best storylines are the ones where the wildest most off-the-wall shit occurs, one thing after another, unrelenting, and then at the end you realize it’s been happening over the course of like.. just a week. everyone’s been having a HELL of a week in that universe. that shit was happening on a thursday. of all days.
LOVE character regression. love when characters get hurt and revert to their old ways as a way to deflect, cope, and recuperate. love when they get scared to make a difficult decision. love when it takes time and effort. it's going to be worth so much more when they get better.
brain: we’re gonna write a scene while sleeping :)
me: we’re going to remember it in the morning, right?
brain: :)
me: right?
It’s rather offensive that my ideas don’t just write and edit themselves into a perfect novel that just appears on my desk for me to read
the second you say ''i'll just give my character a random name and change it later'' you're already doomed. placeholder names are no joke. you will be taken hostage
My favorite ship dynamic is "they're both extremely stupid in completely different ways and extremely smart in completely different ways, but rarely is any of that useful because they just get extra double stupid when together"
if writing your novel doesn’t feel like herding cats, your characters aren’t developed enough
