The angst- the pain- IT'S SO SCRUMPTIOUS, WONDERFUL, AMAZING. I'm a mess

C-can we have an angsty time? 😿 What if MC is soon to be ceased and in their last moment they confess their love, barely able to touch RO, as their form just sizzling away in, well, nothing. MC kisses RO for the first and last time and disappears right before the eyes without interrupting eye contact

A: As if losing you once wasn't painful enough, now they had to experience that pain again. And this time, it would be forever, with no return. They tried to reach out to you, feel your touch for the last time...but it felt unreal. You were disappearing into millions of nothing and when they tried to say something, anything, you interrupted them. "I love you" the words are bittersweet, they wanted you to return that feeling, but now it just felt like another fuel for the pain. And when you kissed them, for the first and last time, they welcomed the pain as a gift.

S: They can't survive this again. They've seen you leave more times than bearable...but there was always a way, this time however, things were different. You would never return to them. And if you weren't coming back, they didn't have to stay here. They try to get as close to you as possible, feeling your aura, your energy...."I love you." You say as they make their own confession, that's not a real surprise but they can't help but be amazed at how comforting it is. Their kiss tastes like tears, but they don't care, these aren't just tears of sadness.

Bo: She should be the one to be comforting you. But instead, she's the one being comforted, feeling what's left of you hugging her as you say everything will be okay. "Please, please don't go." She begs you, she has never begged for anything before, not even for life itself. But there's nothing you can do and she knows it..."I love you." You say as she tries to hold on to you even more, futilely, you lean over and kiss her briefly before fading away. And even later when you can no longer hear, she keeps begging for you. 

Kyle: He knew you would be the end of him. But he never imagined it would hurt so much to care about you. Seeing you disappear in front of his eyes was always his worst nightmare and it became real. So real. "Kyle" you call out to him, feeling his hands squeeze you tightly, as if they could keep you from disappearing. "I do not want to know". He cuts off roughly. "But you already know, you know I love you." He holds you tighter but you can't feel his touch anymore and he feels it, letting out an agonized sound. "I will never forgive you for making me love you." He whispers before you interrupt him with a kiss. The first and last kiss in a story that will never happen. 

🔐They don't say anything. All they do is hug you and keep from letting out any emotion. They care about you and you are dying, again and forever. There's nothing they can do to stop it, for the first time in their long existence, they're not enough. "I love you." You say suddenly, and they feel you start to fade faster and faster. "You love me too?" You ask already knowing the answer, of course. "I wish I didn't love you." They respond by looking at you with frustration and barely concealed sadness. You smile, to their dismay, and kiss them and it's what they expected it to be: Soft, sweet and loving. As you disappear, an absolute certainty grows within them. That was the first and the last time they allowed themselves to love.

My name is Yellow. They say that this colour speaks "lies", and, unfortunately, those believing it are not far away from the truth, in this particular story of mine, at least.

"Why is that", you would ask me.

Well, frankly speaking, I FELT COMPELLED TO kill my coworkers. And not only I DARED TO think of it just hypothetically, I actually did it.

Because I am Yellow, and I am an Impostor.

You see, me going on killing spree had been an OBLIGATORY condition upon which I was ALLOWED on the board of spacecraft. That was a magnificent ship, you can trust me on that fact alone. Sadly, now it's smashed into smithereens thanks to me. Oops.

But every story has a beginning, and this one had started from the dying star – the Sun. A group of scientists had been strucked dumb by a dreadful omen of it. Thus, the research of finding a new place to live in had begone. A special team of 10 people who HAD THE COURAGE to take such enormous responsibility had been sent in the open space, to live and thrive among Supernova until they could find a way out of humanity's doom. Of course, I was in that team as well. Using our real names was PERMISSIBLE, but we really prefered naming each other by our space suit's color. Since then, I was Yellow. But I was an Impostor far long before that.

On the spaceship, there were vents. Everyone was BANNED from tinkering with it. Wouldn't had sense in the first place, as we HAD BEEN FORCED TO literally spend our lifespan in cosmos, if not for someone stealing the tools with which help you can go through vents and stuff. This someone was me.

Via vents, I'd been watching my crewmates, stalking them until we were alone - and then, I striked. The first murder took place in Storage room, and after that this place was decided to stand as a FORBIDDEN one. Didn't stop me from giving them all an inexplicably experience of life and death, though.

After third murder we had established meetings, during which we discussed who could have even a marginal connection to vents.

After seventh, attendance upon them was no more COMPULSORY- everyone still alive were trying to get into capsules in desperation, trying to save themselves.

After my last prey, everything went Yellow. And then - Supernova

[ Fernweh Saga is a character driven, romance focused interactive fiction with slow-build horror elements that unravel as you move deeper into the plot.]

~Some homecomings feel more like rude awakenings, but this one will become a waking nightmare…~

You return to the small town of Fernweh after the death of your grandfather, which is ironic because you were explicitly sent away from the town by him following the tragic death of your parents in a house fire. It’s been several years since you left. Returning isn’t something that you had considered, but the vague letter you received about tying up loose ends was on fancy stationary and looked official enough.

What was supposed to be a quick trip to collect personal belongings and sign some legal documents soon spirals into a grim mystery when you learn of the odd circumstances surrounding your grandfather’s death and start experiencing vivid nightmares.

Familiar faces are all around; you know some of them as former childhood friends, rivals, or neighbors, but they may become current allies as you all try to unravel what exactly is going on in this small, seemingly idyllic, forested town.

A feeling of unease grows with each sleepless night spent within Fernweh’s borders, but you can’t leave yet…

It won’t let you.

Play as a man, woman, or non-binary person with the ability to customize your sexuality, fashion style, physical features, room theme, etc.

Allow your personality, habits, decisions, and relationships to influence how you face-off against what lurks within Fernweh like in a horror film/book.

Experience different types of romantic burns and tropes (rivals to lovers, friends to lovers, unrequited love (or is it…?), no strings attached, and more) alongside different types of horror (dread, cosmic, supernatural, survival, and more) as you progress through the series.

Develop ‘something’ (the choice is yours) with the 4 romance options; there are 5 romance routes that are fully integrated into the plot.

Create friendships and relationships with the main cast of characters that are tracked by different point systems.

Understand your past, your parents’ death, and what really happened to not only your family, but to you.

Add to (or take away from) an inventory system that will impact/unlock certain choices later in the game. Clues, weapons, odd items, etc.

Discover that there are more than just small town politics at play; factions will remember how you treat them and may help or hurt you in the future books. (Book 1 is about hints/discovery, while we learn more in Book 2.)

Fight, resist, flee, struggle, or adapt to face whatever is invading your nightmares and the town; there is more to it than a boring ole’ monster…Much more.

DRUMROLL PLEASE-!! (Announcement 6/5/21)

With the completion of the concept of a particular character, I've decided to make an announcement to both introduce this character, and explain how certain romance routes are going to play out.

I'd like to make it clear by saying that seven out of the nine planned romance routes are going to begin in book one. In The Ocean of Stars is book one in what I plan to be at least five different books. The majority of the main cast is that of the crew, and the reader will most likely meet all, if not the majority, by the end of chapter five.

What makes the two other routes different is their placement in the story. Hope (Subject 3024) will not arrive until much later in book one, which is why I've kept much of their story under wraps. However, because of the fact that they do appear in book one, I've gone ahead and listed their route down.

This new RO character is an essential character to the rest of the story, and will play a major role in book two. The introduction of this character is after book one has ended, and because of this, I've yet to add this character to this list as I do not wish to false advertise.

After much thought and consideration however, I've decided to go ahead and tentatively add this character to the list of ROs that will exist in the story.

I cannot say much about this character, this character's motivations, their backstory, etc., because none of it becomes prevalent until the second book. I didn't want to leave readers in the dark about this romance route in case they actually wish to romance them, however, so I will be including this character just in case.

You will have the option to pursue other romance routes until the end of book two, in which case you are permanently locked into a route for the rest of the series.

For now, whenever questions about the ROs as a whole pops up, I will be responding with only eight of the romance options instead of the full nine.

I will be updating the "Meet the Cast!" post soon, so be on the look out for that! Thank you!

In relation to your last ask; I’m a big believer that you do not have to forgive a person just because you love them, so I’m glad that isn’t going to lock one out of a romance with C. Sure, it’ll be “angsty” compared to forgiveness but that shouldn’t be required of a person who was hurt just because they love someone, and I’m excited to explore that detail more in your game personally

Yes yes yes! Everything you've just said is exactly how I feel about it Anon. I'm so glad you're resonating with this. In my experience, not everyone deserves forgiveness and not everything can be forgiven. That doesn't mean you love that person any less, but it means they hurt you in a way you can't forgive. It'll make some scenes more angsty but in the end, it's up to the player how they deal with it all! I never wanted to take that choice away from yall because I hate when I get railroaded into a certain 'good' path in romances even if its OOC for my MC.

So total freedom in all the romances (I mean, as much as coding and the workload will allow me but mostly as much as possible). This game will definitely be a place to explore darker themes and unhealthy sides of love too (not necessarily in C's route). I'm just so excited to let you guys loose in Ferngrove and do as you please.

Good Folk -- An interactive fiction WIP

Eirris has been conquered–again. As other countries seek to expand their resources and their empires, the island nation of Eirris’s largely underdeveloped landscape proves too attractive. The High King of Eirris has been deposed and executed. Amarand now occupies the most populace port cities, and their crown prince now lives in the capital where he is hoping to make an advantageous marriage match. The Eirris clans, once united under the High King, now have fractured loyalties and motives. Some work to return Eirris to its previous power, searching tirelessly for an heir to the high throne. Some work with Amarand, earning themselves access to safe roads and profitable trade allies. Some have taken the opportunity to break free of kingdom rule entirely, and now operate as Free Clans.   

You were born into a fen– a group of warriors loyal to a clan– and within the first two decades of your life, your group managed to make quite the name for yourselves as fearless and loyal adventurers. Can we have a scenario where someone was insistently flirting with RO (and making them uncomfy) and MC, taking matters in their hand, just strolled over to RO, smooched their cheek while saying something "sorry, my love, were you waiting for me long?"

(in crushing stage, but the crush at this point was reciprocated so much that it was nearly physically painful to watch these two dancing over the topic)

Note: It's perfectly fine! I'm actually really happy to have someone so interested in the story and the characters, it really makes me motivated to write the story to completion :D I'll be referring to the flirt as Person A so there's not much confusion. :)

This got pretty long so the rest of the ROs are under the cut :D

Alistair isn't one that really gets flirted with much. He may flirt back with other people or entertain them, but if he's already interested in someone he's definitely shutting down any and all attempts towards him. If in the chance that someone is as persistent as person A is he'd be pretty pissed in trying to shut them down, pretty vulgar about it too. When MC comes strolling over, he'd be even more irritated since he thinks that MC might take this in a different light but when MC kisses his cheek and says those words, this man's going to get an incredible boost of confidence. He'd immediately have his arm wrapped around MC's waist, pulled flush against him and murmur "Damn right I've been waiting long". When he addresses person A, he'd me a little less irked and more cocky (more than usual) and speak to person A in a really formal manner (he's still the heir of course) while lowkey insulting them before he'd pull MC away.

Emrys shows his disinterest in the way he looks and speaks to people. As an heir, he's chosen to not be as crude as Alistair and not as hesitant as P. He'll definitely drop some lines like "I have somewhere to be" or "It would be interesting to talk about but perhaps not now" all the while sipping wine while looking away. He also stands at a distance so to have someone blatantly push themselves onto him, he's pretty much unsure of what to do if he's used all the tips and tricks he's learned to avoid conversations and people; which is a lot, let me tell you now. To have MC come to his rescue, he admits isn't a good look for him but he immediately makes it up by reacting appropriately. "There you are, my love..." He'd whisper. He'd place his hand on the small of MC's back and smile fondly at MC before he turns to person A, he'd address him as coldly as possible. Em can only take so much and he has very little patience with people to begin with so this isn't exactly unwarranted, "I have shown my disinterest in you and your topics. Please leave us be before something unpleasant happens. I am asking nicely this time." Doesn't really wait for a response before he drinks the rest of his wine, gives the glass to a servant before he turns to leave with MC along with him.

P isn't as formal as their siblings and acts based on their emotions majority of the time. This doesn't mean they are good with them. They'd try to be as polite as possible in turning down the person while being direct, even trying to walk away from the situation. They don't really do well with confrontation and are very impulsive so they might blurt out that they're already seeing someone even if MC and them aren't a thing yet. When MC comes to their aid, they're definitely going to melt and be very thankful. They'd try to wrap their arm around MC's shoulder or waist but because of their nerves, they might just hold MC's hand instead. They'd look at MC to have a jolt of confidence before turning to person A and just outright telling them to leave. "I don't like you in any of the ways you're implying. I have someone that I adore and they are the person beside me right now. Please leave... Or else you'll be thrown out." They usually don't use their position as a royal in order for things to go their way as they really really hate being a royal. But, this time, it's necessary. They won't be as calm in their escape since they're literally running through the halls with MC behind them.

Yeriel has had a fair share of people trying to flirt with them and each time they've never really shown any interest in them. That also comes with pushy flirts like person A and they've learnt how to deal with it. Entertain them for as long as possible without promising anything. But it dawns on Yeriel that person A is incredibly pushy and doesn't take any vague answers or replies that deny them of what they want. There are only a handful of things that make Yeriel uncomfortable but this is definitely added to the pile. They'd be really polite in shutting person A down, saying that they're already interested in someone. When MC comes to the rescue, they'd definitely feel relieved. It would take them a while to respond to person A because they're literally just staring at MC with heart eyes and just admiring them, one hand gently caressing their hand that Yeriel unconsciously reached out for. When they do address person A they'll still be polite and wait for them to leave. Yeriel's not budging, they're glued to place, their thumb still gently rubbing over MC's knuckles the whole time.

Flirting is something Seiraya is sure they're good at. So when person A flirts with them, Sei is flirting back out of habit. None of the words they say mean anything though and most are just the cheesy stupid flirtatious remarks that Sei is sure would turn someone off and leave them alone. Bad move, it interests person A more. Definitely bothered and concerned to the point that they'd just do an awkward/nervous laugh at the comments. When MC comes to their rescue, they're definitely relieved. Will be surprised at the gesture though which immediately catches them off guard and they'll end up stuttering a bit towards MC like "O-oh... you're... you're finally here...." Their voice might crack a little too. They'd have to clear their throat, give them a minute, before replying to person A like. "Sorry... You're cute.... Not cute enough though." And boom they're turning their back and pulling MC away from the person and the situation. They're very flustered actually.

In short, please go easy on the ROs. They've never really fallen in love before.

Caleb Walker (M)

Caleb has a very short temper and is standoffish. He can control and produce fire from his body. He is very outspoken and honest. Caleb are known for their temper. Also they are very intimidating to the other students on campus. He has curly brown hair, light brown eyes, dark brown skin, and a tall athletic build. Caleb’s hair is down to his ears.

Evie Hoffman (F)

Evie is silent and keeps to herself . People do not approach her ever because of her ability to see and conjure the dead. She doesn’t talk besides giving brief answers or sounds and head movements. Evie is mostly seen with headphones and also spend most of her time painting and drawing. She has light olive skin and dark blue eyes. She is on the shorter side. Evie has chin-length dark brown wavy hair and a thin build.

Rafael Baez (M)

Rafael is the campus’ residential flirt. He is known for his sweet talking and he say less than appropriate things. Rafael uses this to get out of sticky situations he get himself into. He has giant vibrant white wings that help him soar through the sky. Rafael has tan skin, dark brown wavy hair and green eyes. He is of average height and has a lean muscular build. Rafael’s hair is at his ears.

Benny/Brie/Boe Clark (M/F/NB)

B is cocky and overly confident. They are also a kleptomaniac but barely gets caught because they’re fast. Because of B’s super speed, they are always three steps ahead of everyone else. They are very sarcastic and will make jokes a lot. Takes nothing seriously and would rather not bother with boring things. B has fair skin and straight strawberry blonde hair. Benny wears his hair cut short, whereas Brie and Boe have long hair past their shoulders. They have light blue eyes and a gangly build.

Nasir/Naeva/Noor Traore (M/F/NB)

N is very kind and caring. They can read minds and move things with their mind. They are the most intelligent student at Jemison and spend their time studying or helping others. Despite this, they don’t have friends and spend most of their time in the library. N has deep brown skin and kinky dark brown hair. Nasir's hair is in a short afro. Naeva is in a larger afro that reaches past her chin and Noor’s is just past their ears. They have dark brown eyes and wear round glasses. They have average height and thicker build.

Silas/Sloan/Salem Adams (M/F/NB)

S has a noble and honest spirit. They have the ability to break apart and put together matter. They do not tolerate injustice and are quick to step in to a situation in order to make things right. S is also very kind and curious about everything. They are always asking questions and is quick to learn new things. Silas has light skin, blonde hair, and grey eyes. Silas hair is up to his earlobe. Sloan's hair is at her shoulders and Salem’s hair is up to their chin. They have a very tall, muscular build.

Hi, I’m Tandra. The Odessa Dating Games is an interactive fiction novel that I started over on the Choice of Games website. It’s been just over a year over there and I decided it was time to take the game to Tumblr!

Here’s the quick rundown of what you need to know about the game! A more detailed list is over at the forum.

Play as a man, woman, or as non-binary! Be gay, straight, bisexual or pansexual.

Romance loads of characters, including your roommate, the heir to the throne and more!

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer as you work to uncover what threatens your home country of Odessa, all while competing in a competition with loads of challenges to test your skills, strength and more. 

Create the royal of your dreams, or play as a default royal character.

THE RO’s

The Heir to Odessa, who can have pre determined looks, or can be custom made to your liking, right down to their hair, height, gender and more. 

The Heir’s younger sibling, Mozelle Wyman, a redhead with a love of speaking before she thinks.

Your roommate, Odi/Odanna Baxley, whom you’ve been living with for quite a while. O has tattoos, brown hair, blue eyes and is the whole reason you get into the competition in the first place. 

Lyon Powers, a tech intern in charge of keeping track of your performance while in the games. 

Jenna Young, leader of the Odessenters, a group aimed at trying to take down the Odessa Royal Family once and for all.

Some questions you might have…

What was your inspiration for this game? I’ve always loved reading and playing games that involved royal families and royals! As far as games/material, I was inspired by Princess Academy by Shannon Hale, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, as well as Drag Star from COG and various other HG and COG royal inspired games.

When will this game be finished? Totally up in the air at the moment. I have a full-time job, so this is only a side hobby. I would love to have this out by 2022. 

How often do you update? Pretty randomly. There’s no set time for updates, but I always update the title on the topic on the COG forum. I’m a night owl, so they tend to come in the middle of the night haha. I will do weekly updates on here just to keep myself accountable and you guys interested!

How many chapters will this game be? At least 12.

Will there be a sequel? No, this will be a standalone novel, but as the game nears competition, I might entertain a new story set in the same world, or writing a prequel.
