could they be more on the nose. this is the best band in the entire world

my chemical romance are the only ones who could’ve done this btw. they accidentally invented this whole “emo red and black bloody vampire” aesthetic because initially it was dangerous. they were constantly booed and called slurs and bottled, and they wanted to piss people off because it created a place of comfort for every person who didn’t quite fit in, they were able to see people just like them get onstage and yell fuck you to the world that rejected them. it was celebrated, bulletproof vests and eyeliner became the uniform for the army of misunderstood. and then the scene recognized that and used it to rip money from an already vulnerable fanbase. and then, years later after splitting up, mcr do an entire tour highlighting how much they’ve changed and how you must fix your heart and grow from the ruins, celebrating healing and allowing yourself to change and age, and then for a post credits scene they casually perform the biggest fuck you directly in front of every band and festival runner and executive who tried to shove them back into a place that almost killed them, that commodified off something they created for the people who felt out if place and misunderstood. while simultaneously sharing and inside joke with all of us who were victims of that commodification so we can all laugh together. no one will ever do it like them.
