Joe is the most generic male name you could have. It shows how replaceable he is. How he is just a body for your average worker. Your average Joe. If he died all he'd be is john doe. He is just a man going through the motions without an identity. Even with the most basic name in the world, he is still only the body and parts of joe. He is not a person.
