I made this previous post about my version of Warrior!Penelope and the main universe Odysseus meeting and her telling him about how Dionysius temporarily cursed her with madness and hallucinations to make her kill her crew after massacring the Lotus Eaters for getting their men killed by the cyclops and while I do mean for that to be a serious, deep moment....I can't help thinking of this.

Warrior!Penelope: I killed over 500 men with my own two hands.

Main!Odysseus:.....*He blushes* Damn...

I absolutely love the warrior Penelope au because it’s so fun and I love a strong, independent woman. But also just because I think the interaction between her and Circe would be fucking hilarious.

Like imagine this, Circe thinks that Penelope and her crew are actually men–maybe some of the crew are idk–so she like curses them. So, Penelope goes to talk to her (and maybe Hermes still pops up and gives her a hint), helmet on and all so Circe can’t see that this is clearly a hot gal like herself, and I just imagine the interaction going like this:

Circe: No man will ever leave my island alive.

Penelope: (just full LOTR moment, pulling off her helmet letting her hair flow) I am no man.

Circe: …

Penelope: …

Circe: …GIRLLLL why didn’t you say so?? My bad, gorgeous, I really thought you were a dude. Were the rest of your crew women too? I mean, slay queen, that’s crazy, good for y’all. Lemme just go release them real quick, you need anything before you go? We can whip up like a not magically enchanted dinner for you and get you some rations. Actually, you want to stay for a few day? Recover?

Penelope: (fully expecting to fight to the death) I, uh, need to get back to my husband in Ithaca, but thank you. You don’t happen to know how to get past Poseidon do you? I might’ve pissed him off.

Circe: Poseidon, eh? Girl, I’m sorry, he’s such a little bitch sometimes. Well, I can’t get you home but I do know this prophet that might be able to help. He be dead though, but I can get you to the underworld easy peasy.

Penelope: Girl, tell me about it, he’s such a bitch.

(And then they go on to spill all the tea about their adventures while Circe makes sure they have plenty of supplies and stuff. Girl power, y’know? Obsessed.)

Ares: …….

Penelope: *her head buried in her hands.* Ares: so you like this guy?

Penelope: *Head still buried.* YESSSS!

Ares: and he likes you back?

Penelope: *Looks up at Ares.* yea. Are you rubbing in the fact you have a better love life than me?

Ares: no I’m trying to understand this. So you both like each other, and you decided to throw spears at him with notes attached that you thought were flirtatious but he took as just threats on your life? And what made you think throwing a spear at him with a note saying “one day you’ll be mine!” would be a good idea?

Penelope: your wife! She told me to be myself! So I was! And look how that worked out! I think someone should do her job for her!

Ares: first of all dont talk bad about my wife. Second of all, why not talk to him? That’s how me and Aphrodite got together(not to brag or anything).

Penelope: talk to him? But what if-

Ares: What if there are no more “what if”s?

Penelope: *sighs heavily.* as always old friend you are right. I must go and speak with the infamous: Odysseus.

Saw some Epic warrior!Penelope aus where our favorite girl ends up at war in Odys place and had to throw my own au in there

When the ships of Ithaca are called to war, Odysseus by some horrible coincidence (or perhaps something more?) falls terribly sick. Physicians are certain he’ll pull through, he’s young, he’s healthy, he’s blessed by gods, they say, he has a newborn son to raise, and kingdom to protect, he has so much to live for. They say he will be better, but they cannot say when.

It has been weeks, and Agamemnon demands his presence. They don’t want to leave without the clever, Athena blessed king of Ithaca.

Penelope, still weak from childbirth, grieving for a husband she hasn’t yet lost, dresses in her loves clothes and sails off to war with 600 men. Eurylochus and Polites, Odysseus’s best friend and brother in law, are the only ones to notice.

Penelope had long trained with Odysseus, he believed she needed to be able to fight as well as he could, if not better, to assure she was safe. “I’ll always protect you” he always said “but if that terrible time comes that I am unable, I need you to be able to protect yourself as I would.” She had laughed and said she would kill any who dare attack her or her love.

Now she put those skills to use, ten years of war, pretending to be Odysseus.

Of course, her own crew realized soon enough. Her disguise did not hold up in such close quarters. With the support of her closest allies, they eventually (though some reluctantly) turned to her aid. Ensuring that, for all the years they fought Troy, she was never found out.

Athena guided her hand, she would joke to her crew after every battle she won, but the owl at the edge of her vision was no illusion.

Now, after her Trojan Horse succeeded, she sails towards home, dreading what she will find despite her joy at the idea of seeing her love again

Back in Ithaca, Penelope has no need to worry for her husbands loyalty.

Raising his son in a kingdom missing all its best soldiers, oddyseus worries constantly for his wife. Every day, hundreds of men and women invade his castle, and he cannot get them to leave. The last dregs of illness still haunt his body, and he cannot fight them all.

They ask him to marry them, to marry their daughters (most of which are far, far too young. Many no older than Telemachus)

He wants only to sail off, build a ship of whatever materials they have left and run away with his son to find his mother. He cannot, his kingdom still needs a ruler.

He misses Penelope, Polites, Eurylochus, Elopenor, Perimedes. Even Athena seems to have disappeared.

Random thoughts that keep CC up at night no. 230394: Warrior!Penelope edition

So I haven't seen a lot for Odysseus in this AU (which, fair, it isn't about him) but I had a few thoughts

- of course after a while, suitors for Odysseus start showing up, but ofc it's women instead of men

- because of this, the castle isn't as trashed as it is in the original Odyssey, but a lot of the Ithica family's money and food is being used up by the suitors

- instead of intimidation like the male suitors use on Penelope, the suitors for Odysseus try to seduce him

- a lot of the women are seen with provocative clothing and lots of jewelry to make them look expensive

- all of them fawning to get Ody's attention meanwhile all he's thinking is "I miss my wife D,: "

- idk names for Antonius' counterpart, but she would be just as aggressive

- maybe as Telemachus starts getting older, a few start going after him as well

- instead of Odysseus making a funeral shroud for Penelope's father, he gets his childhood nurse, Eurycleia to make it (who does indeed unthread it every night like Penelope)

- for the challenge that Odysseus sets up, it's a challenge of skill like the one Penelope does, but a different kind

- the challenge? Outsmart him.

- which may seem simple at a glance compared to the challenge Penelope sets up, but this is Odysseus we're talking about, chosen by Athena for his smarts

- even if in this AU he isn't chosen by a god (which, idk if that's true) he's still sly as hell, and the only person to ever outwit him is his own wife

- the suitors get frustrated that no matter what they say, what angle they got at, they just can't outwit him

- the suitors plans near the end are a lot different, planning to have Telemachus' ship wrecked somewhere with the help of a few well placed bribes, and getting Odysseus drunk and one of them seducing him (I don't know about Greek times, but I do know in older times if a man were to get a woman pregnant, he had to marry her, so that's what I'm going off of)

- but ofc Penelope is here before they can even begin to bribe the crew on Telemachus' ship, and she kills them all :]

- Would you Fall in Love with Me is the same but Odysseus is more pathetic and saying how he's always been hers, and that's never changed no matter what she's done

warrior penelope au but it's malewife odysseus YEARNING for his wife for 20 goddamn years... i draw him way too much in penny's own au but I LOVE HIM SO MUCH-

i have a link to the fic that i was inspired by : https://archiveofourown.org/series/4380808

long story short, odysseus got sent early off in war because of a mistake he and his crew made (letting their guards down) got to be with penelope for a bit, until she and other women had to be sent to war AGAIN, replacing ody and the men who were injured.. isn't that just fun? Odysseus got shot in the shoulder, hence why he has a scar.

Ctimene: I’m cold.

Eurylochus: Here, take my coat.

Penelope: I’m cold too.

Odysseus: What? [taking off coat] I told you to bring more layers but of course you didn't listen and now- [piling scarves on her] now look, I've got to make sure you don't FREEZE to death and- [taking somebody else's hat] how long have you been cold? You should've said something sooner.

Odysseus of Troy AU

Inspired by the Warrior!Penelope AU, @maggie44paint's Malewife Menelaus AU & @theblindgoddess + DaughterOfDungeonBat's Penelope of Troy AU.

So instead of Helen, Paris chooses Odysseus, thinking he's the safer option because he's just the king of small, barren Ithaca & super smart. Baby Telemachus is also spirited away as extra leverage.

Paris thinks he's being cunning, hoping this choice can somewhat ease Athena's wrath as well.

At first, Athena is furious....but then she gives the go-ahead for 3 reasons.

Odysseus will give Paris hell.

Hera will give Paris hell.

This one is important: Penelope will give Paris hell.

Paris tells himself he's doing Penelope a favour! Now she can find another, more powerful husband & have another kid with him. Plus, she's a woman with a tiny kingdom, it's not like she'll come knocking on Troy's walls.

Newsflash: a furious Penelope comes pounding on Troy's walls with a vengeance.

(Bonus if she isn't even being backed by Ares here. Oh no, all that unstoppable rage is 100% pure Penelope.)

In Olympus, Hera & Athena are cackling and high-fiving over a bucket of popcorn. In Troy, Ody is going full Mission Impossible, being a monster (rawr rawr rawr) to Paris, mapping out servant passages, calculating how much cloth it'll take to make a long enough rope & hoarding tiny paper scraps and crumbs for bird feeding.

He goes all: Yes, I need more clothes. It's not my fault my clothes keep ripping. *wink wink*. Oh, I'm not supposed to be here? Silly me, I'm hopeless without Athena's wisdom now! Look at the cute birdie, little wolf! *slips a message onto them while his son's buried under feathers*

Athena is very proud of her master liar.

Bonus:

Hector & Ody ironically become good friends because they're both dads and loving husbands. Hector tells himself he will NOT get attached to the man who's singlehandedly screwed him, his family & Troy over......only to pat the guy's back as he sobs for the nth time over missing his wife. It's hard not to empathize with him & feel a little sorry for the kid who doesn't even remember his mom.

And maybe when Hector senses that the end is coming, he & Andromache ask Ody to take Astyanax with him. He won't have a future in Troy, but it's better than no future, period.

Thus, Penelope returns to Ithaca with her family one member bigger than before.

Now I'm high on caffeine so random thoughts hits me again. love in paradise Athena dives into Odysseus memories if I remember it correctly? Eh seems like so, and see all the sht he went through. If Athena flew and dive around so gracefully like an owl , I like to think that in Are's case the part of "let's see where you been" It would be him jump down and punching through Penelope's memory with it shattered like in glass shades and each ones he went through he just keep on punching until he landed right on the last remains of the boat trying to look for Penelope. "Where the heck r u girl" Loll sry me drunk.

Calypso, gesturing to herself and the rest of the suitors: Now, which of us will be the object of your attraction?

Odysseus, very obviously uninterested in any of them: Hm, wow, what great options. This is going to be so hard.

[Penelope walks in, hair disheveled and clothes ripped up. She is also covered in blood]

Penelope: Oh, sisters. I’m back from war.

Odysseus, with hearts in his eyes as he shoves every single woman out of the way: Hello, sailor!

*meanwhile, in the Underworld* Polites: Eurylochus, back so soon? And...there's the rest of your crew. And by the gods, what happened to you? Eurylochus, who is sick of thematically-significant reprises: >:(

So far, I think we Epic fans have mutually agreed on 3 things:

1) Penelope is taller than Odysseus

2) Polites was holding the infant when he appeared in the Underworld saga

3) Odysseus tucked his hair behind his ear when he sang “Penelope why, you know I’m too shy”

Odysseus: Next to my wife.

Poseidon: And do you think she'll be proud of you torturing a god?!

I think the thing that makes me go feral in God Games is the fact that Athena matches the melody of every god she tries to persuade, except for Ares.

Ares, the only god Athena can never see eye to eye with, the brother she is by nature eternally pitted against, the guy she just fucking hates. She whips her own theme out to rebuke him and it is glorious
