Refaat Alareer, an academic and lecturer at the Islamic University of Gaza, was martyred along with his family in a targeted assassination carried out by the Israeli occupation on December 7th, 2023. We must continue to stand against this genocide.

I don’t owe you
Anything.
Nothing at all.
I don’t have anything else
To offer.
But you know that – don’t you?
Just look at your damn sweater
I have knit you everything I could
It now has holes and you trip on the
Threads.
Perhaps you would like to tangle
Yourself in those threads
They didn't let you down
You did.
You dig, dig, and dig.
DATE WITH FATE
To live, to see your face in the future
One day will all be worth it. I know you
Will bring me COUNTLESS smiles, so all the
Hard work now is worth it and brings me one
Step closer to you, to know one day I will
Get to hold your hand again makes
Everything worth it. Someday yeah, but fate
Will bring us together.
KNITTED2
Boy you are caught in the threads of your own
Thoughts.
You can’t break through, no.
You trip and stumble over these knitted paths,
They lead you somewhere dark- somewhere distant.
You’ve fallen down the rabbit hole with only the
String as rope to get you out.
You try to reach, but do you really?
Excuses excuses are all that’s ever heard.
Your ball of yarn is lost and you can’t even get out
Of bed.

Heart imagery by Andrea Zantelli
you know you really love someone,
when you don't hate them for breaking your heart
I know it’s not much in the face of everything but I have been finding hope & resilience in palestinian poetry these past few weeks and I created a google drive file of poetry collections by palestinian poets that I will keep updating as I keep on reading. I also recommend checking out @fiercynn’s palestinian poets series for more poets + poetry available online
Rare pity, mercy and compassion of the giants called humanity
. TREES
A bare witness,
A bare wilderness
Naked but not free
Been used from time and time again
Taken for granted
Tossed to the side when there’s nothing
Left Not even a thank you.
