Fanfiction can save a bad movie like nothing else can

This just in: Fan fiction does it again by making me like characters more than canon could ever dream of doing!!!

I clicked on one post about Colt Seavers trying to get a cup of coffee and now every ad on tumblr is about coffee brewers and makers and gadgets like y’all have the wrong audience

One time during chemo they took my BP and the nurse kinda froze for a second and my mom(a doctor) went “what’s the number” and the nurse said “60/40” and I was like ‘hmm I wonder what that means’ so I i tried to sit up to look and realized it was a Bad Number cause I could not sit up and was suddenly Very Very Popular

It’s like they made a movie just for me specifically

I watched The Fall Guy yesterday

— this movie is on the same tier as The Mummy for me now and The Mummy is one of my favorite movies (i still think the mummy might be better though)

— Ryan Gosling plays the PERFECT sap in love. Ryan Gosling sitting in his car crying his eyes out while listening to Taylor Swift nearly had ME in tears of laughter

— i normally despise “self-aware” jabs from movies that know they’re movies but somehow this one got under my defenses and I loved it?????

— I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU BABY

— I haven’t seen a series of stunts this insane since the Bourne Identity and this movie might have eclipsed it. It’s a movie about a stunt man so the movie is about STUNTS. They could have wrapped it up at any point and I would have been satisfied but they kept upping the ante FOR NO REASON EXCEPT TO DELIGHT ME PERSONALLY and the fights were so well choreographed and edited i never was like “huh?”

— the dog lives and is never harmed even once

— good believable villain

— DID I MENTION THE STUNTS GO SO HARD IT’S INSANE

— is it momoa or mamoa?

— I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE, JUST LISTEN TO THE RYTHM OF MY HEART

Physical media will always be superior in my book. Especially since it seems like digital ownership isn't actually ownership. I like having something that they can't just take away. Plus, sorting through actual DVDs instead of media libraries across 5 different platforms is so much more fun.

Making Edits

Ok so I'm just now getting onto the edit-making scene. And, as with anything I do, I tend to dive headfirst into the deep end. Though I'm not super sure where to start with this one. I'm currently using Wondershare Filmora, which has been treating me well, but I'm not sure if it's the best thing out there. Any advice on good desktop (or mobile) programs?

Also, any tips on creating themes? I feel like a lot of the good edits tend to have consistent themes throughout the video.

Also also - Clip transitions. Any advice on mastering it? I'm not sure how most people go about it. Are they doing each of the movements manually or are they using premade transitions and changing them to fit their needs.

I love when a man actually knows how to do things. Complicated things are nice. But also I like when they know how to properly load a dishwasher. Or like vacuum a room(which is a task that can be done wrong, apparently)

Sometimes, fanfiction is carefully plotted out stories, with plot points and call backs and themes that all tie it up in a meaningful and exciting way.

And sometimes fanfiction is, ‘Watch me do a fucking KICK FLIP off this cool sentence!! Also here's some sex'

Both are beautiful forms of writing.

probably my most powerful interpersonal communication hack is to, whenever possible, ask either/or questions rather than yes/no questions

for example, when chatting with coworkers, i’ll often ask if they have any fun weekend plans. but let’s be real - we all feel like friendless losers when someone asks that question and we go “uhhhhh… no.” so instead, i phrase it as “so, do you have anything fun planned over the weekend, or are you just going to enjoy having some time to relax?”

phrased like this, there’s rarely any awkwardness. you’ve presented two options & given both equally positive connotations, so your conversational partner has an automatic “out,” so to speak

but it works for higher stakes conversations too!!!! my mom was saying this weekend how she and her neighbor both like walking around the neighborhood & that she wanted to suggest they take a walk together sometime, but was worried about how to approach the conversation

so i said “how about you just say ‘i’ve noticed we both like taking walks! would you be interested in going for one together, or do you use walks for some precious alone time?’”

now Walking Neighbor has an automatic “get out of jail free card” if she wants to say no!!!! which means my mom doesn’t have to worry about the conversation being uncomfortable, because she’s set it up to go smoothly
