It wasn't just one lone incident that made Shamura and the other bishops act, it was a long list of isolated incidents over time that just piled up to the point they couldn't be ignored anymore. Especially when Narinder ended up changing how his followers worshiped him entirely and what he offered them in return. That's when Shamura confronted him before making any decisions on how to deal with him.

...Only after they failed to talk him out of continuing down the path he was going did Shamura decided something needed to be done.

YEEEUP. Yeah. With supervision, though. Catnip had been used already by Chirin's other cat followers for a long time before he was indoctrinated. So when Chirin finally managed to get close to him they were able to offer it to him. He likes it (: Helps with his joints. Makes him calm down too. lmao.

Knuckles was always there to protect them

I think my favourite is this scene where he didn't want to fight Sonic even though Sonic wanted to. We know that Knuckles could've easily hurt Sonic but he didn't want to hurt his bro.
