Janna preserve me, Caitlyn thought in frustration. She shut the door shut just hard enough to startle the man awake, who shot up like a gun, a piece of paper he had drooled on sticking to his face. “I don’t have your money,” he said quickly and sleep slurred. “Captain Reese, I’m Officer Caitlyn Kiramman. I was sent over here from North Piltover Station for reassignment,” Caitlyn stated. The man blinked his dull, watery blue eyes several times at her, as if he wasn’t sure if she was real or not. “You’re who from where?” he asked as he pulled the paper off of him.
Low Lays the Devil in Me - Chapter 15 - caitlynkirammansrifle - Arcane: League of Legends (Cartoon 2021) [Archive of Our Own]
Caitlyn receives her reassignment from Marcus and begins her work for the Chembarons.
“You’re staring,” Caitlyn muttered quietly to Vi as the adults examined Jayce’s chalkboard of runes. He was walking them through how he wanted to use them to try to communicate to the Arcane tether. Vi smirked. “And? You’re hot, princess.” Caitlyn blushed and bit back a smile as she ducked her head. Vi swore she could practically feel Caitlyn’s heart skip inside her own chest. She sighed contentedly, resting her cheek on her hand to continue her examination of Caitlyn’s profile, which was much more interesting than the magic mumbo jumbo being discussed.
Tethered - Chapter 7 - caitlynkirammansrifle - Arcane: League of Legends (Cartoon 2021) [Archive of Our Own]
The tether evolves again and Vi learns a harsh lesson about communication.
This is the final chapter of the CaitVi series "I Will Give You My Rebel Heart."
Low Lays the Devil in Me - Chapter 23 - caitlynkirammansrifle, just-a-pleb-les (caitlynkirammansrifle) - Arcane: League of Legends (Cartoon 2021) [Archive of Our Own]
See below for a little sappy message on wrapping up this epic, massive series.
I'm copying and pasting this from the end note section of this final chapter:
Okay, so let me be a bit of a sap for a moment.
I never, ever, ever in my wildest dreams thought I could ever actually complete a fic (or any piece of writing) of this length, let alone 2 in a series that make up 350,000 words! According to Google, the average word count for a book is 70-100,000. So, since I started this fic in December of 2024, I have spent the last six months almost to the day writing over 3 novels' worth of words. Now, working in an established world with established characters (a lot of which I also used from official LoL lore) definitely helped with world-building and character creation. However, that is still a wild feat to accomplish, and I’m not so humble as to not be proud of myself for writing two semi-coherent stories with 350,000 words and making them up, for the most part, as I went.
That all being said, I’m not 100% sure if I would have done this at the pace that I had with the excitement that I had if it weren’t for how amazing and kind you all have been. The fact that there about 1200 comments (that’s halved from what the actual number shows because I’ve replied to almost every single one, so I’m not counting mine) and I’ve only had 2 hate comments that I’ve had to delete is absolutely wild given that this is the internet and that CaitVi can be a bit of a controversial pairing in the fandom. What I’m trying to say is thank you to every single person who has read this, left a comment, left a kudos, subbed to the fic/my ao3 account, bookmarked, followed me on social media, been inspired by this story to write a fic/create a piece of art, and everything in between. This has been one of the most creatively fulfilling things I’ve ever done, and I appreciate every person who was kind enough to give it a chance and more.
This story is not perfect, I’m sure there are more than a few plot holes or underdeveloped parts and other issues that come with fanfic writing without an editor and problems that come with making it all up as you go along, but I don’t care. This story and this version of these characters mean so much to me (looking at you, my queen Cassandra Kiramman), and this will forever have a special place in my heart. Thank you to everyone who has joined me on this wild ride. It has meant the world to me ❤️💙
After being orphaned and left to fend for themselves, Vi and her sister, Powder, stowed away on a ship to leave the oppressive laws of Piltover for the freedom of the high seas. Years later, Captain Vi “Stone Fist” has her own ship, crew, a port to call home, and a reputation as one of the most feared pirates on the ocean—a reputation that has earned her the ire of Commander Caitlyn Kiramman. Caitlyn seeks to end this so-called Golden Age of Piracy and bring peace to the waters near her home. Caitlyn’s goal is forcibly deferred when her and Vi’s bitter rivalry must give way to a reluctant partnership as the crews of ships throughout the seas are mysteriously vanishing, leaving empty vessels floating eerily in the ocean. The Council of Piltover and the pirate haven of Bilgewater have called a truce to join forces to uncover what is causing the disappearances and put an end to it once and for all. Vi and Caitlyn are ordered by their respective leaders to work together to end this dark plague before it spreads to every corner of the globe. Can the two set aside their differences to save their homes and their people? Or will their rivalry lead to the end of life on Runeterra as they know it?
The Harrowing - Chapter 1 - caitlynkirammansrifle - Arcane: League of Legends (Cartoon 2021) [Archive of Our Own]
The prologue and first chapter are out. 8,000 words of our brand new adventure, and I do mean brand new! This will be very different than the other fics I've written for CaitVi. Hope you enjoy!
Caitlyn laughed again and shook her head at Vi, who could only grin at the happiness that radiated off the other girl. Vi suddenly wished she could freeze time in that very moment of Caitlyn laughing in Vi’s childhood bedroom before everything would change and there was no going back. She raised her hand and pushed Caitlyn’s hair behind her ear, then cupped her cheek. Caitlyn sighed and gripped her fingers, pulling Vi closer as she kissed her palm so tenderly it made the back of Vi’s eyes burn. “I could never have done this without you, Cupcake,” Vi whispered. Caitlyn shook her head. “You are so strong, Violet,” she replied and brought a hand up to Vi’s chest, laying it over her heart. “And you love so fiercely. You are the daughter of revolutionaries. You never would have taken everything my people did lying down. At one point, sooner or later, you would have acted. You love your people too much.” “No. No more of this my people and your people,” Vi said, and the intensity of her tone made blue eyes widen in surprise. “Our people. You and I have bled and lied and killed and sacrificed for this moment. Soon, this will be over, and we can begin building a future that all our people deserve. We can be the ones who show them what they are capable of when we work together. We will show them, Cait. We will show them all.”

The alliance begins its assault on Stillwater while Vander and Cassandra confront Bolbok.
Gods this fic really is everything. The fanart to come from it is so fucking beautiful, too!

- Copy, my love.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who has read Heart of Glass, My Mind of Stone, if you've left a comment, kudos, bookmark, or even followed me on here, left an ask, made that amazing fan art!! Thank you so much!
It's been exactly one month since I first posted it, not realizing where the story was going, and it's been an extremely fulfilling creative experience. The fact that it's miles above my most well received story, especially given that I haven't written in years, is the cherry on top.
As a treat, I'll announce here and maybe soon in the notes area of the fic, but Heart Made of Glass is getting a sequel! I already know the general plot and the opening scene.
There's still a good bit left of story for Heart Made of Glass, but we're definitely in the later half of it.
Thank you again. Now to get back to writing the next chapter :D
Caitlyn Kiramman (Cassandra would definitely have liked it) ghost twitter account from Heart Made of Glass fic 😂
Does anyone have any writing confessions regarding your writing flaws that you are fully aware of, but have no desire or care to ever really address?
Mine is that I genuinely think I am awful at naming chapters and I just could not care any less.
Three thoughts: Firstly - really liked your fic, was the first one I got invested enough in to put more than a single comment on Ao3 (and this ask too yay). Secondly: as to alternate perspective ideas, chapter 27 between Vi blacking out and waking up in the Piltover hospital. How did that meeting between Vander and Cassandra go? Thirdly: as to the council/founding lore - why can't both Heimerdinger and House Kiramman be the founders of Piltover? My headcanon is that there were multiple founding families of Piltover, and that's the origins of the council. Heimerdinger gets to be "the founder" because he's the only individual still around, but the Kirammans (and maybe also the Ferroses and the Hoskels, but not the Medardas) were definitely part of founding Piltover too. I'm also now wondering if the hypothetical divide of "founding councillor / elevated later" fits onto the fic's status quo / revolutionary council divide neatly. Did Cassandra first try to persuade the councillors whose houses were elevated to the council after Piltover's founding?
Glad you liked it!! <3 <3 I appreciate all the comments you've left! All of you make my day when I see them :D
As for the story parts:
I could definitely add that perspective, but I believe I can post that little one shot today, so we'll see how it goes. That's a good request!
Here's my headcanon (of my own lore lol):
The main reason is that I wanted Cassandra to have a sense of responsibility to to the city. In the chapter from her point of view, she tells the old sheriff before Grayson: “Sheriff, my ancestors shaped the very cobblestones that laid the foundations of this city,” she stated in a tone that brooked no argument. “If I wish to traverse a single one of them, then I shall, no matter how unsensible it may seem to you. Am I understood?” TL;DR: I like the gravity of the Kiramman's being the original founders.
Now, how the elevating of councilors works:
The whole city was once Zaun, the last bastion of the Valoran Empire, which I imagine that the Valoran empire set up the council there to run the city while they expanded their empire. So when the empire fell, Zaun was just left with the council and went on business as usual. Their main areas of government, law enforcement, etc., were located where the present day Zaun is now. It just kind of existed like any other city in the world until one day, the trade merchant family, the Hoskels, proposed the creation of the Sun Gates, which is a massive canal. They created the River Pilt and built up the artificing, trade, and science centers for the Sun Gates on the northside of the river that would become Piltover.
Once Hoskel's family set off the bombs that led the the creation of the fissures and sunk half of the south side of Zaun into them, those on that council were destroyed along with it. So a new one had to be formed and, due to the destruction of the south side, the new one was built on the north side. Because the surviving governing families (think of them like distant relations of the original council in Zaun who worked on the Sun Gates) were related to the original councilors, nothing actually changed in terms of what family ruled, but now you have a bunch of people who never would have been in powerful positions or receiving a lot of wealth suddenly getting it, fueling the greed that led to them not providing aid to the destroyed part of the city. Not a great foundation for government immediately following a devastating disaster. Now, families come and go, some die out, some leave, some are exiled, etc. So some families have changed, such as Shoola's being 600 years on the council as opposed to Cassandra's being on it for 800 years.
I will say, part of my clean up throughout this fic will be fixing up the lore a bit. Making it up as you go along, especially for a fic as long as this one, will lead to discrepancies. I'll do what I can, but for the most part, the important parts are what I want them to be and will be unchanged: the Kirammans are the ones who built Zaun/Piltover and are the oldest family on the council, the Hoskels accidentally sent half of the city into the fissures--which would turn into the Undercity--and ever since The Sinking, no one from what was the south side of Zaun has served on the council.
Lastly, because its been so long that these family's have been on the council, there isn't much weight between who was elevated and who wasn't, except perhaps Cassandra's and that was mainly due to the fact that she had the most money because of how old her family is (that's changed, however, because Mel is now the richest person in Piltover). The reason Heimerdinger is the leader of the council now is because he is the longest serving councilor and his wisdom, despite its inconsistency at times, still does serve them well in other matters.
Okay, so I've never done this before, and I'm not promising anything, but here goes. I will take a CaitVi writing prompt for a one-shot fic to do as a palate cleanser once "Low Lays the Devil in Me" is done. I've always wanted to try a writing prompt and now is as good a time as any (if anyone manages to inspire me with a prompt, that is). Please leave them either in the replies of this post or as an anonymous ask if you'd like.
Rules:
Must be a non-canonical setting, preferably modern day, as I have spent a lot, a lot of time in Piltover/Zaun/Runeterra and will do so again in the Pirate AU that's next and in "Tethered."
Not completely ruling out smut, but it can't be the sole focus. I'm a character-driven writer first and foremost, and want to keep it that way, please.
Please keep the prompt to three sentences, max 350 words.
Must be one-shot worthy, and I'll probably not make it more than 15,000 words, so nothing that would require a complex, multichapter storyline.
I am doing this as a writing exercise, not an obligation to the people who suggest any prompts. Fanfic writing is for fun, and I want a little short break between "Devil" and the Pirate AU, which is my next long-form fic.
I will NOT do any requests for anti-ship/anti-character fics.
Thanks everyone! We'll see how this goes and if anything grabs me. Please don't be hurt if I don't choose yours. This is just a little exercise for me, and you never know, maybe I'd do one later if you suggest one now.
