I started this early 2020 but as a much smaller project. As time went on I realised that its scale was also increasing at a fast rate. A whole year later and here we are!
Of course, almost everything here must be taken with a grain of salt. At the end of the day humans tragically just can’t have wings. But if you can suspend your disbelief long enough it’s such a wonderful subject to look into!
This also isn’t anything definitive, just my ideas, research, and theories put onto Hawks–sometimes even going directly against canon (though for the most part I did try to stick to it.)
If you disagree with any of this for any reason that’s fine! My opinion is just one drop in the BNHA fandom ocean.

I'm coming out..sort of.
I need to get this out of my system. I can't come out to my friends or parents. In a tiny town like mine, it'll spread like wildfire. Most people aren't accepting. I once told my dad I thought I might be lesbian because I wasn't interested in boys and he kicked me out for a night. He let me come back because I told him I was kidding. I've ignored my own desires for 3 years now and I'm less than 6 months away from the freedom of graduation. Free to explore the world and most importantly, myself. I've dated many boys and had sexual relations with them. Not once have I genuinely enjoyed it. I thought perhaps I was broken? Why didn't I enjoy this act that everyone else seems to love? And one night, while on vacation last summer, I met a girl in a coffee shop. We clicked. I was in LA visiting my sister for a week. With 3 days of my trip left, we spent every moment together. Roaming Hollywood and Sunset boulevard. The day before I left, we hooked up, so to speak. A lightbulb went off for me. It was the first time I had ever felt so intense. So passionate about someone. My vision was cleared and my confusion vanished. I am lesbian. I am attracted to girls. In the sanctuary of tumblr I can finally shout it to the world. I am a girl who likes girls.
Why I didn't like the word "lesbian"
So, when I first realized I was gay, there was a small pit in my stomach realizing I was officially a “lesbian”. Even after over two years, I’m still uncomfortable with the term at times. Here’s the reason why, and why we need to change the stigma. Now.
1. When you’re walking down the halls in middle school and hear boys chastising a girl for not wanting to hang out with a certain boy after school, accusing her of being a “lesbian” with a sneer across his face, that’s the first hint that being a “lesbian” is a bad thing.
2. Before gym class, in the locker room, hearing the popular girls whispering about some girl who “wouldn’t stop staring” as they changed and was probably “a lesbian”
3. When it’s your freshman year of high school and you hear a group of girls talking about a quiet and “outcast” girl, accusing her of being a lesbian and using the word as if it were a disease.
4. When a girl with a water bottle with rainbow strings around it is questioned about it, and someone asks “what are you, a lesbian?” and she immediately gets defensive, saying “what? No! Of course not!”
The bottom line is that, growing up, being a lesbian carried such a bad stigma, negative connotation, and was used as an insult. the word was thrown around and treated like it was something dirty. When young girls first have an inkling that they may not be straight, their first thought cannot be of dread, realizing they may be a “lesbian.” It is not a dirty word. It is not an insult. It is valid, and all young girls need to know nat they are valid as well.
