Steal my beauty products? You're in for a surprise

A few years ago when I was a student, I lived in a shared house type situation with five other people. We each had our own rooms, but there were two bathrooms that we had to share. There was a smaller, third space, that was just a small room, with a shower and a teeny tiny sink and vanity. Tbh, it was the smallest room and because it was an old house, it wasn’t the prettiest looking space and some of the mildew and damp patches could get bad in the winter, but it had the best shower pressure, so I preferred to use that space to shower.

About a month after my friend moved out and another girl moved in, I noticed that I was having to buy shampoo and conditioner more often than usual. Now, other people used to keep some of their personal belongings in the bathrooms, but it was easy to identify who’s was who, or sometimes it’d be named. It’s that thing of if you want to use something or borrow something, then ask.

Skeleton Trees Of Boneyard Beach 12 – A Blended Photograph, With The Sunrise From Cape Hatteras National

Skeleton Trees of Boneyard Beach 12 – A blended photograph, with the sunrise from Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Skeleton Trees from Boneyard Beach at Botany Bay, SC on 01/28/2015 Our life is contrived from the start. The grounding foundation of our way with life is having our way with life. How to have our way in each situation as it arises– in every here-and-now that comes along– it our prime motivator. How do I get/have what I want today? And keep from getting/having what I don’t want? All day? Every day? If we are ever thrown into a life where we cannot ever hope to have what we want exactly like we want it, we wonder why go on. “So what? Who cares? What difference does it make? What’s the use? What’s the point? Why try?” become the burdens we bear every day. And it isn’t just us. It is everyone. It is the entire culture. It is the entire world of cultures. We are in it for what we can get out of it. And we bend, shape, form, contort our bodies and our lives to have the best chance of getting what we want. We do whatever it takes to have what we want. Our life is contrived from the start. NO CONTRIVANCES! NOTHING CONTRIVED! STOP IT NOW! That would change everything. And to live the life at the heart of life, we have to do that very thing: No contrivances! Nothing contrived! Stop it now! And replace it with what? We have no idea. We are so lost to the true center and ground of our living that we are completely clueless as to how to go about life without getting, having, keeping as the directing force of our living. Getting, having, keeping is what guides our boat on its path through the sea. Without that, we drift, flounder, capsize, sink. Poor, pitiful, us. What to do? When we don’t know what to do, the one thing that is always best to do is grow up some more again. We always grow up against our will, so no growing up ever happens until we are at the end of our rope. At the bottom of some wall. Wobegon and woeful “on the heaving waves of the wine dark sea.” There is always one more door to open. It is the one that leads to ourselves. To the Self that has been with us through it all. The Self that knows the way to life without contrivance. But. “That which we seek lies far back in the darkest corner of the cave we most don’t want to enter” (Joseph Campbell). To live without contrivance is to live with complete, utter, vulnerability. Jesus was born in a manger and died on a cross. How’s that for vulnerability? Jesus said, “If you want to be my companion, you have to pick up your cross each day and come with me.” They don’t talk about this on Easter morning. It’s all resurrection and life and Jesus died for us so that we don’t have to. BS. BS. BS. Jesus died as a way of saying, “This is how it is. The path to the empty tomb winds across the face of Golgotha. In the service of life, we die every day. Are you coming or not?” The Way is the way of vulnerability. And the power of vulnerability is that once you say yes to that, understand that, embrace that, nothing can harm you ever. You walked right into the cave you most don’t want to enter. You strode all the way to the darkest corner far in the back. You seized the treasure that has been waiting on you all these years, embraced your vulnerability and walked out of that cave completely immune to the worst life can do. You are Ulysses smiling up at the Cyclops, spitting into its ugly red eye, saying, “Show me what you got!” And, in that moment, you know the secret of facing every day, every moment of every day, each situation as it arises in the strength and confidence of one who knows you have what it takes to find what it takes to do what needs to be done in all circumstances, no matter what, all your life long– and that it comes to you in your moment of need, in the darkest place, in the most hopeless hour, in the here-and-now comes “the still, small, voice,” suggesting the way, the right way, the right response, the right reply, the right deed, the right action for this time, this place, right here, right now, arising from within– spontaneously, unbidden, unthought, unimagined, but undeniably occurring to you out of nowhere, offering in the darkness resurrection and life. And like that, contrivance gives way to occurrence. And it is a new world, Golda. A brand new world.

SOCIAL DISTANCING - STUFF FOR YOU TO DO AT HOME!

I literally can’t stress enough how important it is to stay home at this time if you are able to. We need to stop this bitch of a virus from spreading as much as we can. Do your part, be a goddamn hero. All you’re being asked to do is stay the fuck home. If you have to go to work, take all necessary measures, and stay safe. Anyways I was thinking of stuff to do while we are all home, and came up with a list I thought could be helpful, so here we go!

Spring clean your entire house.

Clean out and organize your wardrobe.

Try out different outfits so that you’ll have new options once you can go out again.

Organize your documents.

Tackle those taxes you’ve been needing to do.

Clean out your computer files.

Clean your makeup brushes.

Declutter expired makeup while you’re at it.

Organize your skincare products!

Try some of the face masks you’ve been hoarding.

Do a hair mask.

Follow that makeup tutorial you’ve seen on youtube but was too lazy to try.

Take selfies of that makeup look to register it bc you ain’t going anywhere.

Read that book you hadn’t had the time to start. Hell, read a whole book series.

Binge watch tv shows on netflix, amazon prime, hulu, disney+, or whatever floats your boat.

Learn a new skill online.

Take up a new hobby.

Try at home yoga/pilates, by following youtube videos or downloading an app.

Get some writing done.

Learn new recipes, attempt cooking/baking out of your comfort zone.

Play with your dog.

Learn how to dance??!! By following youtube tutorials.

Learn a new language through duolingo or a similar app.

Play boardgames with your family.

Or play a videogame.

Put some music on, light a scented candle and try to meditate (there’s apps you can use for instructions).

Go to your backyard or your balcony and soak in some sunlight.

If you have none of the above, open your windows and let the sun in.

Try different diys (make some slime idk what the kids are doing these days).

Facetime with your family/friends.

Start a bullet journal.

If you have the space, take up gardening.

INHERITED DEPRAVITY?  BY STEVE FINNELL

Do all men inherit guilt from the sin of Adam? Does the fact that Adam sinned mean all of his descendents are born depraved? Many denominations teach that as facts. Those denominations who baptize unbelieving infants do that because they believe infants are born guilty of Adam’s sin.

The Westminster Confession

CHAPTER 6

Of the Fall of Man, of Sin, and of

the Punishment thereof.

I. Our first parents, begin seduced by the subtlety and temptations of Satan, sinned in eating the forbidden fruit. This their sin God was pleased, according to his wise and holy counsel, to permit, having purposed to order it to his own glory.

II. By this sin they fell from their original righteousness and communion with God, and so became dead in sin, and wholly defiled in all the faculties and parts of soul and body.

III. They being the root of mankind, the guilt of this sin was imputed, and the same death in sin and corrupted nature conveyed to all their posterity, descending from them by original generation.

IV. From this original corruption, whereby we are utterly indisposed, disabled, and made opposite to all good, and wholly inclined to all evil, do proceed all actual transgressions.

V. This corruption of nature, during this life, doth remain in those that are regenerated; and although it be through Christ pardoned and mortified, yet both itself, and all the motions thereof, are truly and properly sin.

VI. Every sin, both original and actual, being a transgression of the righteous law of God, and contrary thereunto, doth, in its own nature, bring guilt upon the sinner, whereby he is bound over to the wrath of God, and curse of the law, and so made subject to death, with all miseries spiritual, temporal, and eternal.

The doctrine of Inherited/Total Depravity has been adopted by many denominational churches due to the writings of Augustine of Hippo (AD 354-430 and John Calvin (1509-1564)

Those who believe the false doctrine of Original Sin say all men are sinners at conception.

There are no references in Scripture that state men need to be forgiven for Adam’s sin or that men inherited Adam’s guilt.

If all men are born totally depraved how did Moses serve God? Moses did not live under grace. Moses did not receive Christian baptism as an unbelieving infant.

Was Abraham totally depraved at conception? Genesis 18:19 since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all nations of the earth will be blessed? 19 For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring upon Abraham was was spoken about him.“ (NASB)

Questions: How it possible that God would chose Abraham if he was totally corrupt at conception? How could Abraham’s children and household do righteous acts and justice if they were totally defiled and only inclined to do evil?

The doctrine of Original Sin/Inherited Sin and Total Depravity are not found in the Bible, they only written in man-made creed books.

Was Noah guilty of sin at conception rendering him totally depraved? Genesis 6:8-9 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 9 These are the records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.(NASB)

Did Noah trick God into thinking that he was a righteous man? No, God cannot be deceived, however, men can be deceived into believing the false doctrine of Original Sin, Totally Depravity and Inherited Depravity.

Was Job a guilty of Adam’s sin at conception? Was Job not capable of resisting evil? Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.(NASB)

Was the first Gentile convert to Christianity a totally depraved sinner at conception? No. Acts 10:1-2 Now there was a man at Caesarea named Cornelius, centurion of what was called the Italian cohort, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the Jewish people and prayed to God continually.(NASB)

Inherited Depravity is a man-made doctrine found in denominational creed books. Original Sin/Inherited Sin is not found in the Bible.

Atheist and nonbeliever are not born evil. Many atheist and non believers do good works.

All men sin and are guilty of their own sins. No person has inherited sin from Adam.

All men need a Savior because of their sin, not because of Adam’s sin.

been grieving old things in the past lately. and when i say this, i don’t mean the sad things or the bad things, but the good things. i think when we see the word “past” we automatically assume it’s a negative place that we should no longer look at. i admit that i’ve been trying not to look back because they say it keeps you from moving forward. and it’s true. but i’m finding that it can also be hard to move forward without looking back once in a while. looking back at how far you’ve come. looking back at all the memories and people you’ve left behind. looking back at the dreams your 8-year old self wrote in her diary. looking back at the things you used to do but stopped doing because of failure, criticism, or fear. looking back at old pictures of yourself wearing things that used to make you feel confident but now see it as “cringey.” looking back at the things that used to make you, you. not the things that destroyed you, but the things that molded you. that make you who you are today. i don’t know about you, but i feel like the past should be visited every once in a while to remind us of who we really are or once were—before social media, before adulting, before the relationship, the job, the degree, or even before today. the good things.

so play those old songs again. visit those cringey “what was i wearing” pictures again. watch those high-pitched videos of yourself. read that journal you wrote in during that tough season. and bring those ideas and dreams you left behind back to life.

your past doesn’t need you, but don’t forget how it’s made you. don’t forget the people you’ve lost in touch with or the loved ones you’ve lost along the way. don’t forget the words that uplifted you and sparked a fire in your heart. don’t forget the blessings and miracles God’s done in your life.

life moves faster than we think. so cherish every moment and remember how far you’ve come and all the things God’s done in your life. and remember, that it’s not too late to start over. it’s not too late to try again. it’s not too late to dream again. and it’s never too late to hope again.

may hope fuel in your heart for all there is to come and all that can be.

“Intercession is truly universal work for the Christian. No place is closed to intercessory prayer. No continent – no nation – no organization – no city – no office. There is no power on earth that can keep intercession out.”

Richard Halverson

I don’t tend to see Christians talk about this much, or in a very nuanced way, and I think it’s worth talking about. and that is that suppression and surrender are two different things.

suppression is the refusal to acknowledge feelings you’d rather not feel. it’s stuffing them down out of shame or guilt, or the belief that you’re not “supposed” to feel them, in favour of pretending that you don’t experience them at all. suppressing anger, for example, leads to long-term bitterness, grudges, and burn-out from pretending you’re a happy peppy optimistic Christian all the dang time. it is deeply unhealthy.

surrender is the active, honest acknowledgment of your feelings, desires, and temptations, without attaching undue shame to them, and then bringing them to the feet of Jesus and choosing to live by His Word anyway. it is not a dismissal of feelings but the very act of bringing them to light so He may show you what to do about them.

surrendering to God’s way does not mean shoving feelings of anger or bitterness or anxiety into a dark crevice, or acting like you can brush off years of pain in a moment.

surrender is telling God you are hurt, letting yourself feel the pain of being wronged so that your pain may be healed by Christ’s tenderness and love.

surrender is telling Him you are anxious, you are desperately frightened, and letting Him be present in your trembling, letting Him be peace and steadiness and unconditional love while you breathe and count and grounding-technique through the wave of panic.

surrender is allowing yourself to say you did not deserve the abuse, you will not stand for abuse, you will not return to your abusers, and working day by day to forgive your abusers and pray for them anyway.

surrender is telling Jesus you are sorely tempted- to cheat on the exam, to cheat on your partner, to objectify your cute coworker, to talk shit about your boss- and allowing Him to lead you away from acting on it and into doing the right thing anyway.

surrender is the exact opposite of suppression.

I so often see this message online, explicitly and implicitly, that whatever you’re feeling is valid– and it is!– but then it just… stops there. if you’re angry, good, stay angry. you shouldn’t have to forgive anyone. you shouldn’t have to treat people with dignity if you don’t like them. nobody has the right to tell you to act in a way that doesn’t completely indulge your feelings. treat yourself. you do you.

I disagree. indulgence may seem like the right fix because it’s surely the polar opposite of suppression. but being a slave to your thoughts and emotions is no better than being a slave to shame. it is good to express anger. it is also good to place limits on your anger so you express it in healthy ways. it is okay to have a mental illness. it is also important to not let that illness define your very being, to remember you are more, to fight for recovery. it is completely normal to be tempted in a thousand ways. it is important to resist temptation and seek to do the right thing, and run to the grace and overwhelming love of God when you don’t.

true freedom in Christ comes when you are open with Him about all you are, and willing to let Him lead you through the maze. true freedom makes room for limits and boundaries, ones that will help you grow and flourish.

James 3

Taming the Tongue

1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Two Kinds of Wisdom

13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

Let God make it happen.

You'll get frustrated trying to make things happen on your own in your own strength.

Let God make it happen.

If He doesn't make it happen, it probably wasn't meant to be.

Trust God! Trust Him with your whole heart! He knows what to do. He knows what He is doing. He's got this and He's got you if you will just trust Him!!!!

Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

God Bless you!

If you’re living in sin and it doesn’t bother you maybe it’s cause the devil has you where he wants you. When you start to go against that sin that’s when he’ll start attacking.

For November, This. 🍁

In Christ alone my hope is found

He is my light, my strength,my song

This Cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My Comforter, my All in All

Here in the love of Christ I stand.🍁
