The sea swells like a symphony, and Harry finds himself tangled, untethered, in the reverie.
The tomb is here, he knows it, he knows it, but there’s no simple way beneath the surface, no path through the craggy caves, the harsh caps of them splitting the water like sentries.
There’s a sound over the wind, a sharp, singular tone among the roaring rip of the current. Harry listens again, the water pulling at his clothing— denim laden-down, his hoodie turned a vice.
The sound comes again, echoes off the cliffside, high and hollow. Harry strains toward it, as the deep strains toward him.
Then, clear, breaking: “Potter!”
It’s no small thing, to keep a broom steady in the gale that swirls over the sea. But there he is, upright, if not wind-blown. Draco.
Harry goes to call, but finds his throat raw, salted and aching. How long since he’d last spoken?
He raises his arm, as high as he can manage (half-mast, and flagging).
Enough— it’s enough. Draco dives for him, unflinching. His gloved hands snatch at him, pulling, lifting. The mechanics are dodgy, his grip precarious, but in the moment he pulls Harry over the broomstick, he begins their escape, coaxing the steadfast Nimbus skyward.
The ascent is slow, and speech near-indistinguishable, but Draco is undeterred.
“Idiot!” he cries, and Harry realizes then— exhaustion finally overcoming him as he slumps, boneless— that he may actually be crying.
He wraps his hand around Draco’s. Sorry, he thinks. I’m sorry.
“Yo— ne’er le—ve my si—,” Draco is shouting, the storm stealing half of it away. “Once I ge— you o— land, I— goi’ to toss y’ back i— the sea!”
Land, Harry thinks, sleepily. Land, and Draco.
Yes, he’s feeling rather better already.
There’s a reason why enemies to friends to lovers is my favorite trope.

au where in dh the gang takes draco captive
Oh I SO want a fic for this. I think it could work if Harry figures out a little earlier that Draco is the true Master of the Elder Wand and then Voldemort reads his mind so he figures it out too and Harry senses him figuring it out and is like 'oh no draco's going to die that's a horrible terrible thing that can never happen...just because then voldemort would get the elder wand and also for general humanitarian reasons obviously not because i like him or anything.'
So the whole escape sequence goes down pretty much the same way except Harry grabs Draco and takes him with them - as their prisoner (he is a Death Eater after all and can't be trusted). They drop the other rescued people off at Shell Cottage but don't take Draco there since he's not to be trusted. And now they've got a MASSIVE problem. Because what do they DO with him? Harry's still operating under the assumption he would need to kill Draco to get mastery of the Elder Wand and just taking him prisoner isn't enough, plus Voldemort definitely believes that so they can't just leave him! (Ron rolls his eyes in disgust). Meanwhile, Draco has no idea why they've taken him prisoner but once it becomes clear they aren't immediately killing him he's desperate for them to let him go so Voldemort doesn't think he has defected and murder his family as punishment. Also, he's deeply relieved to see Harry and co alive and well though he'd NEVER admit it.
They try keeping him under control in various ways, including the Imperius Curse but Harry absolutely hates doing it. Gradually a grudging truce is reached. They even get some useful information out of Draco about Bellatrix and her vault and what might be in there...and the latest security measures in place under Voldemort's rule. And what do you know? One thing leads to another and somehow they're breaking into Gringotts together and stealing a dragon. And somehow when Draco gets the chance to turn on them later he doesn't. He even gets to destroy a Horcrux in the Room of Hidden Things.
By that point Harry's ready to give Draco's wand back but decides against it since he really does need it seeing as his got lost and it does feel strangely friendly in his hand - increasingly so, in fact. And hey wait a minute. Maybe defeating someone in battle ISN'T the only way you can win control of a wand. Could this be crazy enough to work? And tldr Harry still defeats Voldemort with the powers of true love and drarry except this time he's more aware of it.
In happiness and in sorrow
It’s sad how much of what is taught in school is useless to over 99% of the population.
There are literally math concepts taught in high school and middle school that are only used in extremely specialized fields or that are even so outdated they aren’t used anymore!
I only hate certain types of fic the same way I hate mosquitos and ticks. Like get these nasty little buggers away from me but also I respect their place in the ecosystem.
rereading the hp books and i forgot how CUTE they are
this is them in first year but the others are coming soon! hopefully i can reach the drarry fandom..? (although this one is platonic for obvious reasons)
this took like 100 years of my life 😵 blending the characters with background is always so tricky, i always feel like characters don't match the rest
well, the moment when you're supposed to listen but you know, there's more important matters 🤛🏼
