tbh kinda a serious post

I feel like the therian community is kinda losing what therianthropy means. Esp the newer people. I’ve seen therians that wear gear be rude to therians that don’t. It was because they saw them as invalid.

Please don’t lose sight of what therianthropy actually is. And just because someone isn’t wearing gear doesn’t mean that they “aren’t a real therian” they just express themselves differently.

Been meaning to say this for a while, but here's a not so gentle reminder that you don't have to be skinny, white and able bodied to be part of the nonhuman community.

Racism and ableism is sadly rampant in this community and I want this blog to be safe for the beings that feel excluded! If you want to, you can interact with this post if you are or your blog is safe for: fat, POC and disabled nonhumans. I wanna show some support, even if it's just a follow or a reblog here and there.

More people need to understand that gender and sexuality can be phases, and that's completely fine, normal even, and doesn't invalidate any part of those phases.

"You'll find the right person eventually" this, and "you're just a late bloomer" that. Yeah, maybe. So what? If I find the right person, that doesn't mean I'm not ace, it's a spectrum for a reason. If I do turn out to be a late bloomer, that doesn't mean I'm not ace now.

And what's the worst that'll happen anyway? You'll gain empathy for and knowledge of the group you were part of? Oh, no, the horror

earlier today, my friend made a "joke" about how as a parent he would be accepting of his kid no matter what, "unless they're a furry or think they're an animal. back to the animal shelter they go"

i called him out on this and said "i think if your love is conditional you shouldn't be a parent" and i stand by that.

he tried playing it off as a joke (as he does whenever i call him out on something) but let me tell you: jokes are meant to be funny, not harmful. i doubt anyone who doesn't support therians/furries will ever see this post, but if by some miracle it does happen, please remember that your "jokes" can and do harm real life people.
