In a small corner of Gaza, where the lights fade and darkness falls, Mahmoud sat alone, thinking. He was a young man like any other, dreaming of a better future, a safe home, and a job that would provide him and his family with a decent life. But the dream turned into a nightmare, and life into a daily struggle for survival.

Mahmoud's family, which includes 43 members, lived under the burden of siege and war. They lost their homes, and watched their dreams fade before their eyes. Every day was a new challenge, searching for a living amidst the lack of water and electricity, and the fear of bombing that could come at any moment.

"I saw hope in the eyes of my children, but the siege was taking it away from them little by little," Mahmoud says sadly. "They wanted to play in the streets, and go to school, but all that surrounded them was destruction and fear."

Mahmoud's dream now is simple, to get his family out of this hell, and to start a new life in a safe place. But the costs of migration are high, and far beyond their means.

Noha is a story of courage and determination. She reminds us that disability is not a barrier, and that anything is possible if you are determined enough.

“We need your help,” Mahmoud says, his voice trembling. “We need a chance to build a better future for our children.”

My wife’s first act after the ceasefire agreement is announced will be to walk through the streets, crying.

Layan’s first act will be to visit her school, my cousin’s grave, and my uncle’s grave.

Sarah wants to stay out in the street until midnight, without fear.

Adam wants 100 shekels to buy many things and toys and to visit the beach.

And all of them want to go on a long drive in the car.

As for me, I just want to cry and sleep for a long time.

To cry for dozens of loved ones, and to sleep for the first time without fear—because we are truly exhausted.

With the onset of winter, living in the open or in tents has become a difficult challenge for us after the bombing destroyed our homes. In the absence of medical and treatment facilities, our suffering in the camps doubles to the point of despair of the possibility of life. These are scenes we see daily on television screens, but their aggravation has turned them into ordinary scenes that do not stir feelings. Therefore, the bombing continues without stopping, and the occupation forces do not find themselves required to stop their practices. Scenes that no longer stir human feelings, especially among politicians who consider them “necessary damages of war.” We hope that the human conscience will awaken from its slumber and rise up for the sake of the hungry in Gaza, and for the lives that are lost daily in the homes and tents that Israeli aircraft destroy without conscience.
