the most disturbing trend in online leftism is outright hostility towards any kind of community building tools and forgiveness whatsoever.

Something I’ve been seeing lately is some ppl talking about bringing an algorithm to AO3 and all I can say is please, for the love of fucking god, do not. I like how AO3 doesn’t have an algorithm. I love the search function. You want something it’s easy to find. Equal opportunity for everyone to get their stuff out there.
I also think algorithms would ruin the culture there. AO3 is not social media, it’s an archive (like a library in a way) and should be kept as such.
The Perfect Explanation of Privilege – In One Powerful Punchline
“The Pencilsword” is a comic strip by Toby Morris, an illustrator from New Zealand. His most recent comic, “On a Plate” hits hard at the heart of the issues of concerning wealth and privilege.
How many times have you heard the “I’ve never been handed anything on a platter” argument in regard to social security and other social benefits?
Toby wrecks this argument by showing how two children can grow up, be loved and supported, and yet still have two very different outcomes.
Make sure to follow all the way to the end for the powerful punchline. This comic is an increasingly sad reality for far too many of this nation’s children and families.
I honestly feel like the proliferation of LED headlights was the canary in the coalmine for the general attitude we see in the political climate these days and i'm not even remotely kidding
Exclusionists have said "you're not part of our community" to basically every LGBT+ demographic except the fraction of gay people who agree with them, I think at this point they're just excluding themselves
Brainy Smurf but it's scenes from the fanfic I'm writing about him
★ Hey Francois ★
Welp "For the Future" absolulely wrecked me and I made this to cope. I just want to hug the collector right now because he's not bad, he's just lonely. I'd like to think that he talks to Francois when King goes to check on Eda. Oh my little heart. Bonus: Me watching For the Future:
My boyfriend caught a glimpse of The Collector and King scenes:
I think some of you forgot that autistic people sometimes act strange and say things that are poorly worded and speak with incorrect tone and misunderstand or miss social cues because they are autistic
Okokok
The Lego Ninjago movie, but instead of everyone immediately dropping their hatred of Lloyd when they find out he's the green ninja, they instead come to hate the green ninja, and accuse him and the others of teaming up with Garmadon to prolong his attempted takeovers and therefore increase overall destruction over time to make it even easier for him to conquer Ninjago in the long run
The whole 'people see a monster' speech likely completely ignored
And so Lloyd is back to square one, but now he hasn't got his beloved secret identity to hide behind anymore
I mean these people despised him for absolutely no reason other than his last name, to the point that a song about him being bad became a number one hit even though most people didn't even know him, and they always blame him for damages etc instead of the person actually doing the damage - Lord Garmadon himself
They completely overlooked the fact that they'd all be dead/imprisoned if Lloyd was actually evil and allied with his dad
It's not a stretch to believe that majority of Ninjago wouldn't give a damn if he was the green ninja, because it's still Lloyd Garmadon, who they've hated for 16 years, far more and far longer than they've loved the green ninja. I think it's reasonable to assume most of them wouldn't readily drop their hatred and bullying because of a speech. They wouldn't want to admit they've spent their whole lives believing something that's completely wrong, so they'd likely find ways to twist it, as many people do these days when faced with evidence that disproves their ideas
Idk if that makes sense, but like- I think it would be a rather interesting idea to explore (might be writing a fic about it at some point lmao)
if you've never engaged with a creative art on a regular basis you need to understand that it requires concerted effort to get into "the groove" to make something and every second that it takes to get into that groove causes physical pain, but the only thing worse than doing it is not doing it.
