A “giant’s top hat, slightly cocked to one side” is the way some climbers describe Uncompahgre Peak. As fourteeners go, it is a relatively easy climb, but there is really only one way to ascend the mountain. The peak is surrounded on three sides by vertical cliffs of crumbly volcanic rock, but fortunately the south side consists of a sloping ridge that is easily climbed with a minimum of scrambling. Uncompahgre Peak was first climbed by members of the Hayden Survey in 1874. The mountain has long been recognized for its scenic beauty, and in the 1930s the area was included as one of the Forest Service’s original Primitive Areas.

decided to take a sick day today. woke up feeling pretty nauseous and then just wasn’t feeling attitudably appropriate to have 7 individual therapy sessions. so i called in. it was a good decision. i really honestly didn’t want to do shit. i was going to just sleep all day. but my dog wasn’t going to let me!
we decided to head out to cerro summit cerro summit has been one of our winter snowshoe staples so I was really unsure as to what the conditions were.
they were muddy! really muddy. we went along the open meadow trail and glade (my dog) was not really having it so we turned around. instead, we just ran along the road! it was super beautiful. great views. nice and dry despite two or three patches of snow (which glade absolutely loved). we didn’t really go too far on the road, probably about a mile and a half, and then we went back. it’s definitely somewhere i’d like to return and go farther. i may just want to check the legality of it though. there were no no trespassing signs except for the land on the left and right...i don’t know though, always good to be sure.

Energy cleansing is not a glamorous process. It is not good vibes, yoga and buddha bowls. It’s heavy, deep and can feel very ugly. Most people like to pretend healing is just magic and positive vibes. Healing is accepting + integrating painful experiences from the past. Honesty and transparency are important. Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel, and don’t hide it. Don’t be ashamed of it ever. Don’t feed into the new age movement. It does more harm than healing.
