Dragonji apprehends Crowxian for his crow crimes đ¤ His punishment is joining Dragonjiâs hoard of suspiciously acquired possessions đ¤
This is a sequel to my previous Crowxian drawing :3
When someone brings out the novel artwork as 'proof' WWXs og body didn't have scars all over his back from YZYs canonical abuse... You know you're dealing with an idiot.
Yes, the art is pretty and a nice addition. But it's not canon and it hardly depicts it either... We have artwork in the novel that shows WWX in red and black during his youth when he would have been wearing Jiang clan purple. He only starts wearing black post burial mounds escape. So that's incorrect...
We have novel art depicting WWX with glowing red eyes... Also not canonically true either. Nor are his tits ever particularly out, but most give his YLLZ era a plunge neckline so low you might be able to see the hint of his garden path if you look close enough!
If you're using mostly fan generated artwork - who have been clearly influenced by the CQL and donghua or their own personal headcanons and preferences - you're a moron and wasting my time.
âUh, yeah,â Wei Wuxian said. He felt his back, which was LINED WITH OLD AND NEW WELTS. He couldnât help but ask the question heâd been dwelling on. âReally, this must be the greatest injustice in all of history. Why am I always the only one getting hit whenever something happens?â
7S translation
Wei WuXian, âUh-huh, thatâs right.â He felt his back, COVERED IN SCARS BOTH OLD AND NEW, and still couldnât hold back the question heâd be thinking about, âHow awfully unfair. Why is it that Iâm the only one who gets beaten up, whenever something happens?â
ExR translation
YZY whipped and abused WWX whenever she was in residence at Lotus Pier. Considering she was apparently barely there and the detailed description of new and old scars (wounds/welts*/injuries - whatever you want to fucking call it!! It's all the same!!!) we see in the extras, she must have harmed him any chance she got while she was back. We see her lashing him (and him alone!) for the most tenuous of "reasons"... The fact it states he was covered in scars both new and old shows historical abuse spanning some time - most likely since he arrived at LP at the age of nine!!!
So don't go pulling that bullshit on me when we're talking about canon FACTS. Especially when people cherry pick the text to conveniently show what they want and omit the stuff that shows they're talking from their ass.
*An English lesson for those struggling with 7S translation choice for the scars on WWXs back...
The term "welts" doesn't JUST mean a swollen bruise like mark on the skin or an itchy raised bump. It's a technical term used for injuries and scars left behind from being whipped or beaten hard and heavily with something. While I'm not a fan of their word choices, this is technically correct in the sense the marks are classified as welts as defined above.
I eat up the headcanon that Wei Wuxian actually knows perfect manners, but purposefully ignores them. Like, Madam Yu didn't want him to be Head Disciple, but when it was clear he was keeping the title, she drilled all the perfect etiquette and proper bows and forms into him until he could do it half asleep. If he was going to be their Head Disciple, she would make sure he would not embarrass them with his manners.
This is still Wei Wuxian, though, so he knows the stuff, but purposefully ignores the knowledge and sometimes goes out of his way to not use it just to be contrary and get under people's skin. Never around Madam Yu, though. Around her, he's picture perfect etiquette because he doesn't want to go through that hellish training again.
Post-canon, when interacting with Lan Qiren(and some other, but mostly LQR), he'll sometimes use his perfect manners to tick them off more. It reminds them that he knows this stuff and is purposefully not using them for the most part, making it just get under their skin more. Some think it would be better is Wei Wuxian was just disrespectful all the time, instead of this.
Wei Wuxian is cracking up inside at it. He's never gonna stop.
itâs the way that for the wen remnants, one of THE most joyful moments they share together, possibly since the sunshot campaign came to an end, was when wei wuxian was able to bring sentience back to wen ningâs fierce corpse. that this cultivation method that wei wuxian had created, unjustly and with prejudice painted as an unequivocally vile, horrible, exceptionally offensive and dangerous thing... ended up bringing these persecuted people so much joy. wen ning, killed too soon for the crime of bearing the wen name, was able to live again, at least in some capacity. this wasnât about creating a weapon, or making the formidable ghost generalâit was entirely about getting wen qingâs brother back, getting the wen remnantâs beloved member back and i do consider it one of the most moving parts of the books in general.
One of my favorites from last year đ
Soulmates AU wangxian where their skins reflect. So Lwj has all of Wwx' scars (bite marks from dogs, belt scars from Madam Yu, a surgery from when JC needed a kidney, a burn mark on his chest, etc) and Wwx has... Nothing. Because they have the same callouses from sports and bruises from training but Lwj has no scars nor does he write on himself or accidentally gets ink on his hands. So Wwx thinks he has no soulmate, because even when he writes things to him (Hi! How are you?? WHO are you?? Are you well??? Are you there????) he gets no reply. Lwj does see it, he just knows his parents were soulmates and their relationship was fucked up, and that his uncle's soulmate didn't want him, and that his brother's relationship with his soulmate is stranged because he likes someone else. So he doesn't want a soulmate at all.
Anyways. Shit happens in Wwx's life, he hits rock bottom and starts getting tattoos. Why not? It's not like he's saddling anyone with them.
Cue Lwj watching ink accumulate on his skin while he's working a CORPORATE JOB. His uncle thinks it unprofessional and they are creeping towards the neck and hands.
So he writes to his soulmate to please stop.
His soulmate: so you DO exist uh.
Lwj: I do not want a soulmate. Or tattoos. Please refrain from getting any more and from trying to contact me.
Wwx: ...
Wwx: okay.
Thirteen years later Lan Wanji falls in love with the gorgeous Biomedical Engineer working at his company, Wei Wuxian, and is doing his best to approach this man who has been so very obviously mistreated (Wwx is on his YLZ era with others). They get closer little by little. And then one day they are on a date and Wwx rolls up his sleeves and Lwj comes face to face with a lotus flower sleeve he knows intimately well.
Cue angst.
it is actually so difficult to insult a guy like wei wuxian because even below-the-belt insults make nary a dent on him. people can call him names, disparage him, ruin his reputation, but his self-image is NOT affected by it. he knows himself and his values. there is a way to get a rise out of him but that usually involves insulting the people he cares deeply about (jiang yanli, lan wangji for example) instead of himself (which is not about having a low self-esteem but having his own boundaries and principles, mind you), but try to spew out hate and he will laugh directly in your face before moving on. someone might be like, âoh, youâre fengmianâs bastard childââ and wei wuxian will just go, âaHhahhahHAHA, nice one. have a good day!â or someone might say, âyouâre a filthy, no-good demonic cultivator,â and heâll just go, ânow, filthy is a stretch. i take great pride in my personal hygiene!â come at him with your wittiest or your most ruthless insult and he will summarily dismantle it before disregarding your opinion entirely. which i think is just another piece of wei wuxianâs mindset that actually allowed him to stand before the cultivation mob and make a stanceâheâs always been one to think for himself and not let others and their words colour his perception of wrong and right, possible and impossible, good and evil, especially when it came to him and his actions. to hell with their narrow-minded judgements, wei wuxian knew where he stood and why he stood there.
We as a fandom need to talk more about how Wei Wuxian changed the Burial Mounds. In the beginning of the story, we are explicitly told this is a place that will kill you dead and leave nothing behind.
"Look at the dark air. Tsk tsk tsk, the hostile energy is strong, isnât it? And the resentful energy is thick, isnât it? Even us at the Wen Sect werenât able to do anything about it. We could only surround it and prevent people from going in. This is still daytime. At night, really anyâ-thing can be found in there. When a living person goes in here, both the body and the soul, they cannot return, unable to get out for all of eternity." - Wen Chao, Poisons, Chapter 60
But then of course, Wei Wuxian survives it. And then he returns, to this hell of a place that left him broken and bleeding, because he has no other choice, because the cultivation world is determined to kill innocents and they have no where else to go.
And within the three years that followed, he does what even the Wen Sect in their prime wasn't able to, and tames THE FUCKING BURIAL MOUNDS. The Wen Remnants start farming there, for crying out loud.
(I do think some of the taming started during when Wei Wuxian was first there, because they were able to enter the place without too much trouble.)
By the time the siege happens, people could walk in and out of the place, and it no longer carries with it the horror it once did.
Even after the siege, with Wei Wuxian dead, the clans are able to remain there, loot the place, and set up prevention measures against Wei Wuxian potentially coming back.
The various clans set one hundred and twenty stone beasts on top of LuanZang Hill and initiated frequent soul-summoning rituals, followed by heightened vigilance and searches for strange occurrences from all over the world. - Prologue, Chapter 1
And then, during the second siege, we again see the clans easily enter the place and throw around their ridiculous allegations.
MXTX shows that Wei Wuxian is a genius in many ways, of course, but this is one that makes me love him so much - with sheer ingenuity and willpower, he made a home out of a hellscape.
