About to dox myself a little. Please be gentle.
My country, Pakistan, is drowning. A third of Pakistan is at risk of being deluged by massive floods. 1000+ people have been killed, countless others displaced. We have the highest number of glaciers outside the poles, and because of climate change, they’re melting. The knock-on effect is unspeakable—and yet we must speak of it. Tragedy upon tragedy, especially against our poor and most marginalized, and it feels ceaseless.
Pakistan is just one of many countries who will be—who are being—disproportionately affected by climate change. We need international solidarity and we need radical change. Climate change is here, it is happening, it has been happening. The developed world owes developing countries on a moral level; corporations have bloody hands; the neoliberal economic order has stricken us with debts that are choking us; and through it all, we must—cruelly—battle for air against so many other people and causes who deserve equal attention, equal outrage, equal concern. That is not the world we deserve. That is not the world that will save us from climate change. We need to reimagine what a just world will look like. We need to build global, truly global, solidarity. And in the meantime, we need reparations.

I’ve seen a lot of incredibly negative posts of people speaking about “what kind of person” Carlos Sainz Jr is.
So let me tell you about the kind of person I think he is.
Carlos is the kind of person who, instead of celebrating his own podium after Abu Dhabi, was running around the paddock behind Lewis Hamilton desperately trying to make sure he was okay.
Carlos is the kind of person who took a 19-year-old Lando Norris under his wing and showed him the ropes. Showed him nothing but love and patience and support and guided him through the F1 circus while still trying to navigate it all himself.
Carlos is the kind of person who is always there to praise his fellow drivers when they do well. Who congratulates Charles Leclerc with unbridled joy and happiness whenever he does well, even though your teammate is supposed to be your biggest rival. Who said he was proud of George Russell for being the new Mr. Consistency. Who openly applauded Max Verstappen after their fight in Canada.
Carlos is the kind of person who, in the middle of his first win, took the time to post about Zhou Guanyu and Alex Albon saying how thankful he was that they were both okay.
Carlos is the kind of person who took the time out of his day to meet with Karun’s son. Who spoke with a young differently-abled Ferrari fan and took time to read the letter he’d given him. Who holds Rupert’s daughter close to him with the world’s biggest smile on his face.
Carlos is the kind of person who is fiercely loyal to his family and friends. Who unashamedly shows his love and respect for his mother and his sisters. Who openly raves about his father’s achievements. Who attributes all his successes to the people around him.
Carlos is the kind of person who is always willing to make jokes about himself, and let himself be the butt of the joke. He’s the kind of person who isn’t afraid to act like a complete idiot and make a fool of himself. Who has a laugh that is so contagious you can’t help but giggle along with him.
Carlos is the kind of person who is incredibly hard on himself all the time. Who is never completely satisfied with whatever he’s achieving and is always pushing himself to be better. Who never complains and takes every punch on the chin.
I could go on and on, but that is the kind of person Carlos Sainz Jr is to me. Caring, empathetic, selfless, intelligent, funny, hard working. If you think differently, feel free to unfollow me because I will never, ever stop singing his praises.
I think we can all agree that post-Montreal, Carlos was subjected to about one thousand hours of Lando being the human equivalent of >:( and complaining about pit stops and P15s but then they made out about it so problem solved.

does lando ever feel self conscious abt being more "pretty" and beautiful than being handsome? and if so, hoe does carlos react??
Oh I think for sure, especially when he was in his teens. Everyone around him was sprouting and growing facial hair or whatever and he had the barest whiskers to shave every four days or so. It’s hard not to feel frustrated about it especially in such a hypermasculine sport, when people are calling you “cute” and saying “aw how sweet do you look in that suit!”
And then there’s Carlos. And if there’s one thing about Carlos when it comes to Lando, it’s that he will never, ever infantilize Lando. The first time Carlos saw Lando in a suit, he smiled and called him handsome.
Handsome. Not cute. Handsome.
Other times, Carlos would fix his suit for him, step back, look at him critically, then smile and nod and say, “Ay, he looks good, eh? Good-looking Lando.”
Good-looking. And even that felt different, like a peer complimenting a peer.
And so it went, Carlos calling Lando handsome, good-looking, complimenting Lando’s jaw (“Did you do something with it? It looks sharp, no?”) or his muscles when he started putting on bulk (he would whistle and raise an eyebrow. “Strong. Not as strong as me, but strong,” and Lando would snort and kick him even as his heart beat like crazy).
Until the first time they had sex, Lando on top of Carlos, easing himself on, gasping with his palms on Carlos’ chest. Carlos looked at him like he was…well, he looked at him, his hands on Lando’s hips, caressing his skin, and he said it, he said: “Dios, you are beautiful, Lando.”
And no one had called Lando beautiful before. He wanted to be offended - why beautiful and not handsome? - but coming from Carlos, it felt like an affirmation Lando had not known he was seeking. It continued:
“Look at you. Fuck, look at you.”
“I could watch you like this forever.”
“I wish you could see how you look like this. Lando. Lando.”
And:
“Mierda. You’re so beautiful for me. So fucking handsome, Lando. Don’t stop.”
It stopped mattering what other people thought of Lando’s looks, whether they thought he was cute or pretty or whatever the fuck. All that mattered was how Carlos looked at him. And Lando knew he was all of it: he was handsome, he was beautiful, hell, he was even cute. More than anything, he was Carlos’. Within that truth, he could be anything he wanted.

not to sound like broken record but the respect and adoration lando has towards carlos is one of the most beautiful parts of their friendship. the way lando is always carlos’ biggest supporter and number one fan. the way he is enraptured by this man, his friend, his former teammate and isn’t afraid or ashamed to show it. you know even while looking at things objectively it’s the small things that get you, it’s the way lando’s eyes always follow what carlos is doing like he’s the most interesting person in any scenario (sometimes he’s not, shocking i know), or the way he has to make it known that yes carlos sainz jr is his friend and they do stuff together and it’s really cool (not to be confused with carlos’ continuous use of the word carlando, like who does that??), it’s the way lando physically glows while in carlos’ presence like a freaking light bulb.
the fact is while carlos is very gentle when he talks about lando, lando is very firm when it comes to how he views carlos and is not afraid to be assertive when speaking about him and his driving, career or naysayers. he knows carlos’ worth, how much of his spirit he puts into being the best he can in every circumstance and he clearly respects carlos a great deal not only as an athlete but also as a person.
in conclusion: they are very beautiful your honor. i’d like to pick them up and keep them in my pocket ❤️
I don’t run after men BUT for the chance to see Carlos and Lando as teammates again a bitch might just power walk maybe even run a whole ass marathon who knows

I’m pissed about Charles’ race, but hating on Carlos for consistently demonstrating an understanding that Ferrari’s strategies are shit doesn’t make sense. Everybody knows their strategies are shit. We know it. Children know it. Dogs know it. Carlos does something about it.
