Some penguin classic covers I made of some of my favorite books.
If We Were Villains and The Secret History are siblings. One is the pretentious, intellectual older sibling and the other is the earnest, romantic younger sibling. One makes tongue-in-cheek jokes at the expense of the other and one rolls their eyes at the drama of it all, but they share the same nose and have the same taste in red wine because they're in the same FAMILY.
UNDERSTOOD??????
A list I made just to satisfy my vain cravings for resonating mottos for a secret society I'm working on. Enjoy!

Soooo I finished the final gambit the third book in the Hawthorn Legacy series. I'm not gonna lie my main thought for each chapter was "Gray don't piss me off."
Overall this third book kind of fell off for me??? Like first book was okay, and I really liked the second book, but this book I really feel like they were trying to shove so many twists and turns in such a small timeframe that we really didn't even have time to sit down and be like, "Shit Tobey is in trouble," "Shit Eve shouldn't be trusted." I just personally feel like the pace moved sooo fast.
On top of that idk how I feel about the characters in this book. I actually finally warmed up to Avery in this third book bc homegirl was finally standing on business. She really tried to clock Eve and I love that for her bc WE ALL KNEW THAT GIRL WAS WEIRD LETS BE FR. I'm glad jameson stood beside her to but GRAY.
Dont pisss me awf.
The way that Gray switched up on Avery sooooo quick just bc Eve looked like Emily pissed me off. I fully understand that this is a sore spot for Gray but he has been going on and on about him being the heir and him needing to compose himself but as soon as Eve came in that mf turned into a brainless idiot. Bro was so mad at Avery for being suspicious of her he failed to see how obviously weird she was. Tobey didn't want her there for a reason, she asked specific questions for a reason SHE LEGIT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. Like Gray USE YOUR BRIAN USE YOUR BRAIN USE IT THAT THING IN YOUR HEAD! Like she couldnt be more obvious but Gray was like "Looks like Emily close enough." I knew Gray was cooked when he called her Evie rhyming with Emily. idk i feel like Gray is one more Emily look-alike away from turning into Rebecca mom.
Can we also talk about how they just brushed past the fact that Xander's dad actually WANTED him and wanted to fight for custody of him. Skye and Tobias Hawthorn if you have no haters i am dead. For most of the boys dads not wanting to be in their lives and this man WANTED his son. I wish we could have seen more of what the both of them are feeling. Imagine seeing your son/dad for the first time and they want to be with you.
When I got to the ending I really wasn't surprised to find out why Avery was picked to inherit everything. It's just like a rich person to pick a random citizen to take the fire. Tobias really gave the fortune to Avery so his sons wouldn't have to deal with his mistakes which I can understand people are like "Aw he cared about his grandsons" and he also fucked over a bunch of people and damn near sentenced Avery to death just bc she was smart. bro really said "My bad I did this bc id rather you die than them sawry but hey you made it this far!" I would have been pissed if I was her.
So I dooo have the spin-off book The Brothers Hawthorn but imma take a break from that series and start something new. I'm currently reading Hooked, yeah that one book from Booktok. But in the next few days, ill post about season 1&2 of Bridgerton and queen charlotte so look out for those!
If I post my new poem on here are yall gonna throw tomatoes at me?
Clock it
Before I Read A court of silver flames everybody told me how romantic it was and how Cassian is this great mate and how much he loves Nesta but all I Read in his pov was how he lusts after her. Always talking about her body BUT NOT HER AS A PERSON! WHERE IS THE LOVE?!
No cuz let’s talk about it. When it comes to the book community, y’all are some of thee most anti-intellectual people I have ever seen. We say address problematic writers and the themes they put in their books and y’all say “It’s just a book! Let people read what they want!” Y’all get on the internet complaining about long paragraphs and saying y’all skip paragraphs and dialogue as if that makes any sense. Y’all can barely grab ahold of the themes of racism, grief, generational trauma, or the experience of being Black at a white institution in LegendBorn because you’d rather focus on the 5% of romance as if romance can’t also be political. Yet somehow you refuse to read books by Black and Brown authors cuz they’re “too political.” It can be right there in your face and you’d still use the excuse that reading is your escape so you don’t have to pay attention to those things when those things literally drive the book along with the characters. Percy Jackson is about a boy trying to dismantle the system of the gods cuz they got a bit too much dip on they chip and it literally almost always leads to their own children dying. Not to mention they suck as parents too. I’ve yet to read The Poppy War but it’s based off of an actual war. It’s historical freaking fiction. Rin literally sees a chance to have control over her body and takes it. Don’t think I don’t remember y’all being mad about that either. Y’all love The Song of Achilles as if it’s also not about war, touches on the romantic relationship between Patroclus and Achilles after historians have tried so hard to deny that they were in fact lovers, and let’s not forget the misogyny littered throughout the text that’s either there purposefully or the fault of the authors own biases. Like y’all are dumb and you don’t care.
Sooo guys my plan is for the next few blogs should be about the final gambit and once that done imma writing about Bridgerton season 1&2 along with Queen Charlotte cuz I gotta YAP

Rhysand is an idiot for getting angry at Nesta for handing over the Mask to Bryce, I don’t care.
He specifically delegated the task of accompanying Bryce to Nesta and Azriel.
He refused to look into Bryce’s mind.
So Nesta did what the IC asked of her, gaining information and getting a read on Bryce - and then Rhysand has the nerve to threaten to execute her when she makes an educated decision?
Ultimately, Nesta was the one who got to know Bryce. Rhysand’s judgement wouldn’t have been more accurate than hers. ‘Bryce could’ve fed her lies.’ But did you read the interactions between Nesta and her? How they opened up to each other, in a way that they both knew despite everything else happening, that that was sincere?
Besides, Nesta has always been sharp-minded. When has she ever let rose-tinted glasses get in the way of seeing someone for who they are? She is intelligent, and she doesn’t let her feelings get in the way of discernment.
Rhysand had his many opportunities, but gladly handed them off. If you want to be in control so badly to the point you’re willing to kill someone for disobeying, respectfully, take matters into your own fucking hands from the beginning.
I have yet to see Rhysand do one thing that is even remotely intelligent. Has he ever been useful, like truly? When it really came down to it?
