I started watching the x files on this day 2 years ago, so here's some experiments with style/composition to celebrate it I guess. some details are under the cut

Here's everything we know about season 18 so far:

The season is going to be focused on JJ and Tara

The official plot summary for the season is "six months after fellow inmates attacked the notorious Sicarius Killer aka Elias Voit, leading his restless followers on the dark web to begin wreaking havoc all over the country. In order to stop this nefarious group from killing more innocents, the BAU is forced to once again work in concert with an increasingly unpredictable Voit, who of course has his own agenda"

The episodes are called: 'Swimmer's Calculus', 'The Zookeeper', 'Time to Say Goodbye', 'I'm Fine, It's Fine. Everything is Fine', 'The Brutal Man', 'Hell is Empty...', 'All the Devils are Here', 'Tara', 'CollateRal', 'The Disciple'

Episode 1 will air on May 8th and the episodes will continue to air weekly after that (according to TVLine)

The summary for episode 1 is "when bodies wash up ashore in Maryland, autopsies reveal a new threat". The summary for episode 2 is "Voit awakens from his coma, the BAU discovers a dormant Network killer"

Sandy Jareau (JJ's mom), Henry Lamontagne, and Vincent Orlov (Voit's lawyer) are all confirmed to be returning (either through photos from set or through interviews with Erica Messer)

Two new characters, Dr. Ochoa played by Aimee Garcia and an unknown character played by Linda Lavin

Dr. Ochoa is "one of the country's leading neuropsychiatrists who is assigned to help a high-profile patient recover from his injury-induced brain trauma [who] clashes with Alvez, who believes in a more aggressive approach than her gentle approach"

Spencer Reid will be returning for a cameo. It will be for a major life event and fans will be happy about the reason why he returns according to Erica Messer and Paget Brewster

This season will be more about standalone cases rather than one overarching storyline (but the unsubs will still be connected through Voit's network)

Scenes for s18 have been filmed at a cemetary, JJ's house, and a hospital

Voit is going to be more vulnerable this season and we're going to see a different side of him

At the beginning of the season, Rossi is being investigated by internal affairs for Voit's attack

the x files is maybe the funniest show ever cause almost always if they do something crazy to mulder or scully in an episode they do roughly that same thing to the other at some point.

were you disappointed that mulder spent all of unusual suspects messing around with the gunmen but scully didn't get to? three of a kind.

angry that scully keeps getting kidnapped or held hostage like in irresistible and our town? kill switch and drive.

annoyed that mulder went crazy in pusher and pulled a gun on scully instead of the other way around? wetwired.

tired of only mulder's exes showing up in fire and the end and making scully jealous? lazarus and all things.

mad that mulder was the only one to be intensely invested in the cases in conduit and paper hearts? beyond the sea and all souls.

frustrated that mulder got to have an ill-advised affair with a murder suspect in 3 and scully didn't? never again.

wish it had been mulder obsessively calling scully while she ignored him in favour of the case in war of the coprophages? chinga.

feel it's unfair that one of mulder's relatives got shot in anasazi while scully's family were all perfectly healthy? the blessing way.

find it odd that only scully had a brain tumour throughout her cancer arc? the gift.

irritated that in duane barry, ascension, and one breath, only scully got abducted and experimented on by aliens, then returned with little to no explanation and stuck in a weird coma for a while? requiem, this is not happening, and deadalive.

Imagine having been born in 1905... And all your life it doesn't fucking stop. The Great War, the Spanish Flu, and then you go out of your mind for 7 years. Everyone is traumatised and nothing matters. Then another crash. And then the rise of fascism, and the War to end all Wars didn't and it's 1945 and you're just about still there. You may have fought or ferried the boys from Dunkirk or sabotaged the Nazi occupiers or worked in the factories and put out fires during the Blitz and you're lucky to be alive, because not all your friends made it. But you are and finally, fucking finally, it stops. It stops. You are tough as nails and you can put that strength to work into building something and you do, and people have cars and can buy icecream and you have a pension fund and the kids have money of their own and no nightmares.

I want that for us. I so want that for us. I want to be the generation that has seen fucking everything and is like a MRSA bug and unfazed and when that Cheeto finally dies, I want us to. Plant the gardens and clean the seas because we can and we want to and we remember some joy, some time of trust even when it got broken and we can say to the 20 somethings "let us show you what we can build, how it can feel."

And maybe Gen beta will take it all for granted like the boomers did, but we can give Gen Z and Alpha some peace because we, and Gen Z and Alpha have seen the Dark Times and fuck that noise.

so incredibly based of the bones writers to make Brennan autistic as fuck then have every man who meets her attracted as hell to her AND they dont stop being attracted to her when she does her autism thing, in fact most of the time it makes them more attracted to her.

shes blunt, overly serious, she thinks literally and is extremely competent in her field and the men on this show go "wow that was hot"
