Building up to episode 24 I was expecting something written with the purpose of being angsty, like a real tear jerker you know?
But what we got, oh god what we’ve received, it’s so much better than that
This episode was so much more sincere than I expected it to be- it wasn’t written to be sad: It was written to continue the the two season long arc of Osomatsu’s character development, it was written with purpose and love
And you can feel it, you can feel the love the staff put into this episode
First off, the animation is FUCKING GORGOUS in this episode
Like, this whole season has been a huge improvement when it comes to the overall quality of the art, lighting, and the overall smoothness and effort put into the animations
But this episode takes the cake
Everything is so beautiful to look at- watching them even do simple everyday tasks was euphoric
god
fuck
DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN THIS EPISODE WAS HOLY SHIT
There’s just so much continuity, subtlety, attention to detail whan it comes to parrells between shots in this and other episodes
When Oso’s walking around aimlessly without his brothers, he passes by several different locations throughout town- these places are the exact same places he saw his brothers in episode two of season one
And in the sky, in the season one episode twenty four, they’re all conected by the same moon
But in this episode, there’s no moon at all, Oso is completely severred
GOD THIS EPISODE IS SO FUCKING DELICIOUS FINALL SOME GOOD FUCKING FOOD
and finally
the most important thing of all
WE FINALLY GOT A COMPLETELY OSO CENTRIC EPISODE
FUCK ME
His development from season one is absolutely some of the most amazing character growth I’ve seen in a long time
In Season One epsiode twenty four Osomatsu is:
- violent and irrational
- closed off emotionally
- ageinst the idea of getting jobs
- doesn’t take care of himself
- most likely (because of his low self awareness) he doesn’t really understand what it is he’s feeling
- let’s decisions of others affect his life
BUT NOW, ONE SEASON LATER, OSOMATSU IS:
- Coping with stress in a healthy manner
- Openly expressing
- The first to suggest getting a job to support their father
- Is bathing, eating, and even doing chores
- Has reflected upon his feelings
- Gaining enough confidence in himself to want to make decisions seperate from the group
And even though he’s still afraid of change, still suffering from his identity complex and from dissociation, evn though he’s lonely; he’s still able to handel the failing health of his father, isolation from his brothers, and a minimum wage job
Hes the best boy in the whole world
amen

〘 #46: Reason to Fight 〙
Gokudera Hayato
I’ve always felt like something about the end of the Reigen Manga felt familiar and well I came to the realization
Reigen wondering into the woods to die alone after losing losing everything he had left because what he did that he thought was right was wrong while carrying the burden of dozens of spirits he meant to carry to save someone he cared about was really...
Oh
…. I want to talk about this. Specifically Shigeo’s lines. I honestly have no idea how this will manifest in the anime—whether it gets cut out or changed in translation—but I interpret this as a form of self harm. Mob is overwhelmed with grief and self-loathing from the realization of what he’s done to Teru in this moment (he only became internally lucid a few pages ago, when Teru kneeled before him, pounding his chest and screaming his name). Even though he’s “woken up” from his coma-like state, he’s not in control of ???%/‘Shigeo’s’ actions and cannot stop his body from hurting Teru. He’s seeking punishment for this, asking Teru to be violent toward him and to use his powers to subdue and hurt him. Convincing others to hurt you as a form of punishment is a self-harm behavior.
Well, he’s actually trying to convince Teru to hurt ???%/“Shigeo”, with Mob himself as acceptable collateral (“You don’t have to think of ‘that’ as me…Yes! Use your psychic powers on me!”)
And then, a shot of Mob’s teary eyes wide with horror as he thinks, “Better yet, just hurry up and…”
I personally think he was about to try and encourage Teru to kill him.
The way he words it builds it up as a step beyond hurting him and using powers against him. He honestly looks a little out of his mind in that panel. This is quite literally Mob’s worst fears realized to the most intense possible degree. It’s a waking nightmare, and he’s spent every day since hurting Ritsu trying to avoid this. He’s overcome with such intense panic and self-hatred at hurting another person he loves. I’m pretty sure he’d rather die than be doing that.
This entire scene makes my stomach drop when I read it. Something about this whole arc is just so… grown. And real. It feels deathly serious in a way fighting with floating skyscrapers and defeating a supervillain organization doesn’t. This scared little boy wants to be seriously hurt because he feels like there’s no other option, and he feels like it’s deserved.
I’m not looking forward to Wednesday. :(
Just talking with an old friend.
Okay guys I am currently living for ekurei and I can't resist talking about it. Even tho I'm not a fan of seeing dimple depicted as that one security guard, it does provide an interesting window into how he would act if he had the opportunity to have more physical closeness with others. Especially regarding reigen. Cuz I mean. Just LOOK at this, it melts my heart in some indescribable way
Dimple's face nearly nuzzled in reigen's hair as reigen comfortably leans back into him in the first pic, dimple annoyingly putting his arm around reigen in the second, reigen with both hands on dimple's shoulders like a motorcycle girlfriend in the last one,,, I love their weird little "I don't like him but we're locked in beyond comprehension" relationship
