ARGUS, The Many-eyed Demi-god, Is A Psychic-type Mystical Fighter Who Specializes In Paralyzing Her Opponents

ARGUS, the many-eyed demi-god, is a psychic-type mystical fighter who specializes in paralyzing her opponents with her gaze and holding them in crippling mental pain. Nearly impossible to sneak up on, she maintains a vigilant defense against physical attacks with evasive hovering, as any contact with her eye-covered body can do serious damage. The large eye on her forehead, when opened, casts a heavily destructive wide beam of light, but it forces all of Argus's other eyes closed and leaves her vulnerable for the duration. An orbiting shroud covers the eye until she needs its power. Fighters that want to take on Argus should employ blinding techniques: bright flashes of light, obstructive smoke, or sprays of ink. While impervious to attacks of willpower, physical attacks can bring Argus down easily if fighters manage to blind all of her eyes.

Okay, now come up from that deep dark pool of nerdiness...this is Argus, my submission to Jenn Woodall's latest anthology zine, FIGHT! Round 1! It features many talented illustrators the likes of Kali Ciesemier, Sam Bosma, Jimmy Giegerich, Valentin Seiche + more, and it's gonna be rad as hell.

This is a Gummie Bear Wizard. You may not have heard of them before. They’re jolly and shy, and they mostly stay indoors and eat gummie bears all day.

Hello Again! Long Time No See! (sorry) Let’s Get Right Back To Business…

Hello again! long time no see! (sorry) let’s get right back to business…

My latest tshirt design for Baltimore’s Pizza Party Printing is THE LABYRINTH, full of leering goblins and everyone’s favorite tricky Goblin King. It’s available for pre-order now (and only for a very limited time), but you can also fight your way through (hopefully minimal) dangers untold and hardships unnumbered to the Pizza Party After Dark movie night at the Ottobar and watch The Labyrinth with us, say hello, have a slice of pizza, hang out, buy a shirt, save the stolen babe, what have you. Event details here!

It's cold in my house. But I'm enjoying a new scarf. But I ate a dissatisfying brownie. Trade-offs.

Hey, I'm a sophomore at MICA and I'll hopefully be taking your digital illustration class next semester. I thought your name sounded familiar and when I looked you up I saw that I've already been following you on tumblr, which was a really weird small-world moment. I just wanted to say hi, I love your work, and that I hope I can get into your class before it fills up!

Thanks! I hope you can too, but I think it HAS filled up already (my gosh!).

What kind of paper do you use in gouache?

I enjoy certain brands of cold-press watercolor (Canson's good) and print-making papers. Arches and Stonehenge are lovely for it. It depends a little how you work of course (more water, more weight to the paper) but I work fairly graphic, with less water, so I go with something around 100lb. You need a balance of appropriate weight and tooth. If your paper or board is too smooth, like hot-press watercolor or bristol, your gouache won't have anything to grip.

Reblogging my own post because GOBLIN. THE GOBLIN. IS IN BALTIMORE. TOnight. And I'm gonna see them and wear my own dumb shirt and it's gonna be the strangest, most rad time, and everyone? go ahead. be jealous.

"Suzy, Do You Know Anything About…witches?"

"Suzy, do you know anything about…witches?"

Suspiria, a masterpiece by Dario Argento. This trippy, amazingly surreal horror film is the subject of my newest tshirt design for Pizza Party Printing's upcoming movie night at the Ottobar. They'll be showing not only Suspiria, but the 1989 horror, The Church (paired with a fucking metal shirt by Jimmy Giegerich), so if you’re in Baltimore at the end of the month, be there! Immerse yourself in blood and beer (and the music of the one, the only Goblin). It’s gonna be spooky.

The Suspiria shirt is up for sale now at Pizza Party! Pick one up while you can!

Welcome To I Like Monsrs Wen They Fite!  20 Years Ago Today I Started Second Grade At An Elementary

Welcome to i like monsrs wen they fite!  20 years ago today I started second grade at an elementary school in upstate New York.  My teacher had us keep daily journals where we’d write and draw pictures.  I found this journal a few years ago and have decided now, exactly 20 years later, I need to share my drawings of monsters, Street Fighter II, dinosaurs, monsters, Mortal Kombat, X-Men, and monsters, as well as my teacher’s pretty passive aggressive responses to them.  This blog will be updated almost daily with a new page from my journal on the day that I drew it.

I Had The Pleasure Of Working With Francois Vigneault At Scout Books Again, On An Illustrated Set Of

I had the pleasure of working with Francois Vigneault at Scout Books again, on an illustrated set of their blank mini notebooks. My theme was, fantastically, the cosmos, so I went completely indulgent with this and decked out the constellations Virgo, Capricorn, and Perseus in gleaming gold armor. My kind of project! This was a lot of fun and I'm psyched to have been paired with the talented Lisa Perrin whose beautifully illustrated set will be released in conjunction.

If you're in Baltimore a week from today, we will both be at Trohv in Hampden for a little release party for the notebooks from 6 - 8pm. Stop by, pick up a set and say hello! Event page here. Hope to see you there!

SPX COMETH!

Check this oouuuuttt...

Here's "Ugs, Fugs and Grossos", 28 pages of ug-ass mugs, fug-ass fugs, and gross-ass grossos; and "Executioner and Friend", dungeons, dragons, and dick jokes, each by Jimmy Giegerich.

"Heroical #1" is an 11" X 14" zine by David Plunkert chock full of weirdo super hero stuff, and playfully off-beat heros.

The very exciting "Fantasy Basketball" by Sam Bosma will be in the mix as well and it's sure to be mind-blowingly good.

Alex Fine is debuting "Il Bruto", a hilarious collection of Charles Bronson pin ups in classic action movie rolls.

"Warlow's Guide to Wizards, Sorceri & Familiars Arcane" by yours truly will be there of course!

Two new comics from Haleigh Buck of Hey Boy Comics will be debuting as well: "Herman the Hot Dog" and "Internet Diarrhea", sure to be goofy-as-hell, wildly inappropriate, and full of schadenfreude.

Last but not least, Kali Ciesemier will be selling some gorgeous prints of her work that are not to be missed!

That's what we got for you guys! Come to tables M5-M8 to get your hands on it all! We'll see you there, pals.

"Greetings Dear Reader, Fellow Student Of The Arcane Such As You Must Be. You Have Selected This Guide

"Greetings dear reader, fellow student of the arcane such as you must be. You have selected this guide in your search for a spirit ally, a familiar..."

I'm psyched to announce my newest zine debuting at SPX this September, Warlow's Guide to Wizards, Sorceri & Familiars Arcane. It's a helpful tome for young magi as they make the important choice of a familiar that will accompany them throughout their magical growth. Featuring illustrations of notable witches and wizards and their partners, along with specimen charts and helpful notes from the "author" himself, the great wizard Warlow.

Printed on Cougar natural off-white stock with 3-color interiors and a screen-printed cover. I'm having tons of fun creating these characters and I'm excited for you to see the zine in its entirety at the expo. Hope to see you there!

(Check it out on SPX's debut page here.)
