Fun Story to Share.
I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.
Well - she got this email this morning:
The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.
Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).
Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.

Never question whether a fic is too old to comment on.
vi got colonised tbh. it gives me that feeling when a rich white old man gets with a young SEA lady, brings her to britain and she only gets to see her family through facetime, and that's also the only time she speaks her native language because her man refuses to learn it
cait basically erased vi's identity as a zaunite. she loved vi in spite of that, instead of as a part of her. like how she told vi that she's not like the other zaunites, and saying 'i thought you were one of us' fully expecting her to step away from her people.
vi's been assimilated into piltover, even going against her own ideals by becoming part of the people (enforcers) who killed her parents, who were responsible for executing the systematic oppression of zaun. yet caitlyn's never assimilated into zaun, never even stepping foot into zaun beyond the first caitvi meeting and later when she was gassing the citizens. the show ended with vi living with caitlyn in the top 1% of piltover; no mutual exchange of culture. caitlyn never had to change her mind about zaun the way vi changed her mind about piltover, and remained oblivious to her own privilege and her family's legacy on zaun.
it's just that the sacrifices vi has made for cait, on her identity and on a moral level, has been completely one-sided. this, the imbalanced power dynamic and caitlyn's subtle prejudice against zaun (*) have never been acknowledged in the show. so for them to get back together and have their happy ending without some sort of introspective reflection feels. very uncomfortable. feels like cognitive dissonance.
(*) i say subtle because other than the warcrimes moment, cait often voices her opposition to extreme measures against zaun. however, she supports 'no extreme measures' and 'they are people too' as normative ideas, not really having the ability to recognise the violation of these ideas when it's in front of her and especially not when she's the one violating them. there's constantly an undercurrent of subconscious prejudice in her attitude towards zaunites, and just, a real lack of understanding
a jinx i drew while ignoring uni... arcane is more important
thinking about how these writers literally outright say jinx was the issue in Vi's life while also having cait show no genuine love for vi in any way
Jinx was the one who pulled her out of her pitfighter arc. Cait was too busy going through with martial law to even be bothered to give a shit where Vi was
Jinx was the one that even after everything Vi had done and how angry she was with her, wanted to still be a family with her. To build their family back together, to have Vi be apart of her life along with Isha.
Jinx was the one who found Vi's father and went with Vi to a place where they could heal, stay, and help them out and again...be happy together.
When I tell you these writers can go fuck themselves. It was JINX who loved her sister genuinely, who had looked out for her when the person they put her with in turn couldnt have given less of a shit. just being a dictator and sleeping with someone else. only having Vi be the thing that stops it from happening again...and even that isnt a guarantee considering she hit vi in act 3 for trying to ground her.
WHAT. ARE. THEY. SMOKIIING??? Jinx is literally the one that loves Vi the way she deserves and is the one who loves Vi DESPITE what she cant do for her... im sorry im just angry with how dirty they did jinx and the fact that they literally think shes the problem like??? WTF??W?ASFDJASDJFD

Guys i actually want to share something with you. Because this doesn't makes sense to me. Like a few days ago i started watching arcane with 0 knowledge about lol. And then when I finished the first episode i literally thought powder and vi were stepsisters or powder was just an orphan who taken care of by Vi. Whatever when I finished first season i literally thought Vi and Powder was main ship of the series.
So I was shipping them because they were so obsesive with each other and Jinx literally lost her mind when Vi had to left her. Also Jinx was so jealous when it comes to Vi. Well everything was fine to me until I learned they are biologically sisters. I felt bad first because i haven't shipped this kind of thing before but then i noticed they are just fucking 2d pixels and there is no harmful in this situation. Also i believe that fucking producers made them so close on a reason and gave them a fucking chemistry no ship ever had. Whatever I'm proud to say i will ship Jinxvi no matter what. I don't care if some fucking producers or fandom accept them as siblings. In my mind they are crazy in love.

Modern Jinx isn't malnourish so she and Vi are almost the same height (i say as an excuse to explain why i made jinx so tall)
