I so very desperately want a crack MDZS mistaken identity AU where somehow the entire Jianghu becomes convinced that not only are Wei Wuxian and the Yiling Patriarch separate people, but that Wei Wuxian has become the Yiling Patriarch's wife/concubine/sex slave (whichever is funnier).
Bonus points if the misunderstanding becomes so widespread because Jiang Cheng throws a hissy fit over the misconception. Lan Zhan should also have exactly one (1) drink and promptly try to go on a drunken one night wife-stealing quest.
MASSIVE KUDOS if someone manages to write in everyone jumping to the conclusion that Wen Yuan is Wei Wuxian's biological child with the Patriarch, and just immediately assuming in relation to that, that evil resentment powers somehow gave Wei Wuxian a working womb. Somehow. Cue Lan Zhan chugging vinegar in a corner.
Everyone is screaming inside. Wei Wuxian says at some crucial point to everyone the truth that he is the Patriarch. No one believes him.
I would write this AU myself, but while my heart says yes, my mediocre writing skills say no.
night escape
Hua Cheng trying to rope Xie Lian into play fighting cause thats what couples do right, its fun and cute and a great chance to roll around and maybe a way to get a lil frisky
Xie Lian insists that no, he wont do it, he doesnt want to accidentally hurt his husband or break something, thats so irresponsible, San Lang, fighting is no joke, i used to be a martial god, you know this
But Hua Cheng insists and pouts and acts all cute and pathetic like gege please š„ŗ just a little bit, for me?
And Xie Lian cant say no to his San Lang of course so it starts all cute and playful until Xie Lian's instincts kick in and he pins Hua Cheng down, hands above his head and a bit too much strength and Hua Cheng turns as red as his robes and bursts into butterflies immediately because he did not expect to be manhandled like that and like it so much

Jiang Cheng: *filming Wei Wuxian standing near the dinner table with a bottle of sake in his hands and a wine glass thatās getting suspiciously full* A-Niang finally agreed that Wuxian can join us at the adults table this New Years.
Yu Zuyuan: *head in hands* And heās about to lose that privilege if he fills up that glass any higher.
Jiang Yanli: Oh come now, A-Xian, you donāt want to end up back at the kids table again, do you?
Jiang Cheng: Yeah, then youāll be talking about Jin Lingās latest playground drama, AND tipsy.
Wei Wuxian: *downs half the glass in one go* You know? I might just decide to hang out with them anyways. I could teach them how to trigger the microwave to set on fire every time Uncle uses the defrost button.
Jiang Fengmian: I knew you had something to do with that :/
Jiang Yanli: A-Xian, your husband is at the adults table this year.
Wei Wuxian: And my son is at the kids table. Iām torn, really. I canāt choose between them. If I told Lan Zhan we were leaving right this second if I couldnāt have them both at once-
Lan Wangji: *looking pained because he agreed to get along with the Jiang family this year* I⦠would agree to join you at the childrenās table?
Jiang Cheng: Oh my god heās such a simp šļøššļø
Jin Zixuan: Iām not that bad⦠right?
Jiang Yanli: I donāt know, A-Xuan, I kind of want to join them there too.
Jin Zixuan: ā¦okayā¦
Jiang Cheng: Iām both disgusted and impressed.
The boys are back! Back to save the day!
Okay, so I thought Wei Wuxian and Jiang Chengās friendship was one of the best parts about season 1 (because you gotta build them up in order to watch them fall, right?ā¦.). I especially enjoyed how in the last episode, while everyone else was pretty much horrified/despairing about seeing the Yiling Laozu!Wuxian for the first time, Jiang was just like, āYou look great for a demon lord, manānow letās go kick some Wen ass together!ā
Good times.
what if....
Ok, but listen.
Jiang Cheng, in nothing but his inner robes, gunning it barefoot down the walkaways of Lotus Pier, because his beloved nephew (age four) decided to escape his bed and climb into an unsecured boat that is now being pushed by wind into the lake, much to Jin Ling's wailing dismay.
JC didn't even think to use Sandu, just launched himself full-tilt from the end of the pier with sheer physical brass of knowing he can eat that twenty metres...
A few minutes later, he was rowing the boat back with one arm, the other full of a wailing nephew, adrenaline finally settling down.
it is actually so difficult to insult a guy like wei wuxian because even below-the-belt insults make nary a dent on him. people can call him names, disparage him, ruin his reputation, but his self-image is NOT affected by it. he knows himself and his values. there is a way to get a rise out of him but that usually involves insulting the people he cares deeply about (jiang yanli, lan wangji for example) instead of himself (which is not about having a low self-esteem but having his own boundaries and principles, mind you), but try to spew out hate and he will laugh directly in your face before moving on. someone might be like, āoh, youāre fengmianās bastard childāā and wei wuxian will just go, āaHhahhahHAHA, nice one. have a good day!ā or someone might say, āyouāre a filthy, no-good demonic cultivator,ā and heāll just go, ānow, filthy is a stretch. i take great pride in my personal hygiene!ā come at him with your wittiest or your most ruthless insult and he will summarily dismantle it before disregarding your opinion entirely. which i think is just another piece of wei wuxianās mindset that actually allowed him to stand before the cultivation mob and make a stanceāheās always been one to think for himself and not let others and their words colour his perception of wrong and right, possible and impossible, good and evil, especially when it came to him and his actions. to hell with their narrow-minded judgements, wei wuxian knew where he stood and why he stood there.
