You gave me a gold coin that comes with a bonus dragon, and you think I’m going to spend it?  Are you insane?!  I’m going home to see how well it gets along with the cats.

The world’s tiniest dragon must defend his hoard, a single gold coin, from those who would steal it.

I don’t have many followers, but if any of you know someone in the Chicago area with kids who want to take them to a queer-safe Santa, please pass this along!

I don’t know whether someone had the most amazing timing or great skills with Photoshop, but this looks cool either way.

If you don’t think this makes a difference, look at what the Minnesota legislature accomplished so far this year:

Set up free breakfast and lunch for all K-12 students

Implemented automatic voter registration and a number of other reforms to increase voter access

Made abortion access and reproductive care a fundamental right

Provided up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave

Banned conversion therapy and made Minnesota a safe state for trans people

Indexed school funding to inflation

And much, much more

Our cities, our states, our country -- they can do this, too!  The Minnesota legislature isn’t filled with perfect people, but it has enough people who are willing to work together to get things accomplished.

Vote for people who will make progress.  If you don’t have that option, vote for people who won’t push us farther back!

We are not going to let that fuckwad DeSantis gain a foothold in the 2024 election.

You are going to fucking vote for Joe Biden, and you are going to give us a fucking chance to save our country from fascism, and you aren't going to fucking complain about it, because there is literally no other choice.

We will not let another election be a close call. Are you listening?

Vote for Biden. Vote for whatever Democrat is most popular in your local elections. Our system sucks, but this is what we're working with. Just fucking vote.

This sounds like a variation on Tom Smith’s Undead Happy Trees.

imagine Bob Ross painting in the style of Hieronymus Bosch

“this little demon down here is kind of lonely, let’s give him some happy little friends. little demon party.”

This is an excellent set of explanations of many of the dangers of making abortion illegal.  If you don’t believe that these things will happen, take a look at the laws currently on the books, being written and shoved through conservative legislatures, and being proposed now.

It’s lovely to say that “mainstream pro-lifers” don’t support certain things.  However, the fact is that the people who are writing and preparing to enforce the laws do.  Or at least, they support using the “pro-life” movement to build their power and tear down other people.

Another thing everyone needs to remember is that the medical term for a miscarriage is a spontaneous abortion, and they will try to criminalize that, too.

As many as half of all pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion. Oftentimes the pregnant person does not know they have been pregnant.

I have been pregnant 13 times that i know of, and have required a D&C for a couple of them so I didn’t go septic and die. (Celiac disease causes spontaneous abortion in many people, and we didn’t know i had it, only that I miscarried a lot). I have had one live birth. One. The other 12, they’d like to make crimes.

So. You know. Been thinking about that a lot today.

I think most of the people following me know me well enough to know that I’d be fine with questions, but I’ll reblog just in case.

I feel like a lot of people don’t want to ask questions they have about gender/sexuality to LGBT people because they don’t want to offend them because we talk about cishet people asking stupid or intrusive questions a lot

But actually when you’re questioning it’s really helpful to be able to ask some ‘stupid’ questions although you’re too afraid to

So can y'all LGBTQIA+ people reblog this if you’re totally fine with people asking questions about your gender/sexuality, as long as they do so respectfully

The one and only time I used a voting machine (I don’t remember what brand), it didn’t actually display the votes it registered so that I could confirm them.  I think the instructions said that you should be able to see your vote, but that area was blank.  Ever since then, I’ve stuck with the paper forms -- at least that way I know that there was a physical record of my vote at some point, and I can confirm that the right spots are marked before I submit the ballot.

Hey There US Friends! If You’re Voting Using These Machines (Hart ESlate) Or Similar Ones Right Now

Hey there US friends! If you’re voting using these machines (Hart eSlate) or similar ones right now or in the near future, make sure that the machine has NOT changed your ballot before casting it, ‘k? It’s apparently an already known problem, and has been for years, but has never been fixed.

Another librarian who would love to see more people doing this! We have displays of shiny new books and movies, as well as some on various topics to tempt you. However, you can also go into the stacks and search for forgotten treasures! You could find books about salt or pockets or seahorses or doorways to other worlds or forbidden romance.

You can also try that book or movie or music CD that everyone is recommending but you don't think you'll enjoy! If you don't like it, bring it back and check out something else guilt-free -- it didn't cost anything, and it won't keep taking up space on your shelves.

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.
