Lena is somehow sent back in time and finds herself on Krypton 30 years before the planet explodes. Kara doesn’t exist yet. Krypton has no idea what’s about to happen to them.
Lena realizes that with her knowledge of what’s to come and intellect to devise a solution, she can do two things. One, she can save an entire species from near extinction. Two, she can save Kara from ever having to experience the pain of losing her family, her home, and being abandoned. Kara could live a happy life and never know the burden of Supergirl or being the last daughter of Krypton.
So instead of trying to find a way back to Earth, back to her own time, she settles into life on Krypton, becomes fluent in Kryptonese, and sets about with a spectacularly single-minded focus of changing the future - to save this dying world (and Kara).
She succeeds…mostly. They can’t fix the damage that’s already been done to the planet. Their sun will die and destroy Krypton still, but with Lena’s help they’re able to locate a barren planet in another system that has a white star. It’s brand new, strong, and will live for untold trillions of years (provided Kryptonians didn’t try to harness its power again).
They terraform the planet and create “New Krypton” using the dome concept that Zor-El invented fused with Coluan bottling technology. All Kryptonians are instantly transported to their new home that’s identical to the old one save for one difference - the white sun grants them god-like powers that are beyond what Lena ever saw Kara and Clark capable of on Earth. Kryptonians are overwhelmed en masse by these powers. Some go power mad and attempt coups and form radical sects. Others realize the gift they’ve been given and, with Lena’s guidance, Kryptonian society develops under a new mission - to travel the galaxy and offer help to all those in need. Not just offering knowledge and technology this time, but themselves with their newfound powers.

Metropolis, on average, is likely to have much higher than average rent than Gotham. Reporters, non tv ones esp., don’t get paid that much these days with the gradual decline of print media. Probably lower than average for someone aiming to keep a low profile.
My point is, that rent in metropolis sucks ass and Clark just starting at the daily planet and running off to be superman all the time, is just. having an awful fucking time, because to be superman he can’t have roommates. He probably ends up doing some part time jobs with odd hours to keep his secret.
And most people also don’t know that superman HAS a secret identity in the early days and think he just. full time lives at the north pole.
So when the jla starts, no one KNOWS he has secret identity and Clark isn’t particularly keen on exposing it so he just. keeps coming up with bullshit ass excuses why he is randomly offline sometimes.
FLASH : Hey supes, why weren’t you at the meeting yesterday-
GREEN LANTERN : Got a hot date?
CLARK : I was, uh. Preparing for my hibernation.
AQUAMAN : Your fucking WHAT
MARTIAN MANHUNTER, FULLY AWARE THAT CLARK IS MAKING BULLSHIT UP : Many species do such things-
FLASH : Alien species??
WONDER WOMAN, ASLO AWARE THAT HE’S LYING : Flash, Kal is also an alien, no matter how similar to humans he may look.
WONDER WOMAN : Kal, If there is anything we can do to assist-
CLARK : No, No, No it’s, it’s fine, it’s not a big deal-
BATMAN, AWARE OF HIS SECRET IDENTITY : It IS a big deal, superman. If one of our strongest is to be out of commission for an extended period of time-
CLARK : Oh, I won’t- We, we do it in shifts.
WONDER WOMAN : Is that so, Kal?
CLARK : Yeah, h. haha.
Smash cut to a few years later-
KARA : YOU TOLD THEM WE DO WHAT
CLARK : I PANICKED OK?
Diana and Bruce never let him live this down btw.

actually @ every fanfiction writer whether you wrote something that got thousands of reblogs and comments and became a staple in your fandom, or you wrote one fic and deleted it, or you write mutilchaptered fics that never get a final update, or write short fics, or long fics, or used to write and now you don’t, or you deleted/orphaned your works, or you only share with friends:
thank you.
sharing your writing is hard. and sometimes it’s thankless. sometimes it’s such a negative experience that I wonder how anyone does it at all. but you are needed; you are wanted. whether or not we properly acknowledge it, you are a vital part of fandom culture. thanks for sharing.
I want slower packages delivered by transportation workers who are paid more to work less and I'm not kidding
Person: I want a story where witches do everyday magic, like spells woven into clothing and charmed earrings and spells made from knitting-
Me: *grabs their face* The Circle of Magic series. The thing you are describing is Tamora Pierce’s Circle of Magic series.
Me: There are four main characters, a white girl who has power to control and and bespell textiles, a black lesbian who can shape and enchant metal, a fat girl very easily interpreted as asexual who can control weather and cause natural disasters, and a possibly aromantic boy of color who can talk to plants. Their mentors include two queer women in a relationship and a black man. The entire series revolves around their friendship and supporting and drawing strength from each other.
Me: Along with this are very strong feminist themes, and not that exclusively white woman feminism, like real anti-racism, anti-classism, and sexual liberation stuff, along with storylines about honoring your culture while breaking away from what is traditionally accepted, anti-war sentiments and dealing with grief and PTSD.
Me: This is literally everything tumblr has ever asked for and it has existed for nearly TWENTY YEARS
Me: Please read it.
Shout out to fanfic writers that don’t get put on rec lists.
Shout out to fanfic writers who write short fanfics.
Shout out to fanfic writers who don’t write often.
Your fics are just as much a labor of love.

Self driving cars are created. Any day now!
Car-to-car communications are developed so that cars can negotiate manoeuvres on the road
Someone (let's face it: GM) adds a transaction system so that you can pay someone to get out of your lane if you're in a hurry
Navigation systems are used to implement a stock market trading convenience and speed in real time on the road
People realize that if you cause traffic you can be paid to get out of the way
Grifters form into roving packs that intentionally slow down traffic to extract tolls from cars
As a result, commuters group cars together and pool funds to purchase passage through swarms of grifters at a lower overall cost
Major corridors consisting of large packs moving together become the only viable way to navigate even moderately sized roads and all highways.
Size competition between grifter packs and commuter packs, commuters start scheduling coordinated travel between population centers so that a large enough pack can be formed to outcompete grifters
oops that's a train

i do think that one of the worst things “activist” spaces on the internet ever did was convince young marginalized people that individual people, complete strangers, were their oppressors. no, matt from chemistry class isn’t personally oppressing you because he’s a guy, that old lady at the bank isn’t personally oppressing you because she’s cis, your waiter isn’t personally oppressing you because they’re white. individuals can and do contribute to systems of oppression. but seeing random individuals you encounter in your daily life as your oppressors will do nothing but trick you into punching laterally or punching down because you think it’s “empowering.” you might get a momentary rush of endorphins from snapping at the male cashier bc #menaretrashuwu but all you’re doing is being shitty to a random guy making poverty wages.
i saw a tik tok the other day that like perfectly described this phenomenon, how gen z (and some young millennials too tbh) pushes for systemic justice and equality, but refuses to give that on an interpersonal level, and like. y’all. you simply cannot achieve systemic change if you’re not also working toward interpersonal change. you will do more for your own liberation by treating others with sensible patience and kindness than you will pushing this toxic individualist narrative of “i don’t owe anyone anything and i get to act however i want to people i view as my oppressor.” we need class solidarity now more than ever.
I slept in and just woke up, so here's what I've been able to figure out while sipping coffee:
Twitter has officially rebranded to X just a day or two after the move was announced.
The official branding is that a tweet is now called "an X", for which there are too many jokes to make.
The official account is still @twitter because someone else owns @X and they didn't reclaim the username first.
The logo is 𝕏 which is the Unicode character Unicode U+1D54F so the logo cannot be copyrighted and it is highly likely that it cannot be protected as a trademark.
Outside the visual logo, the trademark for the use of the name "X" in social media is held by Meta/Facebook, while the trademark for "X" in finance/commerce is owned by Microsoft.
The rebranding has been stopped in Japan as the term "X Japan" is trademarked by the band X JAPAN.
Elon had workers taking down the "Twitter" name from the side of the building. He did not have any permits to do this. The building owner called the cops who stopped the crew midway through so the sign just says "er".
He still plans to call his streaming and media hosting branch of the company as "Xvideo". Nobody tell him.
This man wants you to give him control over all of your financial information.
You know how we all joke that writers should stop writing kids in the Chosen One roles because they’re kids and have no experience, etc., and how older people would actually kick ass in that kind of role?
Try telling someone 30-60 years old that they need to put down all of their commitments because they need to save the universe. If it were a book trilogy, the first book would just be the messenger trying to convince the Chosen One that saving the universe is more important than them losing their job for not showing up, their pets home alone, or the risk that their insurance won’t cover whatever injuries they may sustain.
[Image ID: A screenshot of a quotetweet from Twitter. The first tweet is from @CultureCrave and reads, quote: "Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino says X will be 'powered by AI'". End quote. Two images show Linda Yaccarino, a brunette woman in pink, next to the new proposed Twitter logo of a simple white X on black background. Twitter user @AmandaWoody_ has replied saying, quote: "With a heavy heart I'm deciding that I will no longer be hosting #pitlight. The more people share their ideas and log lines, the more likely it is that someone will use it to feed the machines. Please be wary about how much you share on here, writer friends 💙". End quote. by the way, it’s real bold of hollywood to be like “the writers and actors have unrealistic expectations, but WE know what we’re doing” when they got tricked into releasing morbius in theaters a second time.
Not parasocial love nor parasocial hate but a secret third thing where I respect the celebrity for their talents and achievements while acknowledging that I do not have a personal relationship with them and that they are a human with flaws
now that sag-aftra has joined the strike, the increase in cold-ass takes has skyrocketed about “why should we support millionaires whining about not making money??”. like my man. my guy. the actors well-paid enough to have name recognition are striking to protect their colleagues. that very name recognition is what the average person is going to notice. they probably won’t care that ‘woman who plays every dead body in police procedurals’ is striking, but someone like emily blunt? that’ll get their attention. besides, would you rather they just… not support their colleagues? because at this point you’re basically saying you’d prefer if they scab than support their colleagues who can’t make a living wage despite both groups being talented professionals who deserve respect. name recognition is a powerful tool for sag-aftra and i hope they wield it with scalpel-like precision against the execs
I need everyone to know that the ship Götheborg, the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, answered a distress call the other day.
Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.
absolutely love this bit from harley quinn (2021) #31!
i honestly can't remember the last time we actually saw any signs in harley's behavior indicating that she's a domestic abuse survivor. but here, while it's nothing too dramatic, you can see how it manifests in her actions -- the way she's reluctant to admit she messed up, how she squares her shoulders as if bracing for impact, almost expecting ivy to lash out at her. but ivy, seeing the way she retreats into herself, doesn't push any further and instead changes the subject to something she can praise harley for, and make her feel more appreciated and at ease. and you can see harley's body language relax as she does. it's a small moment, but so meaningful and sweet!
