I'ma get a personal with yall for a bit.
The Heart Pirates sit in a special part of my brain, and they play a decently important role. I struggle, inside, a lot and I often turn to content/fanfiction/artwork of the Hearts as comfort when it gets too much, or that edge gets a little too close.
Penguin specifically is a very dear comfort of mine, and I always imagine what it would be like if he had something to say, to help during those bits. I made this for myself, but half way through it, I thought that if I find so much comfort with the Hearts, I'm sure there are others of you who do also...
I've come to really appreciate you guys on here; coming back to this platform has done something surprising for my art and confidence in it. So I decided to share this with you guys in case any of you may need to hear/read something like this... take it however you'd like, however you need to.
I have a few more of these planned, Shachi especially I want to do next. The message I have for him to share is one I think a lot of us need to hear more often... I know I never heard it and it impacted my mental design a lot...
Hopefully Penguin can help you; especially if you're like me and you dont let others in when it's hard.
We're all Hearts here, though. We all deserve this life as much as any stable person. So if you cant count on people out there, that's why we have the people here and characters in there.

Are fedoras really that bad?
YES YES THEY ARE
THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN
So Netflix is releasing this animated movie but hereās the thing - all backgrounds are done in AI. No actual BG artists were hired or credited for this work.Ā
And hereās the kicker - I gave them too much credit. I realized that not even the AI users are credited apparently.Ā
Check this out:
ā+Humanā. No names, no nothing.Ā
I know itās tempting, but please donāt hate-watch this thing. Numbers equal profit even if the people watching are just doing it to mock. Donāt give Netflix and other studios even more incentive to fire more animators and replace them with machines trained on their work and skill. Hilariously, the excuse used is āthere arenāt enough artistsā. Thatās not true - there are more than enough artists, but the real issue is that no one wants to pay a living wage. Hereās a short video about the reality of animation in Japan.Ā
The biggest winners in this equation at the end of the day are the AI infrastructure owners - owners of Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, etc. Do not feed this machine, it creates more monopolization of entire industries, raises a powerful few and dehumanizes the rest.
EDIT: a lot of people are unsure what the animeās called - itās The Dog and the Boy.
