Piandao: I think your new grandson just showed up at my house for sword training
Piandao: he doesn't know shit
Youâre something special, Jim.
Sokka is the member of the Gaang that scares me the most because while Katara, Toph, and Aang are all extremely powerful and talented they all consistently trained with immense dedication and effort. Meanwhile Sokka learns fighting techniques in a matter of days. He's a skilled welder but this never comes up after a couple of episodes. He's instictually good at haikus??? He's a skilled inventor and scientist but I have no idea where LEARNED it in the first place. I imagine he grew up hunting and trying to defend his village. He fucking invented the submarine during the series. Sokka is TERRIFYING not because he's more powerful than any other member of the group but because he picks up skills so quickly. If he had the time consistent training and instruction he would too powerful

Drabble prompt, something about Momo, exactly 100 words
Oh no my weakness-- 100 word drabbles that I canât expand on! (this is why I cheat and do a drabble-series) Hereâs... several more drabbles than you asked for about Momo adjusting to having a family(I enjoy writing Momoâs POV way too much, this is a problem. Will I be posting *another* Momo drabble collection to ao3 now? Yes. Youâve awakened a monster.) 1. Warm
The best part of being in a conspiracy again is the warmth.
This-lemur-now-Momo curls against his boy's heartbeat and twitches an ear as the soft breath tickles it. His boy is warm and his boy is gentle, and when his boy's heartbeat picks up and begins to race faster than Momo's when he's being chased, his boy never moves. Momo snuggles close, under his chin and his boy laughs quietly.
If Momo didn't know any better, he'd think his boy was dead. But Momo can feel his boy's heartbeat, and he can see the tear sliding down his boy's cheek.
2. Soft
The girl-who-smells-like-the-sea is softer than his boy. Momo laments the time he wasted before learning this because she is so soft, and her hair smells so nice, and she always knows where to scratch his ears. She is kind and gentle and he knows why his boy always gets so warm and flustered when she's around. He likes her for his boy. She makes his boy happy, and his boy breath easier.Â
When his boy has all the fury of a thousand suns under his skin, and his boy scares Momo, she is there. Calm and steady, like the sea.
3. Bright
Momo isn't sure what to call the last member of their conspiracy.
He is least soft of the three tall-wingless-lemurs, though he and ocean-girl are tied for least warm. His boy is just much warmer than the others. The tall-wingless-lemur isn't soft, and he isn't warm, and though he smells like death still, Momo isn't afraid anymore.
This boy brings the brightness forth every night, though, the strange burning warmth that Momo fears in his bones. The brightness is like the boy--something dangerous, something that could hunt Momo down if it wanted.
Momo leaps onto the shoulder of the bright-boy.
au where sokka, not their mother, is the one who sacrifices himself for katara (inspired by this post about sokka looking like his mom)
Sokka and katara are together in their house when the southern raiders attack
Their parents are out when the soldier yon rha breaks into their home
He knows that the north only trains boys in waterbending⊠he thinks the south is the same way
The kids are cornered by yon rha, who tells them
âI wonât hurt you kids if you tell me who in your village is the last waterbenderâ
Katara is terrified and knows heâs come for her
Sokka looks at his sister and thinks itâs up to me to protect her
So he says âitâs me. Iâm the last waterbender of the southern tribe.â
Yon rha was planning to kill the last waterbender, but itâs only a child⊠he decides to kidnap sokka instead
Katara watches as her brother is dragged away, unable to stop the man as he takes sokka from her
All thatâs left of sokka is his beloved boomerang
Yon rha takes sokka to a fire nation prison far inland in the earth kingdom colonies, even though heâs the only child there. Without a master or water around, he reasons, sokka is no threat.
Katara still has both parents, but sheâs lost her brother and best friend and feels that itâs her fault
Sokka grows up in prison, learning how to fight when heâs smaller and weaker but cleverer than his fellow prisoners
As the only child in the prison, sokka has to play up his role as a harmless and agreeable kid. Heâs funny and the other prisoners derive amusement from it, which means theyâll keep him around
He never forgets his water tribe roots though, or his family
Katara grows up lonely and determined, learning to hunt with the boomerang and a spear and waterbending all together. Sheâs not the caretaker role now, but the angry rebel daughter, brave but rash and proud and desperate to prove herself
One day sheâs out hunting alone when she discovers a very special iceberg. Curious, she breaks it open immediately (bc letâs be real sokka is 95% of her impulse control in canon)
When sokka is fifteen, he successfully escapes from prison and makes his way west to the coast
He gets ambushed in the forest one day, and almost gets killed by a boy with hooked swords who accuses him of being fire nation (his prison shirt is red)
Sokka argues âno! Iâm water tribe!â jet doesnât believe it at first, but the blue of his eyes doesnât lie
Jet is impressed by sokkaâs fighting-dirty style and great aim and invites him to stay
Sokka joins the freedom fighters but is disgusted when he learns about jetâs distorted sense of justice. He starts planning a way to overthrow jet from the inside
Meanwhile, katara and aang travel north to find a waterbending master, and they just so happen to run into jet while flying over a forest
When they get to the treehouses, they run into a skinny, scrappy dark-skinned boy whose jaw drops when he sees katara
She doesnât recognize him at first, and then all at once she does
âSOKKA?â âKatara, is that really you?â
Thereâs much crying and hugging and âhow are you here?â
Sokka explains his plan to katara and aang, and they know not to trust jet
Jetâs plan is foiled by sokka and gaoling is never flooded
Katara gives sokka back his boomerang (âYou kept it all this time?â âOf course. Iâm probably better at it than you are, now.â âNo way!!â)
They fly north. Katara has to relearn her brother, relearn his mannerisms and his personality. Sheâs surprised by how little heâs changed, even though heâs been through so much
Sokka is a harder version of himself, sharper and more cautious. But he still has his sense of humor and his clever plans, his same hairstyle and bright blue eyes.
I had a lot of fun watching the reboot the other day!!So here is a month old sketch to celebrate~
idk, maybe Sokka's just really emotionally attached to his boomerang because he lost his mother and he's really scared of losing his father and the boomerang is literally designed to always come back to him đ„ș
