Reading Hilda Furacão, the novel (I'll post my general impressions here once I'm done), and confirming an impression I had about the show and the general opinion of those who watched it, particularly non-Brazilians who are not used to our way of doing telenovelas. Basically, the consensus (?) that the story should focus more on Hilda and Malthus and even ignore some of the other storylines is based on a misconception surrounding what the story is actually about. Drummond's novel, as well as Perez's screenplays, is not about a forbidden romance, though the romance is part of the story, but a chronicle of a city - maybe even a whole state - during a certain period of time. The title is Hilda Furacão because her character is central to that city and that time, she kind of embodies the zeitgeist if you will, but she's not exactly a protagonist, but simply another player in an immense group of people that embody a clash of ideologies, a certain sense of religiousness, an obliviousness to what's to come. In that sense, she and Malthus are, in the end, as important as Roberto or Dorinha or Loló Ventura or even fucking Tunico Mendes, and it makes sense for the plot to not focus so much on them. Of course, whether you like it or not is another matter entirely, but this is not a bug, it's a feature.
goodnight :)
If you are on Sapnap's alt stream (or any stream but especially SapnapAlt) please read these basic twitch etiquette rules and tips. Kinda negative but sometimes bullying works.
1. Get BTTV. Google BTTV download the BetterTTV browser extension. It's 100% safe.
2. If you want to donate to be noticed please gift subs instead not only is it helping the community but streamers prefer gift subs.
3. Don't mention other streamers in chat. If another person starts streaming don't announce you're leaving just fucking leave.
4. Don't promote yourself or anyone else on someone's stream. That includes asking for a sub.
5. Don't spam chat. No joke needs to be spammed for 20 minutes and re-mentioned every stream after that.
6. Call streamers by the name they go by whether it's their birthname, nickname or Twitch username. Nicknames aren't funny. For example stop calling Sapnap Cracknap, Snapchat, Samsung Refrigerator etc. If their friends give them nicknames it doesn't mean you can especially if you overuse and ruin it. If they don't go by birth names don't use it. Clay, Nick, Luke, Dave etc remove that shit from vocab.
7. If you do want to donate please understand that stupid questions and donations aren't appreciated by streamers or viewers. If you donate saying any of these messages just know chat doesn't like you and the streamer probably think you're cringe.
"Can you say Happy Birthday to"
"Can you say Hi to"
"Can you read my DM/email"
"You ignored my last dono"
It doesn't matter how polite you are it's still dumb. If you are donating purely to be noticed, don't.
8. Don't call out lurkers. If Dream is watching but doesn't speak in chat don't spam chat saying hi or saying "Dream is lurking"
9. Don't ask streamers to join VC or add people to call
10. This is for DreamSMP members only but don't inform them about what happens in other lore streams. Like everyone spamming Phil, George and Techno about Dream being in prison, they know but the characters don't. Also stop spamming everyone to visit Dream in prison. It's arranged by both Sam and Dream since they both need to be online.
11. Don't say personal details. No age reveals. No location reveals. No full name reveals. Please stay safe.
DONATING TO A STREAMER MEANS YOU ARE DONATING WITHOUT GETTING ANYTHING IN RETURN. YOU WOULDN'T GIVE MONEY TO A DOG'S SHELTER AND EXPECT ANYTHING IN RETURN. SAME THING GOES FOR STREAMERS. DONATIONS AREN'T A PLACE TO GET A NOTICE. THEY AREN'T A PLACE TO BUY A HAPPY BIRTHDAY COMMENT.
FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT DONATING AND BUYING ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. Buying means you exchange one product for another for example you give money in exchange for a new phone. Donating is you helping someone out without them doing something in return. Please learn that.
had to be said
actually fucking insane that the moment posts about mohammad and shaima's fundraiser turned their focus on the boys of their family still stuck in khan younis, donations slowed down so drastically. it just goes to show that people truly don't care for arab men, because to them arab men are not worth the same care and effort as women and children. and that really hurts me bc i can't even stand to think of my uncles, my cousins, my dad in the situation so many palestinian men have found themselves in - let alone teenage palestinian boys. please donate what you can and help spread this. arab men deserve your sympathy as much as anyone else.
technoblade is a beautiful soul. he’s taught me a lot about life— but the one thing he’s always taught me is that doing things you love and not caring about what people think is the way forward.
i love him. i will love him forever and always, and i know that he will overcome this just as he has overcome every other bad thing that life has thrown his way.
and in his honour, please wear a god damn mask.
this is so incredibly funny
A well needed Reminder, for a few of you in particular
