Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for all your support for Heartstopper this year!

Since going on hiatus from the comic, I have been incredibly busy with the release of the Netflix show, then writing season 2 in an extremely short timeframe, and also creating the Heartstopper Yearbook. I want to be honest with you all and let you know that my health is not great right now. Due to extreme overworking, stress, and a lack of breaks over the past several years, I am dealing with some mental and physical health issues, and therefore I am not yet able to return to making the comic.

The hiatus will continue while I try to rest and heal, so that I can come back to the comic with energy and passion for the story. 

From the bottom of my heart I am sorry that the comic has been absent for so long. It makes me want to cry whenever I think about how long it’s been. I am very proud of the TV show, and I am in love with how season 2 is shaping up, so I hope the sacrifice was worth it. I promise I will try to heal so that I can return to the comic in 2023.

Name: Heikegani

Alternate Names: Samurai Crab

Mythology: Japanese Mythology (But they actually exist as well! There are just many myths surrounding the animal)

Size: Small, the size of a house cat.

Environment: Ocean, beaches, cliffs

In Mythika: Because of some unknown, bizarre curse Heikegani’s came into existence. Every time a samurai commits suicide its spirit will be cursed and bound onto a simple small crab animal. The spirit/soul merges with the little crab and it gains a sinister and evil form of intelligence, while the spirit of the samurai is doomed to forever (as the crabs become immortal) guard the small vermin against attackers. Heikegani can use their pincers as hands and use them to grab small weapons (mostly magical weapons) to fight with, whenever an enemy attacks the dog-sized crabs however the spirit of the samurai will appear with a spiritual weapon and attack the soul of the enemy, while they can’t touch the flesh of a victim they do extreme damage to the spirits/souls of the creatures. When the Heikegani crab is killed in battle the spirit finally finds rest, however, if another crab is close the spirit will instead just replace itself into the other crab and the curse continues. The Game Sprite I have in mind for Heikegani is awesome, a little crab with a samurai-like mask decorated on its shell, holding some samurai sword in one of his pincers that is guarded by a awesome Samurai spirit/ghost, still dressed in his gear.

Ronin Heikegani are a special breed, they are created from the souls of Ronin Samurai (Samurai without a master) which merge themselves with Karkinos or Giant Crabs.  They are much more powerful than the common Heikegani.

FFXIV Warrior of Light - level 16 vs level 60.

I’ve really been enjoying XIV, it’s in many ways just the most perfect game. Story-telling is on-point and so much variety in what you can do. I still wish I didn’t have to deal with the ‘MMO’ part of the MMORPG, but overall it’s the best game I’ve played in ages.

Here’s my WoL’s progression from start of Realm Reborn to end of Heavensward (which is where I’m up to). He’s an old OC but rarely in the spotlight, and never the main character… so this whole trip has been both strange and enlightening for him!

The Tale of the Demon King | An FHQ Fairy Tale [1-2] [3-4] [5-6] [7-8] [9] [10-11] [12-13] [14-15] [16-END]

So… kinda nervous sharing this project online, because it’s not like my other comics and it’s suuuper stylized… but today is day 6 of iwaoi week and one prompt is “fairy tale“!!

After doodling the FHQ!iwaoi card art, I started thinking about why Oikawa/Kuroo would break bad in a serious version of FHQ… and then I wrote and illustrated a whole FHQ fairy tale picture book. (click thru/embiggen for the crispy hi res images)

All the lineart’s done, so I’m posting pages as I color. Plan is to post 2 pages every other day or so, tho I do have 3-4 queued up for tomorrow! Here we goo

we’re cool 4 the summer

So season 2 is here and that means Ume needs a season 2 look! I’m slowly working on refining her original design and this is the part I was most excited for so I did it first! 

Dotting around the pacts felt a bit weh to me, I wanted them more cohesive and I really liked the idea of having them all on her back. There’s like a lil…. reference? I guess in the design, kudos if you get it!

I was catching up on Drawga on youtube and ended up drawing the Ladies Book Club

Wrestling myself out of an art block with some terrible fantasy detectives
