LMAO THE OTHER PERSPECTIVE
I think having to make refs for art fight is kinda overblown, people get all stressed about making fully rendered perfect refs in time but honestly just using one or two full-body pics of your character that youve already drawn will work just fine. if you need a new pic then do a quick sketch, put the basic color palettes under it, and that works too. I just dont want people to feel intimidated about doing artfight cus they feel they HAVE to make brand new perfect refs or get burnt out on drawing after they make a bunch of them
It's said that the people of Arca's cries of despair echoed to the heavens, begging to be freed from their pain, and yet no one came. Only a phoenix burning just as bright as the red sun soared through the glowing metropolis, cackling a feverish laugh as the flames spread.
No one survived, the magic that the grand city once revered for forgotten to time.
this from the guy who wrote the sting pain index, a scale he constructed after letting himself be stung by insects
tumblr is such a different animal than other social media platforms for so many reasons obviously but one thing i really find funny about it is how on other sites if i see something that doesn't interest me i don't follow or don't like the post. but on here if someone i follow starts posting exclusively about something really niche that i have no interest in my reaction is never to unfollow. its just part of the natural environment. like oh mutual is now really into pro wrestling? ok i guess ill be seeing these guys around now
best trope and you can fight me over it (i abuse this so hard with my ocs)
when you go to school for animation you will find that every third person in your classes will say âI want to be a character designer/storyboard artist!â and thereâs no problem with that! except that the vast majority of these people donât realize they donât actually want to be character designers or storyboard artists. What they WANT to do is draw pretty ocs and dnd characters over and over and not do anything like draw backgrounds or tell stories or make animate-able designs to meet the needs of the production theyâre on. And this is fine too! Iâm not even saying this to be shady. Iâm saying this because so many people donât even realize how many jobs there are out there that are adjacent to the animation/illustration industries that would be way more fulfilling for people that just want to draw pretty ocs over and over than character design/storyboarding. Sometimes the answer is being involved in a non-art animation role (like production management) and then drawing your friendsâ dnd characters on the weekends.
Frankly, my recommendation is just to make short films, and if ifâs too overwhelming or you canât even get enjoyment out of doing character design/storyboarding (or whatever part of the pipeline youâre interested in) on a personal project like that, then you were probably never going to be fulfilled doing it as a job

This collection was originally presented on July 10, 1997 in Paris and has been digitized as part of Vogue Runwayâs ongoing efforts to document historical fashion shows.
âThierry Mugler: Couturissimeâ landed in Brooklyn last month, the final stop of its world tour. Several of the looks on display were pulled from the designerâs fall 1997 Les Chimères (âMythical Creaturesâ) couture collection, which was presented soon after the company had been acquired by Clarins.
The show closed with a dress that has been described as one of the most expensive couture creations ever. Two years in the making, it required the assistance of both the artist Jean-Jacques Urcun and the corsetiere Mr. Pearl. It was presented on the runway by the model Adriana Karembeu, who wore cat-eye contact lenses that heightened the fantastical element of the piece. In retrospect, all of the women as machines, insects, and religious icons that Mugler had put on his catwalks laid the groundwork for this hybrid creature that seemed adapted to all elements: air, water, earth, and fire.
There was another beastie in the collection, a tiger-snake amalgam that took the form of a tattoo-like print. The rest of the collection was tamer and filled with characters that, at that point in Muglerâs career, had reached the level of caricature or cartoonâthough his craftsmanship and constructions remained the real deal.
The first exits, featuring hourglass suits, confirmed that Muglerâs lady remained a vamp. Next up were anatomical latex torsos and a single sci-fi ensemble. Later things took a turn toward the hairy (faux fur) and wild (animal prints). One model even donned antlers. Debra Shaw was cast as a draped Dracula, while Simonetta Gianfelici was a crystal-embellished princess bride. And this is far from an exhaustive list.
Mugler had celebrated his 20th anniversary in 1995 with the Le Cirque collection. Two years later his exercises in camp and construction had progressed in a freer, even more uninhibited direction closer to that of a carnival.
i know is a ton of words, but is really worth to read it!!
Muglerâs Fall 1997 Couture collection, Les Chimères, stands as an unparalleled fusion of fantasy and craftsmanship. Rooted in mythology and surrealism, it showcased women as creatures of transformationâpart beast, part divine. While some looks bordered on caricature, Mugler's meticulous construction and bold imagination cemented this collection as a landmark in couture history.
and for the closing....!!
Muglerâs Les Chimères is nothing short of an operatic masterpieceâexcessive, audacious, and unapologetically otherworldly. Itâs couture that doesnât just dress the body but transforms it into a vessel of fantasy, blurring the lines between art and fashion. Few collections have dared to embrace the absurd with such precision and brilliance, making this a true celebration of Muglerâs genius.
remember that this collection and many more are in the Vogue app!
