He can knit.

Van Augur can wield a sewingneedle but his skills are only average if you push it. Just enough to mend anyrips and holes in his own clothes.

(He owns an old apron and a pairof frayed gloves that he made a long time ago but somehow couldn’t bear to throwthem out.)

Despite that, he will gladly fixhis partner’s clothing if they ever asked (not that he had already sneakilyfixed them all before they even noticed).

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? Augur ishorrifying good at picking apart things. He can reduce a shirt into merethreads and scraps under minutes.

Once, at the request of hispartner, he did just that with Laffitte’s pants without breaking eye contactthrough the whole thing. Laffitte isn’t sure how he should feel. Blackbeard issecretly terrified. 

No one has messed with his partner’s possessions eversince.

Coby (my sweet, sweet child)

LOVES BRAIDING HAIR AND ISEXTREMELY GOOD AT IT. He finds them soothing and it helps him to relax andthink.

He actually only has two bandanasat first. And then Helmeppo gave him another. Then Tashigi, and then Garp, andit somehow spiraled into a trend where everyone just gifts Coby the same thingon occasions. The patterns he receives progressively becomes more and morecolorful and weird over time (someone please help the boy he’s drowning infabrics)

His favorite patterns are the oneswhich his friends – and Garp, shhhh – gave him, followed by all the flowerpatterns. AND OF COURSE, his personal lucky charm which was the one given to him by hispartner and he just loves it so much.

You know how to make Coby blushthe hardest? Pull his bandana down his eyes and peck him on the lips. Just doit. He’ll go through so, so many shades of red and oh god it’s adorable.

VanAugur with two children:

Augur raises his children to beserious, determined, business types. If they even THINK of rebelling,he’ll send them one look and suddenly they’re applying to MarineHarvard with honors. His children would grow up to be scholars, orsharpshooters like him.

Children are a mystery to him. Hedoesn’t know how they ‘work’ so to speak. So it creates a littleawkward tension with them.

He wants them to be entertained,but with his line of work he ends up picking out books and scatteringoff. The books are usually thick college textbooks. He seriouslydoesn’t understand kids. Help him.

Augur does put them to bed,making sure they brush their teeth, take any medications, and are alltucked in. He’ll ruffle their hair and stay with them until they fallasleep.

He takes them everywhere he goesthough, he REFUSES to get a babysitter in a fear they might want tohurt his children.

He is very light-hearted with hischildren though. Especially if they’re toddlers, he’ll let themdangle on his cape, or try his dorky hat on. He’s a good father.

The other members of the BB pirates tease him about it, butthen they remember how dangerous he is lol

Laffitte with two children:

Lord, these children are not going to grow up 'normal.’ They’ll bethe kind of children that laugh at blood, and think that murder istotally acceptable… as long as you don’t get caught. (Seriously,imagine two sweet little cherub faced kids with knives, chasing downmarines while laughing. That’s Laffitte’s children.) They grow up tobe future serial killers like their old man, or bounty-hunters.

Laffitte does his best to understand his children. He always makes ita point to enrich himself in whatever they like. Taking them to,let’s say, a ballet if they’re interested in dancing, or buying thema chemistry set if they like that sort of thing.

He also refuses to get a babysitter, mostly because babysitters areterrified of him AND his children. (He did get a babysitter once, andshe was found stuffed in a toybox five months later. He scolded thembecause “Those toys are ruined! Is this how you treat your toys?”)

Laffitte often kisses them goodnight, but doesn’t tuck them in, orhum them to sleep. He’s got stuff he needs to do once they’re out.

Laffitte dances with them, all the time. Just swinging them around asthey giggle happily. Such a happy family

Avalo is terrified of his children because they tried to cuthis tail once. Laffitte just laughed and patted their heads.
