SURPRISE LMAO
Here's some info:
This takes place in the Path To Freedom universe but it's a flashback story of Fyodor's past prior to the events of the original comic. Also, the format is a bit different since this time it will be heavily narrator based and not dialogue, so there will be more text than in The Path To Freedom but this overall project is shorter than the comic.
I know I said I will make explanation sheets for The Path To Freedom, but I realised it was hard to do without spoiling major points from this backstory, so I decided to start posting this project first xD Enjoy!
Also yeah You can probably tell which parts are inspired by William from mtp --
Actually there will be a lot of references I'll probably have to make separate explanation sheets for this project too LMAODWKšš

Agency is important to Viktor as a character, as someone who not only rejects the fragility of the organic body on the basis of his personal hangups about labor and emotional turbulence, but also in that he is always willing to use his own body as a test subject.
In Arcane, canonically, the judgement cast upon him for being visibly disabled has been an obstacle in his career in a way that doesn't grant him the privilege or funds needed to work on projects geared towards improving the lives of those bearing the brunt of prolonged work in industrial labor. His body is a front that people are unwilling to see past.
In his masking there is of course a sense of hiding his true self in a very literal interpretation, but this mask can be seen as liberatory: He is the one choosing the version of himself people see, and it does not diminish whatever is behind it. In body-modding there is a choice of what to show, what to hide, what to keep and enhance, what to reject.
The hexcore arc has been described as him being used as a flesh puppet, and this is in direct contradiction with Viktor's defining characteristics circling around the concept of control (of one's image, of one's flesh, of one's living circumstances, of one's emotions). I imagine that possession of this sort is body horror to someone like him, the vulnerability of himself as an organic, fallible human a door to this loss.
Where the hexcore uses organic tissue to grow, the inorganic becomes a symbol for reclaiming one's agency. Viktor and Jayce are scientists, engineers - in times of hesitation and grief, they do what they do best. I imagine machinery to be an opposite to the arcane: Metal is reliable and human where the arcane is unpredictable and beyond the confines of humanity as a species.
To bring yourself back to the body you rejected, that rejected you, you must go back to being human, and what's more human than invention, creation, a product of the earth sculpted by human ingenuity?
In our factory, we made hammers. You always save yourself. There is always a choice.
And why Dazai treats them so differently.

The symbolism of Atsushi and Akutagawa:
From their outward appearance and their design alone, Atsushi and Akutagawa are meant as opposites, but theyāre also a duality:
Both wear black and white clothes, but whereas Atsushi is mostly white with a streak of black, Akutagawa wears mostly black with a streak of white. Itās even represented in their hair colours.
Besides this, there are many other things that mark their oppositeness and their duality to each other:
Atsushi is a member of the ADA, while Akutagawa is a member of the PM. Atsushiās ability colour is blue, Akutagawaās ability colour is red. Being a member of the ADA makes Atsushi someone who works for the ālight and dayā, Akutagawa is someone who works for the ādarkness and night.ā Atsushi loves cats, Akutagawa hates dogs. Atsushiās ability takes the form of a tiger, Akutagawaās ability represents a dragon, both creatures are important elements in Asian mythology. Ultimately, Atsushi symbolizes life or is associated with life, while Akutagawa symbolizes death or is associated with death.
Considering this, the title Shin Soukoku (Double Black) isnāt even a fitting name for them, since they both arenāt simply a double, as both Mori and Fukuzawa or Dazai and Chuuya were.

YES I LOVE THEM BOTH SM!! they had sm chemistry towards the end
I have so many thoughts (and feels) about Jean and Reinerās relationship, but I find them hard to put into words.
Anyway, what strikes me the most about them, is the fact that they both started off as rather minor, but well fleshed out side characters (instant faves), who eventually underwent tremendous changes and, at least for me, set the tone for the entire story.
Reinerās shift from the toughest solider around to the most vulnerable victim of war, and Jeanās shift from a self-absorbed asshole to the most caring and selfless leader, tie in very well with how their own bond was shaped in the grand finale.
What can I say, Jean is Jean because of Marcoās death. So, when he tells Reiner heāll never forgive him, he canāt forgive him, this is what Reiner surely expects to hear, just like the rest of us.
But then, the moment Jean realizes why Reiner did what he did, and that their motivations are exactly the same, Jean backtracks on what he said ā does not forget (because it's still about Marco to a great extent), but does forgive, if you ask me.
Jean then proceeds to be visibly alarmed whenever Reiner is in any kind of danger and comes to his rescue time after time. And Reiner? Well, he is still the same suicidal man who has for a long time considered himself to be the biggest piece of shit, unworthy of anyoneās forgiveness. And here comes the best friend of the man he helped to murder, the one that should despise him the most, and shows him that Reinerās life is important to him. Jean doesnāt spend the final battle shouting Connyās name like a maniac or worrying about Mikasa (as if she needs that, ha) ā he instead focuses on Reiner, because he gets him now and because he regrets dealing damage to the man who has been already damaged enough.
In the final chapters Jeanās mission, aside from the obvious one, is to keep Reiner alive.
So, Jean shows Reiner how much he cares. He single-handedly saves him from the Colossal Titan. Tells him he is still one of them.
Once Reiner realizes Jean really means what he says, something shifts. It must be strange for Reiner, to acknowledge this kind of concern for his person ā taking into consideration not only their rocky past, but also the contrast between his own mother and Jean. One telling him he is only as valuable as his Titan power. The other telling him to stop transforming because he's afraid Reiner will get hurt again.
From that specific moment shared with Jean, Reiner no longer seems as much resigned to his fate. On the contrary, heās focused and determined. And to shamelessly quote Gojo Satoru (hehe), he knows that dying to win and risking death to win are two completely different things.
(and Jean continues to worry)
What Iām getting at is that along the way, Reiner and Jean have become the hidden heart of the story. Together, they shifted from the sidelines to the very center of the action.
Even if they are just one piece of the puzzle, drowning in the bigger picture that are Eren, Mikasa and Armin, Jean and Reiner are the ones that, quite possibly, have the most to say about humanity itself in the AOT universe. They are the bridge between the two sides of that war.
Isayamaās decision to pair them up for the final showdown and to continue placing them next to each other in almost every following panel is a very nice touch. (They are his faves too, after all)
Not to mention this cover variant:
One of them is a child turned into a weapon of mass destruction. The other almost a toy soldier in the grand scheme of things.
It's good they managed to save each other.
