This new bill has been introduced in both the house and the Senate.

Among other things, it will:

Raise the monthly disability income by just over 30 percent - bringing it to poverty level.

Remove penalties for recieving financial help from friends and family.

Increase the amount of assets a disabled person may have from $2,000 to $10,000 (this hasn't been updated since 1989)

Update outside income restrictions to allow disabled people to receive up to $399 a month without reducing their benefits.

REWARD, not penalize, people who want to receive additional income while on social security income.

For those unaware current regulations do a lot to oppress disabled people. In fact marriage equality doesn't even extend to disbled people who risk having their benefits reduced or outright taken away if they marry someone. This means that in common law states disabled people can't even live with their significant other or they risk losing their financial independence.

Current regulations mean that if you're disbled you can't have so much as one penny over $2,000 to your name. So buying a car and gaining more independence or freedom is largely out of the question for disabled people.

Current regulations penalize social security recipients who receive income from outside sources, even if those sources are reimbursement. Did you get paid to babysit for a few hours? That's income, and you get your benefits reduced. Did you loan a friend $10 and they pay you back? The government considers that $10 income, and you get your benefits reduced.

These aren't mere anecdotes - these are all examples of actual things that have happened to disbled people I know, and if you have any disabled friends in your life I'm sure they can tell you the same stories.

If you value marriage equality, if you value financial independence, if you value the rights of disbled people, please PLEASE support this bill! Contact your reps, vote, and make noise! This is a great thing!

Squid Came Characters saving their S/O from a game

Hi,sorry i haven’t posted I’ve been very ill and my school work’s piling up but here you go.

I changed a few of the games narratives slightly to make it fit,Like that deok-su and his team had a harder time winning tug of war,and Ali isn’t married,he’s in the game for another reason.

This was an idea from a request!

Warnings- mentions of violence and death

Includes-Jang Deok-Su (101), Ali Abdul (199), Seong Gi-hun (456), Kang Sae-byeok (067) and Triangle Guard

Jang Deok-su:

*It was most lightly a strength reliant game such as tug-of-war

*He knew that you were strong and surprisingly never tried to impose on that.

*But on this occasion you were tired, everyone was but you just got the bad end of it.

*Of course you were on his team,if you weren’t he was afraid that one of you would be eliminated.

*He wasn’t really paying attention to you,his attention was focused on the task at hand.

*You had insisted at going on the front,he objected heavily to that.Not only was he so prideful he HAD to be on the front but he was also very concerned for you,he’d never show it though.

*He opted to go behind you after battling with your iron-willed self

*The team you were facing was a lot stronger than anyone would have thought.

*His attention fumbled from the game to you as he noticed how near you were to the edge,one pull from the other team an you’d fall.

*The opposing team saw this as a chance to pull,sending you over the ledge,only to be held up in mid air.

*He had grabbed the rope as quickly as it fell and just pulled with all the strength in his body,keeping you in place and hauling you up.

*This caused the other team to loose their balance as the rope was being held still by Deok-su and the rest of the team in order to save you and themselves.

*This gave your team the chance to pull and send the other team tumbling to their deaths.

*When you got in the elevator going down,he just hugged you.

*It was the first time he’d shown true affection towards you around others,it was common in private but this was new.

*Putting his pride to one side he admitted he was scared and thought he’d lost you

*He slightly scolded you to not do something like that again but he really meant it,he couldn’t loose you.

Ali Abdul:

*During Red-light Green-light you’d had a pretty good running streak,understanding the game and abiding by the rules.

*The giant doll was progressively getting quicker and more difficult to prepare for

*Ali had noticed you from the very beginning,seemingly unfazed by the deaths of others around you,you’re main focus on the game.

*You peaked an interest in him,prompting him to stay close to you,slightly in front.

*The dolls’ singing continued as he looked behind him,noticing that you had stumbled on a stray body.

*Knowing that the doll would turn around any second he backed himself up and stood directly in front of you,shielding you from the dolls view.

*Once the singing continued,he helped you up by your hand and stayed in front of you protectively.

*He knew he had to get you through this game and he was intending to do that.

*Any time the dolls head swiveled around to stare at the players he made sure it couldn’t see or detect you.

*As the timer ran down with only 5 seconds to go,he shoved you hastily over the finish line,jumping to his own safety moments later.

Seong Gi-hun:

*Staring at the brittle honeycomb that lay in the small metal tin,you recognized the game as sugar honeycombs,a game that you had never been good at even as a kid.

*Now with this knowledge,choosing the triangle was a good decision

*You looked over towards Gi-hun in order to gauge his reaction and what shape he chose,he was sweating bullets.

*Sitting down next to him,you saw the imprint of an umbrella,looking back to your honeycomb,you traced the outline of the shape with the provided needle.

*Watching the clock count down,you began to panic,knowing how little time you had and how little you had done it was as good as over.

*You were at the point of giving up and accepting your fate until you felt a curt tap on your shoulder.

*Turning around you saw Gi-hun with his honeycomb,almost completely uncut,but he then began to like the back of it.

*You didn’t catch on right away,you just thought he had given up too but once he held it up to the light,you understood.

*Licking the back of the honeycomb would soften it and make the shape easier to slide out.

*You followed in his footsteps and began to lick it until you were able to take the triangle out with no bother.

*The timer had just ran out making you sigh in relief as you and Gi-hun showed your shapes to the staff,upon hearing your names on the intercom you took your leave.

Kang Sae-byeok:

*Everyone was on edge,the night was fast approaching and there was going to be fight or a killing.

*Sae-byeok suggested moving nearer her for the night knowing that you were nervous and because she was sure Deok-su would try something.

*You agreed,sitting on her bed waiting for the lights to turn off.

*As they did you just sat there with her,listening for any movement.

*A scream echoed through the room as a broken bottle was jammed into her neck.

*Moving off the bed with Sae-byeok you inched slowly to the group of guys in the corner,agreeing that there’s strength in numbers.

*But you caught the eye of some of deok-su’s gang who promptly ran over to you with self made weapons.

*Sae-byeok had noticed them already and took a metal bar from one of the many beds surrounding you.

*As they started to approach you,she swung at them harshly,hitting them in the jaw knocking them out.

*Rushing over to you she sat you down on a high bed and checked you over for any injuries or wounds.

*Until the lights came on she wasn’t letting you out of her sight,keeping her pocket knife at hand.

Triangle Guard:

*He was always very concerned whenever you played,there was always the possibility that you would be eliminated and he couldn’t stop it.

*But he knew he couldn’t just pull you out of them,he didn’t have that authority.

*He was on staff during the sugar honeycombs,watching over you and making sure that you won’t be eliminated.

*Walking around he saw you over by the slide and went over to you,seeing the fear in your eyes and the way you covered your tin,he knew what had happened.

*He asked you to let him see it,causing you to show the crumbled sweet treat.

*Picking up your tin,seemingly to inspect it he placed something into it and gave it back to you before walking away.

*Looking into the tin you way a perfectly cut shape replaced your mangled one.

*Smiling you showed one of the other guards and heard your name on the intercom,giving you your pass to leave.

having a family with ali abdul headcanons

ali wants to settle down. he wants a family so bad and he makes it clear to you that he wants to have a child at some point. adoption or birth, it doesn't matter. he wants to raise a baby and be a father, point blank period!

once he finds out that you're pregnant, he's over the moon. he's always wanted to be a father and now it's finally in reach

expect him to be hovering around you a lot. he'll make sure you're staying hydrated and eating well, concerned about your safety and health as well as your babies

he will baby proof everything. he insists on doing it so you don't have to. he'll love every single second of it, too. he's so giddy that a smile never leaves his lips as he covers up outlets and puts away any sharp objects

he'll lay next to you and talk to the baby. he'll look down at your stomach and just.. smile. he'll tell them about his day and how much he loves them already. you always feel your heart swell. you knew he would be an incredible father, but seeing it in action really brings it all together

if you aren't married already expect to be soon. he wants to settle down, like i said before. he loves being your boyfriend but he feels like husband is an upgrade so he would propose to you at some point. he loves you so much that he wants to marry you

when the baby does arrive, ali will help out so often. some fathers leave all of the work to the mother and he would never see the point in that. the father has just as much responsibility as the mother does

if the baby cries, he'll see you get up but he's already out of bed and tucking you in under the sheets again

"shh, go back to sleep. i'll take care of this." he'll say with a cheeky, loving smile

you can only nod at him and go back to sleep, thinking about how lucky you are to be with a man as lovely as him

he'll always be holding you or the baby. if he isn't then something is wrong because he has to be touching one or both of you at all times, it makes him happy

whenever he thinks about how he actually has a family with the woman he loves his chest swells and his heartbeat speeds up. he adores you with all of his heart and he's so happy he can spend his life with you

he'll play hide and seek with your baby as they lie in the crib. he'll love hearing them giggle whenever he disappears and reappears. it means the world to him knowing he's a father

as your child grows, ali will buy anything and everything they want. if they want a princess castle, he'll go out and buy it. anything is on the table because he loves your child so much

he will play with them. anything they want to play he'll do it. you'll take your child to a nearby park to let them play and he'll play with them and watch them, making sure your child and the other kids around them are staying safe

if you decide to have another baby, ali will be ecstatic when he finds out about it. he never wants to pressure you but he always wanted a growing family with a few children to raise with you. he was lucky with one but now you're having another one he would be so excited

he'll love this baby just as much as the one before and will be the best father for them growing up

ali will always help your children with everything. he is so grateful to even have them in the first place, so he'll do whatever it takes to give them the life they deserve

as his children are pakistani just like he is, he wants them to connect to their roots. he will teach them about their culture and even if you aren't pakistani yourself, he would want you to participate along with him

his culture is important to him, and so are you. he cherishes you and would love you to be a part of the culture he values so much. he would be so happy to hear that you would participate in it

he'd cook cultural meals for you and your family for dinner, anxiously awaiting your thoughts on it

he will teach your children how to speak urdu. it's important to him and important to you that they know about every single part of their culture

you'd teach them english, and if you spoke another language you'd teach it to them too. they would grow up being bilingual and you would be so proud of them

they would have multiple first word experiences and if the first thing they say in english is "dada" or something along those lines ali's heart will explode

This year, on the 31 March, we lost Gilbert Baker, gay artist and creator of the gay pride flag. Today we would celebrate his 66th birthday. Let’s remember him as the wonderful person he was.
