibly talented career woman itâs you.â
âYou think so?â You couldnât help but to scoff lightly through your tears as you turned your head to look at your husband, so thankful for his every strong presence and support.Â
âHoney I know so, weâll do whatever it takes to get you right back to where you were before this little one came along.â He smiled, helping you sit up. âBut letâs focus on you now? Alright, keep that blood pressure from dropping, keep you healthy and happy mama.âÂ
âOh god!â You remembered the fact Bradley had mentioned to every single Dagger that you were pregnant. âOh my god Roo, theyâre gonna tackle us!â You leaned forward into your husband's chest as he laughed and kissed the top of your head. âI guess we better get back and get it over with huh?âÂ
âYeah, better to rip the Band-Aid off fast than to drag it out.âÂ

By the time you got back to base, the entire Dagger Squad was waiting back in the rec room. When you and Bradley entered cautiously, they all stood up as if they were expecting life altering news.Â
âIs everything alright?â Bob asked, you never thought his eyes could get any biggerâbut as he looked at you with hope filled eyes, you knew youâd been wrong.Â
âEverythingâs fine.â You smiled, wrapping your arm around Rooster's torso. Pulling him close as he sighed and filled in the gaps.Â
âMum and Bub are doing well, just got a little low blood pressure to manage but other than that? Everything else seems to be just fine.â Everyone went quiet, all silently thanking the heavens above and those in it that nothing major had occurred. Until Fanboy said what everyone was thinkingâ
âCan we go back to the part where youâre pregnant and didnât tell any of us?âÂ

Now that Zoe has finally recovered from her injuries, she is able to finally go dress shopping.Â
Having finally gotten rid of her crutches and going through weeks of physical therapy, Zoe was finally able to go to her first dress fitting. Â
âReady for this?â Melody grinned as she looped an arm around Zoeâs waist. With her were her bridal party, Amelia and Penny. It was a bit nerve wreaking to be here at a wedding boutique.
âHello! Which one of you is the bride?â A bubbly woman said with a grin as Zoe raised her hand. The woman turned to her, looking at her clipboard. âHi, my name is Camille! So why donât you tell me about yourself and the groomâBradley? How did you meet? How did he propose, and where is the venue? And who did you bring with you today?â She asked, making Zoe shift nervously.
âUmmâŠIâve known him since I was born? I actually proposed first, and umm, itâs at Venue 808. I brought my Aunt Viv, my Man of Honor, TJ, and my bridal party; Mel, Belle, Jake, Callie, Amelia, and this is Penny, my Dadâs fiancĂ©e. But this here is my goddaughter and flower girl Iris.â She said as the woman nodded excitedly.
âOh, exciting! Now why donât you and your guests look around, and you can pick a few possible dresses. While they do that, I can take your measurements.â Camille said as Zoe began looking at the dresses. She was out of her element. Zoe had never been big on dresses.
âHow about this?â Mel says, holding up a dress with tons of lace, making Zoe flinch. She hated lace and poof.
âNo lace, and ugh, no poof!â She groaned as she skimmed through some more. She struggled to find something to call out to her, leaving her to the mercy of her bridal party, who were grabbing dresses left and right, making her nervous.
âAlright, letâs give these a go.â Penny said as she led Zoe to the fitting room with a smile. The first one made her gasp as it had a plunging neckline that would leave little to the imagination and a slit up the side that showed nearly her whole leg being held together with a belt. When she came out, she was bright red as Callie whistled loudly.
âI knew that would look hot on you!â She said as Zoe desperately tried to pull the dress up to cover her cleavage. The others didnât seem to show much enthusiasm for the dress as she looked in the mirror.
âHell no. This is too much skin. Callie, I love you, but hell no! You realize I will be in front of my C.O.s and my Dad, right?â She asked as the other woman just shrugged.
Trying on a few more, she was getting frustrated that none were giving her that feeling of this is the dress. Until she put on the next one. It was a simple dress, but it hugged her curves just right. Stepping out, the others gasped as she made her way to the platform. She turned to look closer at the dress. It was a long-sleeved off-shoulder mermaid dress with buttons down the back.
âWho picked this one? Zoe, you look beautiful!â Viv said with tears in her eyes. Zoe turned to look at her friends and family, shrugging as she admired the buttons on the back.
âI did.â Zoe looked up in shock as Jake gave her a smile. He had picked the perfect dress for someone claiming to not care or know much about weddings. âFigured Bradshaw would appreciate this one. The man is obsessed with your damn ass.â He said, trying to brush off that he had found the dress. Zoe stepped down and walked toward the man, who raised a brow and groaned as she hugged him.
âUgh, why are you hugging me. Cut it out, Mitchell; itâs weird.â He said, pretending he wasnât pleased to have picked the best dress. When he went to stand to get away, she refused to stop hugging him.
âNope, I am thanking you. Get over it.â She laughed as he groaned before finally just allowing her to hug him.
âZoe, does this mean you have found your dress?â Camille asked as she tilted her head with a hopeful smile. Zoe paused before looking at her friends and her Aunt Viv.
âWait, hold on.â Lizzy said as she came into the room, surprising Zoe. She held a box in her hands as she smiled at her. âMy Mom wanted you to have this. Your something borrowed.â She said as she helped secure the veil in Zoeâs hair.
âI canâtâŠLizzyâŠ.â Her friend smirked as she rolled her eyes at her.
âYes, you can. She insisted, and before you say it should be me wearing it, bitch I still will one day. But you know better than to argue with me! Iâm a Kazansky, after all!â She laughed as she hugged her friend. âYou look beautiful, and FYI, Bradley is going to have trouble keeping his hands off of you!â She giggled as Zoe snorted.
âSo once more, Zoe, is this your dress?â Camille asked as Zoe looked at her reflection. The others were on the edge of their seats as Zoe turned toward them.
âFuck yeah. This is the dress! OhhâŠsorry, Iris.â She said sheepishly when the little girl giggled.
âYou said a bad word! Daddy, Aunt Z looks pretty!â She said excitedly as she danced around in her seat. TJ gave Zoe a stern look for a moment before grinning.
âShe does, like a princess!â He smiled as Iris shook her head, shouting no.
âUncle Bradley said she is a queen, Daddy!â She huffed, making the others laugh as Zoe held her arms out to her goddaughter. The little girl hopped out of her seat and ran to her, giggling. Zoe was almost scared to look at the price tag, knowing that dresses could be expensive, but Camille smiled.
âActually, I was told to mention that theâclass of â87 has paid? And a Mr. Slider said to say ahemâŠabout damn time.â Camille said, making Zoe look at her in shock before quickly looking at her Aunt with wide eyes.
âThey insisted and wouldnât take no for an answer, sweetheart.â Viv said with a smile as Zoe began fanning her face blinking back tears.
âShit, I am about to ugly cry. Why am I about to ugly cry?â She laughed as her Aunt hugged her. Zoe quickly changed into her regular clothes and stepped out of the fitting room. Camille was standing there with a smile on her face while the others were talking amongst themselves.
âNow I understand you also have scheduled your bridal partyâwell, some of them to look for their dresses today too. Our bridesmaid collection is to the left of the boutique. Letâs get everyone trying dresses todayâs measurements, and we can get started!â She said with a smile.
Zoe wasnât sure what dress she wanted them to wear, but she knew she liked the color dusty sage. However, after looking at several, she knew she didnât want short dresses, and she sure as hell didnât want the feathered monstrosity she saw before her.
âWhat about this one?â Amelia asked, holding up one with stars sparkling stars on tulle. She did like the stars but wasnât sure if the dress was what she was looking for. The tulle seemed to be a bit much, and while the stars reminded her of the ones Bradley had put on their ceiling a few weeks prior, the tulle was a bit distracting. Amelia hummed as she put the dress aside as one of the maybes and continued to look through the dresses.
âAny chance you can find the dress for them like you did me?â She asked Jake, who snorted and bumped her shoulder with his arm.
âNope. Thatâs on you, Mitchell.â He laughed as she stuck her tongue out with a huff. She watched as Iris looked through the dresses with a look of awe. Making her way to the girl, she knelt down.
âSee any you want to try on?â She asked as the little girl looked around with a hum. When she saw a dress on a mannequin, her eyes widened, and she pointed excitedly.
âThat one! So pretty!â She gasped as Zoe looked around for the dress. It was a white satin and tulle dress with faux flower petals and a satin sash that matched the color she was looking at for the otherâs dresses.Â
Finding her size, she led her to the dressing room as the girl danced excitedly. When the girl saw her reflection, she gasped and spun around.
âSo pretty! Aunt Z, I want it!â She giggled as Zoe led her out to show everyone. TJ seeing his daughter smiled as she spun around.
âHas anyone seen Iris? She is missing the princess here!â He said, pretending to look for his daughter, who giggled. âYouâre royal highness. Have you seen Iris?â He asked, dramatically bowing as Iris giggled.
âDaddy!â She said with her hands on her hips, reminding Zoe of Lizzy. TJ pretended to just realize that it was Iris and not a princess in the room.
âOh my goodness! Iris? I thought you were a princess! But you always will be my princess.â He said, picking her up with a grin. Over the last few years, TJ had become a great Dad, and when Zoe looked at him, she saw her Uncle Ice. The reminder that her uncle wouldnât be there made her tear up. There were so many people she wanted to be there that wouldnât. Bradleyâs parents, her Uncle Ice and Uncle Leonard, and the one that stung the most was her mother. She was reminded that most women shared this special day with their mothers, but hers never even acknowledged her. As if sensing her nieceâs train of thought, Viv made her way over and quickly wrapped her arms around her.
âShe was an idiot. And hey, you see that woman there?â She said, pointing to Penny. âThat woman, despite having broken up with your Dad multiple times, always called to check in on you. She always sent holiday cards. As far as I am concerned, Penny is your Mom. And since your dumbass of a Dad finally put a ring on her finger soon, she will be officially.â Viv said as Zoe wiped away a few stray tears. Penny noticing Zoe was tearing up, quickly made her way over.
âOh honey, whatâs wrong?â Penny asked, wrapping Zoe in a hug. When Viv told her, the other woman scoffed, it was no secret that Penny despised Mallory. âHey, you listen here, honey. I will do whatever it takes to make sure your day is as special as can be.â She said as Zoe gave her a smile.
âThanksâŠMom.â She said, not realizing at first what she said, but she realized how right her Aunt Viv was. Penny had been there for her for years, even when she wasnât with her Dad. But she also worried she overstepped. What if Penny saw her as only her Dadâs daughter? What if she only saw her as a surrogate niece, not a daughter? Penny looked at her in shock for a moment before hugging her close with tears in her own eyes.
âI am honored that you called me that, honey. But if you rather call me Penny, I am fine with that. But I will always see you as one of my daughtersâeven if I wasnât marrying your Dad.â She said, wiping away Zoeâs tears.
âI LOVE THIS ONE!â Shouted Mel as she looked at the dress Lizzy was holding up. Zoe looked toward her friends and gasped. The dress was the dusty sage she was looking for and was beautiful. The dress was an A-line silhouette with a halter neckline in soft tulle. The waist had a two-band detail that cinched the waist. The back was a spaghetti strap cross detail, a delicate ruching flowed from the fitted bodice onto the long and flowy circle skirt.
âYâknow, I like this one too. Camille, could we get fitting rooms for them to try this one?â Zoe asked as Camille came back with a grin.
âOf course! Now I understand you have another coming? You mentioned on the phone your fiancĂ© has a grooms-woman that will need a dress too. Will she be here soon?â She asked just as Natasha came running in with a grin.
âSorry, Iâm late. What did I miss?â Nat said as Zoe gave her a hug.
âYou missed Seresin here actually helping me find the dress.â She laughed, making Natâs eyes widen as she turned to look at Jake, who rolled his eyes with a smirk.
âNo shit, Bagman, I am impressed. But have you found a dress you want us to try yet? I just want to say I refuse to wear poofy. I love you and Bradshaw, but I draw the line at poofy and pink.â She said, making Zoe laugh.
âNo poof and no pink. There are three that are contenders.â She said as Nat turned to look at it. Each of the women in the bridal party and Nat find a fitting room and try the dresses on as Zoe sits with the rest nervously. She hopes at least one of the dresses works for each of the women. When each comes out of the dressing room, she gasps. The dress with the stars looks amazing on Callie, but she notices Belle eyeing it nervously.
âZoe, I love you, but I hope you donât like the one Callie has on. As amazing as it looks on her, I am not comfortable with the side boob action.â Belle says hesitantly as Nat eyes the glitter.
âHow much does that glitter shed?â Nat asked as Amelia brushed her hand on Callieâs shoulder and held a hand up. Nat winces and shakes her head.
âPlease, no, glitter is the herpes of the craft world.â She said, making TJ and Jake snort with laughter. Zoe then turns to look at the dress Amelia is wearing. It is a beautiful ruched top chiffon dress with fluttery sleeves and a more modest top compared to the star dress.
âOh snap! Zoe, this one has pockets!â Amelia says excitedly as Zoe takes in the dress with a hum. While she does like the dress, it just doesnât call to her. She then looks at the halter dress Melody, and Nat are wearing with a tilt of her head.
âOhh, pretty!â Iris says from Zoeâs lap as she looks at Natâs lavender dress, and Zoe has to agree.
âI love that color on you, Nat. But be real, which dress do you all feel most comfortable with? Let me know now before I pick one, and one of you hates it. I can even keep looking if you hate them all.â She says before she hears Jake snicker again.
âCan we just address the fact that Phoenix here is in a dress?â He laughs as the woman glares at him, making him laugh harder.
âI like the halter one, and it does have a bit of an open back which I am a fan of.â Callie said as the others in different dresses looked at it.
âIt does give off Greek Goddess vibes, and that kinda makes me think of your callsign. Which is a fun little nod.â Melody says with a grin as the others laugh.
âI do like the lack of glitter.â Nat laughs as Callie gives her a wink.
âWhat, you donât want to spread craft herpes at the wedding?â The aviators all laugh as Penny sighs, trying to hide her own laughter, but that changes when TJ clears his throat.
âLetâs please not teach my kid the word herpes. Itâs bad enough someone already taught her s-h-i-t.â TJ says with a stern look making the others laugh even harder.
âWait, who taught her the word shit? Was it you, Zoe?â Callie asked with a snicker as the brunette glared at her.
âNO, MAV!â Iris shouted with a giggle. Penny and Viv, at that point, are in tears from laughing. After the others tried on the halter dress, they all agreed it was the one they preferred, and Zoe grinned.
âThen damn, I think we found the dress. That was easy. And you know, Nat, I think I like that color on you instead of having you wear the same green as the others.â She grinned. Zoe knew she had been lucky some brides took months to find the perfect dress for their bridal party.
âI have to say you all are the easiest group Iâve ever had. Now, if you could go to the front desk, I can get your information, and you can order the dresses.â Camille said with a smile as she also handed Zoe a folder with information on each dress she selected today and the color swatches she chose.
That night when Bradley came home after spending the day with her Dad, he found her in the kitchen. She was sitting on the counter eating a pint of Snickers ice cream when he walked into the room, grinning. He placed his hands on her knees and moved to stand between her legs with a hum. She wore a cotton navy blue lace-trimmed thong with stars on and one of his tees. It was a sight he always loved to come home to.
âHoney, you are too damn cute when you do that little dance when you eat food you like.â He said when she took a bite and unconsciously wiggled happily. He leaned forward and kissed her as she smiled up at him and offered him a bite. Knowing she didnât share with everyone, he took a bite and smiled.
âI found my dress today and one for the girls too.â She hummed as he wrapped her legs around his waist with a grin.
âOh? And what can you tell me about it?â He asked as she giggled. She ate another bite of ice cream before offering him another.
âMost I can say is curves for days.â She said as his eyes widened, and he let out a moan before kissing her.
âSweetheart, you are killing me here. I love your curves!â He said as she placed the ice cream down to wrap her arms around him. âCanât wait until you are finally my wife. Zoe Bradshaw.â He beamed as she pulled him down for a kiss.
âI will never get tired of hearing that.â She moaned as he deepened the kiss. âSo we have a venue, a photographer, the dresses are settledâŠdoes that mean we can start trying food and cake?â She asked, making him chuckle.
âThatâs my girl. I love you, Zoe.â Bradley whispered as he carried her up to their room. He gently laid her on the bed before stripping down to his usual sleepwear. Crawling into bed behind her, he pulled Zoe close, kissing her.
âI love you, Bradley Bradshaw. And I canât wait to be your wife. Officially that is. Do you think the venue would let us bring Rio? Like what if he had a little bowtie and walked down the aisle with Sophie and Iris? âCause heâs a big babyâour big baby.â Zoe giggled as Rio strutted into the room and jumped onto the bed.
âWe never shouldâve let him sleep in the bed as a puppy. Between you and him, you two take up the whole bed. And you two are too fucking adorable to stay mad at.â He laughs as Zoe rolls her eyes with a snort.
âOh please, you are a human furnace, and hold me close like I am a damn teddy bear.â She laughs as she kisses him. His mustache tickles her shoulder when he trails kisses with a grin, making her squirm.
âWell, maybe you just wear too much to bed, pretty girl. Could always take my shirt off.â He grins as he slips his hands under the black tee making her snort.
âYou mean my shirt? This one is mine!â He hums in disbelief, shooting her a playful wink.
âIf you say so, you little gremlin. Youâre lucky you are so damn cute and that I love you, honey.â He laughs, giving her one last kiss goodnight.
âI know Iâm adorable.â She yawns before falling asleep in his arms with that distinct Mitchell smirk on her lips.

An Article from Neena Susan Thomas
âThrough a rapistâs eyes. A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewâŠed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:
1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun! , braid, or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.
2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women whoâs clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.
3] They also look for women using their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.
4] The number one place women are abducted from / attacked at is grocery store parking lots.
5] Number two is office parking lots/garages.
6] Number three is public restrooms.
7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they donât have to worry about getting caught.
8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isnât worth it because it will be time-consuming.
9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas,or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.
10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys youâre not worth it.
POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER:
1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk: canât believe it is so cold out here, weâre in for a bad winter. Now that youâve seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.
2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell Stop or Stay back! Most of the rapists this man talked to said theyâd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.
3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.
4] If someone grabs you, you canât beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh â HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.
5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guyâs parts it is extremely painful. You might think that youâll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and heâs out of there.
6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.
7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, donât dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel little silly at the time, but youâd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.
FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL âŠ.
1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.
2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans : if a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from youâŠ. chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver wonât see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DONâT DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU CLOSE the DOORS , LEAVE.
5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
a. Be aware: look around your car as someone may be hiding at the passenger side , peek into your car, inside the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. ( DO THIS TOO BEFORE RIDING A TAXI CAB) .
b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
c. Look at the car parked on the driverâs side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).
7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!
8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked âfor helpâ into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and itâs better safe than sorry.

He still remembered the day he met his future wife. The woman who he would fall head over heels in love with and that would be his utmost priority for the rest of his life. There was a time in his life in which he had never expected to find love. A rather long part of his life in which he could have never pictured marriage to be something for him.Â
Jake Seresin had been a ladies man. He had enjoyed being a bachelor and living his life freely. One woman after another he had in his bed, but never the same woman twice, during his time as a Cadet at Top Gun. Even later on when he returned for a mission that would change his life and gave him a group of friends and colleagues for just as long.Â
Just like the first gift of found family, life had given him this second gift. A woman to love, who was worth settling for.
Their wedding day would be one he would never forget. The moment she walked down the aisle in that beautiful dress, eyes sparkling with tears full of happiness and the brightest smile.Â
He had promised her everything that day. To make every day the best she had, better than the day before, for her to never be sad and always smile. He had promised to give her everything that she could need or want, and that he would make her happy.
And then, in the end, she was the one that gave him the greatest gift.Â
He was so tired that day. Work had been long and draining, he had lost hours of training to do maintenance on his plane to correct a mistake an engineer had made. One little mistake that cost him not just time but also lots of nerves.
Seeing his wife had made him smile. The smile she gave him in return was almost enough to melt away the exhaustion of his work day.
And then she gave him a small box, a present she told him, even though his birthday was still months away and there was no anniversary of theirs any time soon.Â
âWhatâs in it, Sugar?â he had asked her, curious and impatient to wait for the reveal until he untied the wrapping. She smiled and chuckled at him, not giving in. Then he pouted at her, to which she rolled her eyes and scooted closer to him.
âFine. One little hint,â she told him and pointed her finger up. Confused why she pointed her finger towards their ceiling he looked up. Hanging from the top of the room were two miniature airplanes. Replicaâs of the F-18 he flew on a day-to-day basis. On their sides were written in neat and ornate font âMr. Seresinâ and âMrs. Seresinâ. He had gotten the planes as a wedding gift for her.Â
âSweetheart, that's a horrible hint,â he told her and laughed at her playfully scandalized look.
âJust open it and youâll see,â she urged and he complied, finally done with untying the ribbon. It was a horrible habit of his to never rip wrapping paper or cut wrapping bands.
Opening the box the first thing he saw was more wrapping paper. Raising one eyebrow he looked up at her again.Â
âJakeee,â she whined, annoyed at his teasing and dragging this out. She felt as if she were sitting on very hot coals and very nervous about his reaction.
âOk, ok,â he muttered with a smirk and started to shove the white wrapping to the side.Â
His movements halted once he saw what was safely nestled in the wrapping. A plane. A tiny plane. He recognized that it was another F-18, even smaller than the miniatures he had gotten them. When he carefully took it out of the box he noticed the font on the other side. Turning it around he thought his heart might stop only to burst out of his chest the next moment.
âBaby Seresinâ
All of a sudden his throat felt dry and his heart was beating so fast and hard in his chest as if it might jump out at any moment. Looking up from the tiny miniature to his beautiful wife he swallowed.
Tears were glistening in the corners of her eyes as she was watching him, her lip between her teeth.
âIs thisâŠâ he started, entirely lost for words and struggling to complete a sentence. âAre you?â
The soft nod was all he needed. Placing the small plane onto the table he pulled her into his arms, burying his head on her shoulder as she quietly started sobbing. He would be lying if he said there weren't tears glistening in his eyes too.
âAre you ready?â Turning her head in the direction of her husband's voice she had to squint her eyes. Even with the strong sunglasses, the sun was blinding as it bleared down onto the landing strip.
Thatâs where they were. Standing in the middle of the tarmac on base. Not for work, not for welcoming someone back from a mission or sending someone off. No, it was much more private than that.Â
âIf I knew for what exactly,â she tried to poke again. Jake hadnât told her anything. He had refused to give her even the smallest hint. All she knew was that whatever he had planned for their gender reveal, it was big, even grand, and fitting. Thatâs what he had said, no, what he had boasted. Because Hangman had to be the best at everything if he could. And their darling little one deserved all the best as well.Â
Even now, instead of giving her a hint he just gave her his blinding smile. The same one she fell hopelessly in love with the first time she saw it.
One of his arms snaked around her waist and pulled her to him. With a kiss on her head he looked at her and even if his eyes were obscured behind his sunglasses, she knew he was looking at her with adoration and pure love.
âReady?â he asked her once again. Her breath hitched as he leaned closer, his other hand resting gently on her ever-growing belly. Since she had started showing he couldnât keep his hands off the bump. Stroking and caressing it every chance he got. Now his fingers were once again gliding over the soft fabric of her dress.Â
A single nod was all he needed. Jake grinned down at her before he turned back to the rest of the daggers and their partners.
âEveryone ready?â
On cue, the sound of a plane engine echoed over the open space. They all turned their heads towards the sound. In the distance, there was a small spot in the air that got bigger and bigger.
Quickly getting closer was a jet. The wind started to pick up with it. Sand got blown over the landing strip. As the jet neared even further the wind started to pull on their clothes as well. She could feel the air tug at the skirt of her dress, her hair starting to whip around her. Jake pulled her even closer so she was pressed against his side, shielding her from the harsh blow of the sand. Â
The moment the jet soared over their heads a gush of color shot out behind it. It formed a thick pink band through the air following the trajectory. Some of it bled out to the sides and there was even so much as a slight shower of colorful particles raining down on them.
Another gasp left her lips. One of absolute surprise. The pink was a stark contrast to the clear blue sky. Even then it took her some moments to realize the meaning. Turning towards her husband he looked as surprised as her. Both of them looked at each other until Jake spluttered a laugh. There was another one of his blinding grins forming.Â
âA girl,â she mumbled softly, as a grin of her own erupted on her lips. Before she could act Jake had raised her into his arms and spun her around. Her squeal quickly turned into laughter, mixing with his.
âA girl!â, he repeated, full of joy. At last, he put her down again, keeping his hands on her hips as she stumbled a bit. She was beaming up at him. âOne as pretty as her mom.â
He looked so proud at that moment, it made her heart jump. From the moment she met him, the confident pilot had surprised her in many ways. With his hands still on her hips, he leaned in for a kiss. One she granted him happily. He surprised her at that moment too, dipping her down low towards the ground, their lips continually locked.
Wolf whistles and whoops reminded them that they werenât alone. Carefully Jake put her on her feet - again. The daggers all grinned and beamed at them, happy for their friends and equally excited for the first baby of the friend group to arrive. They all seemed eager to flock to them with hugs and congratulations, Jake however didn't show any sign of wanting to let her go just yet.
Once more he pulled her to his side, one arm snaked around her as he softly pressed himself to her.Â
âI love you Sugar,â he told her, grinning down at her. âYou make me the proudest man there is.âÂ
Her heart soared. How much she loved him. He was everything she could have dreamed about, everything she could have ever wanted and so much more. She had never imagined finding someone that could make her this happy. Being able to give some of this back and seeing him so excited and proud of their soon-to-be-born baby was everything to her.
âI love you too Jake,â she told him softly. The moment between them could have extended into eternity. They could have stood there and lovingly stared into each other's eyes forever.Â
âQuit hogging her Hangman!â, came the joking jab of their friends as they had a much different idea. Laughter erupted through the group. Chuckling, the blond aviator lifted an eyebrow before he turned towards them.
âThatâs still my wife and not yours!â, he quipped back at them but ultimately let her go. In no time both of them were surrounded by friends and their partners, receiving hugs and congratulations from all sides.
It was almost too much as they excitedly talked over each other. Seeing the shared joy was amazing. Their little girl would be loved by all of them. Her uncles and aunts already adored her to no end.
Unsurprisingly in all the joyful chaos Jake and she ended up separated. Her husband stood together with Coyote, Payback, and Fanboy as well as their partners at one end of the group, while Y/N had ended up with Phoenix and Bob.Â
Jake vehemently denied it but the long and strenuous weeks of training followed by the very dangerous mission had brought him especially close to these two. Not only because they had flown together the most. She could see why he liked them so much. Both of them were lovely wonderful people, good friends and funny too. Phoenix was a top contender for the title of godmother as well.
But there were still two people unaccounted for. She knew they had come but now she couldnât see Rooster and his wife anywhere.
âSurprise.â A gasp left her mouth as she turned around to the hand that had landed on her arm. There they were. The missus was smiling at her, pulling the hand back that had startled Y/N so much.
âDonât scare me like that!â She scolded her jokingly. Both women looked at each other before they laughed and hugged.Â
To both Rooster and Hangman's misery, their wives had hit it off straight from the beginning. Something had just clicked and they had become best friends. Quite ironic. The two aviators werenât rivals anymore. After the uranium mission, they had buried whatever feud they had that went over friendly banter. Admitting their friendship, however, was as difficult as it had seemed for them to ever get along. Feigning squabbles and bickering was still their favored way of communicating. They loved to pout and whine around whenever their women wanted to meet up. It was like handling five-year-olds that didnât want to go on a playdate.
âCongratulations! A little girl, how wonderful.â She couldnât agree more.Â
âThank you. Iâm so glad everyone was able to come.â She knew they didnât have the shortest way. In fact, most of the group was divided into the two coasts between Lemoore and Oceana. It was hard to meet up and see everyone. They had made it their goal to come back to San Diego and meet up at the Hard Deck at least once or twice each year. It was a huge thing for them all to have been able to come to the reveal. It was a miracle everyone had worked out how to make it.
âOf course! I wouldnât want to miss this.â Rooster and his wife hadnât been able to make it to the last meet-up of the group, coincidentally the one where Jake and she had announced the pregnancy. Y/N knew that the missus had been bummed out about missing it and she herself had been bummed out too. So she was happy to get to share this day with her friend. In Person!
âLook at you! You are glowing. And that bump is so cute. Iâm so happy to see you!â Feeling the heat creep up on her neck to the tips of her ears, Y/N waved and shook her head.
âStop it!â she said with a laugh, waving off the compliments. She was glad when Phoenix decided to join in and change the topic.
âA little birdie told me you were considering moving closer to here? Does that mean we can expect you to join us in Lemoore?â Phoenix was grinning smugly at the inside info she revealed. That was news to Y/N. Very exciting news.
âIs that true?â she wanted to know immediately, already feeling the excitement about this prospect bubbling up in her.
âItâs in the talks,â the missus confessed shyly, âRooster still has a favor left from the big mission and is currently working on getting something organized.â That made her raise a brow. It sounded like there was another possibility too. San Diego maybe?Â
Before they could continue to chat about this Rooster joined their trio, greeting Phoenix and Y/N with a hug each and a congratulation, before he asked,
âDid I hear correctly that you havenât started with the nursery yet?â The way he raised one eyebrow and grinned made her snort. Why did it feel like he was enjoying this fact? Ready to use it to annoy his former rival?
âYeah, it isnât more than a glorified storage room with a new paint job at the moment. We got some furniture but it still needs to be built and there arenât any decorations yet.â, she told them. âWhy? Do you want to offer your help?â
Rooster snorted loudly before he gave a sharp yelp and mumbled an âOuch!â towards his wife who had pinched him in the side.
âIâm not sure Hangman would be happy about that.âÂ
She had to agree with that. âNo, he wouldnât be. You should have seen the scowl on his face when Coyote offered to help and insinuated Jake wouldnât be able to build a crib on his own.âÂ
The face the blond aviator had pulled was amusing to her even now. He had looked truly offended and later on mumbled something about flying fighter jets on a daily basis and being able to very well build a crib, how hard could that even be.Â
She didnât have the heart to remind him that the assembly of their bookshelf in the living room had nearly made him cry. To be fair the construction manual had been absolute garbage. She would never tell anyone else of this tale, even if it was tempting when Jake made her mad.
âOh!â She yelped. In an instant, three pairs of eyes were on her with varying degrees of concern.
âAre you alright?â, both Phoenix and the missus wanted to know, one hand reaching out to but not entirely touching her. It took Y/N a moment to collect herself before she smiled at them and nodded.
"Yeah. Just got surprised by a kick.âÂ
It was still a rather new sensation for her. While she had started feeling small flutters weeks ago, they had increased in power over the last couple of days. Their little one had gained a strength she wasnât used to yet and so it sometimes startled her. Especially when the baby girl had been quiet and calm before.
The concern vanished and was replaced by wonder and curiosity. She could see it in their eyes, both of them were dying to ask but too polite to speak up.
âWanna feel?â, she offered them instead. The enthusiastic nodding she received as an answer made her chuckle.Â
She grabbed Phoenix's hand first and placed it where the last kick had hit. The little girl was an active one once she started going. It was something Jake loved. He couldnât get enough of it.
She still remembered the first time he had been able to feel it. They had been laying on the couch, watching a random movie to wind down after a long and stressful day. He had slotted himself between her legs, with his arms around her middle and his head softly resting against her rounded stomach. While she had lazily stroked his hair the blonde had started to doze off.
Y/N had felt the small but steadily stronger growing flutters for a while already when Jake had suddenly startled and ripped his head in the air. He had scared her with the sudden reaction too. She had been concerned, thinking something was wrong until she realized what had startled him that much. He hadnât understood at first and thus had even accused her of teasing and poking him.Â
Phoenix gasped as she felt the little foot pushing against her palm and looked up at her with big, round eyes.
âWow⊠thatâs such a weird feeling.â Y/N laughed and nodded in agreement.
Then it was the missus' turn. When she felt the kick Y/N feared for a moment her friend would start crying. She was looking at her with glossy eyes and a quivering lip but also with the biggest smile she had seen on her.
âThis is so magical!â, she said and turned towards Rooster who had been quiet the entire time. He stood awkwardly beside the three women, looking around as if he didnât dare to look towards them.
âBrad, you have to feel this!â The missus urged her husband. Rooster looked slightly panicked at the suggestion, shaking his head and scratching at his neck in uncertainty.
âNo, itâs alright.â, he tried to wave off, looking around again to try and find a way out. Y/N smiled at him. She could sense he was nervous and unsure about this even if she couldnât tell why. Maybe he found it too intimate and didnât want to overstep or he was scared to hurt her in some way.
âItâs okay,â she told him softly, taking his hand in hers after his wife had pulled him forward. She wasnât going to let him go, so Y/N wanted to ease his nerves as best as she could.Â
âYou wonât hurt me, I promise.â He still looked unsure but ultimately swallowed and gave her a small nod. Only after he had given her this sign of ok she placed his hand on her bump, continuously smiling at him.
He had drawn his eyebrows together as they waited for the next sensation, with which the little girl waited a long time. But when she finally did the change in Roosterâs expression was immediate. His face relaxed, his eyebrows shot up in surprise and his mouth opened slightly in wonder.
âOh, wowâŠâ, he mumbled, stunned, which prompted the ladies around him to snicker. There was a redness spreading over his neck that was definitely not sunburn.
Jake on the other end of their friend group had been in a very interesting conversation with Coyote, his fiance, Payback, and his girlfriend when they all heard the laughter and giggling and turned towards it. He smiled softly, enjoying that his wife had found good friends in the people he valued so much.
There was one thing however that he had to look at twice and when he did he raised his eyebrows.
âExcuse me, fellas,â he told them, extracting himself from the conversation and weaving his way towards the group of four.
Y/N turned her head to the side when two hands landed on her hips and a body pressed itself to her back. She smiled up at her husband who kissed her on the head, before he acknowledged the others in the small circle, smiling and nodding at all of them. Then it was Rooster that got his full attention, as he narrowed his eyes and examined the other man carefully. Y/N noticed it. Even over her shoulder, she could see how Jake looked from Roosterâs face to the hand still resting on her bump. The blonde's fingers faintly tightened on her hips.Â
There was an unidentifiable look on her husband's face, gone as fast as it had arrived before he started to grin. It wasnât one of his happy, relaxed grins. This one reminded her of the beginning time when she hadnât known him for long. The wolfish, wicked grin that everyone had called the âHangman grinâ.
âImpressive isnât it?â, he said in a casual tone, yet one that underneath the surface oozed proudness. Rooster retracted his hand, she had felt his hand jerk before but the brunette forced himself to retract slowly and calmly. He didn't want to give Hangman any room for teasing.
âYou felt how strong our little girl already is?â It made her heart flutter to hear him call their baby like that, with so much affection. Even if he sounded smug and a little cocky. Y/N put her hand on top of Jakeâs on her side, softly squeezing his fingers. She knew it was only friendly banter. These two could not not bicker, it wouldnât be Hangman and Rooster if they didnât.
The brunette scoffed slightly but there was a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he raised one eyebrow.
âKeep grinning. I want to see what face you make when your kidâs old enough to date.â What a jab. Y/n had to press her hand onto her mouth to keep from giggling as she felt Jake stiffen behind her.Â
