Okay, time to delve into some Voltron history and have you guys listen to this 35+ year old song literally called “Beautiful Altea”. In Golion, I believe you only hear the instrumentals of this song as background music in certain episodes.

From what little I can translate from the lyrics:

Oh Altea, Oh Altea My home Its sky, Its rivers My beloved home Closing my eyes, I see it all again But when I open my eyes, it’s all gone I want to go back once again Lu… Beautiful Altea

This is essentially Fala’s (Allura) theme song, but this is not her VA singing it. The song is basically about her lamenting the loss of Altea as it was destroyed by the Galra. We don’t really appreciate Golion’s own fun music especially when it has some sad stuff like this.

kogane’s reaction to fala’s “death” is much more emotionally-charged than in keith’s in dotu. hearing his agonized scream as he runs out of the castle sent shivers down my spine. he was devastated.

from what i’ve seen thus far, golion more strongly emphasizes the bond between kogane and fala than dotu did between keith and allura. yet, in golion, it never became a romantic relationship.
