My favorite and least favorite version of Shadow the Hedgehog is the one from Sonic Boom. In Boom he's a terrible representation of Shadow as a whole character and what he initially represented. But he's a fun character to experiment with because, I can make Shadow's initial backstory 10 times worse.
Like imagine instead of the Space Colony Ark being nice at first and then rated by G.U.N., but now it was always supposed to be a government weapons facility. Maria's still in the picture cuz he needs her but she is the only redeeming aspect about his life.
And one day they deem him too dangerous too much effort to control (maybe he hurt Maria). So they put him in cryostasis. And he's woken up by Dr Eggman, Eggman not knowing how to control or work with Shadow, he just runs off and now he just lives in a cave trying to forget the horrific of Space Colony Ark.
He's angry at living beings for treating him nothing more than an object to experiment on. He's lived through the worst and still has yet to experience the good it has to offer besides those short moments with Maria.
very quick very messy sketch of an idea for penumbra shadow aka my dream sonic x shadow generations outcome. you go you funky alien boy you
Sonic: You know we aren't so different you and I!
Shadow: Yes, but the difference is that I am the ultimate life form, and YOU are a pet.
Sonic to Tom after his interactions with Shadow: Am I... am I a pet? 😢
Tom: Oh no, who told you that?
Sonic with tears in his eyes: T-the mean Hedgehog
*Dumps memes and leaps cackling out the window*
Bonus: have a floofy Vader:

Can I please write a fic about this? (With credit, of course)
Here’s a concept: Natural-born avians don’t exist.Â
All avians were born without wings or feathers or annoying birdbrain instincts. They all used to be human, or something similar. And then something happened that caused them to Fledge.Â
All avians are connected to death, or chaos, or catastrophe.Â
Philza is one of the greatest hardcore players ever. He’s so renowned that he claims the plainspeak name of the universe as his own: Philza Minecraft. (For someone so good at living, dying must have felt like the end of the world.)  He’s successfully courted Lady Death herself. His wings are the color of the dragons he’s fought over and over again, and the endless expanse of the void. His wings are the same shifting shades of inky darkness as the shimmering folds of Death’s dress.Â
Grian is… a bit of an enigma. He vanished from his old server (he was kidnapped, or so the rumors say) and when he resurfaced it was with brightly-colored wings sprouting from his back. He doesn’t fear death (look at the games he plays) and he’s an agent of chaos. His feathers make sense, even if no one can pin down exactly when and why he Fledged.Â
TommyInnit doesn’t have wings, not yet, but’s close. There’s feathers in his hair (white, for the innocence of youth long since stolen) and his dreams are filled with clouds and starlight. He has died and come back. He is at a tipping point. He might Fledge. He might not. Only time will tell.Â
Scott Smajor is luckier than most, or else he’s something entirely new. How many people win a game of death and take snowy white owl’s wings as their prize? (Owls aren’t known for their loyalty. Perhaps they should be.) But that is another world, another time, and although Smajor has always been different, perhaps this is too different.Â
Jimmy’s Fledging has been imminent for a long time now. He’s always at the forefront of disaster, an unwitting herald of swiftly approaching doom. One more world-ending disaster is all it takes, and the next time he awakes there’s golden feathers in his bed and wings the color of sunlight swelling beneath his skin. (Sing, poor canary, and don’t you dare stop.)
