Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.

I've noticed that I'm quite abysmal at keeping up drawing whenever I have a new partner in my life.
I love art and design, but I'm absolutely infatuated with my bae, and it's conflicting. because I don't know how to balance both loves at the same time, as well as my day job.
I don't know what to do with myself at the time, and advice would be lovely.
Friend: Is Brendon Urie even real?
Me: I don't know, but even if he is a fever dream, he's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.
I have learned that watching Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure all over again when you already know the exact flow of the story yields some interesting tidbits—particularly, bits of dialogue and animation are really beautiful examples of foreshadowing, and I’m just like “Ah! That’s so cool!”
Unfortunately, me and my spoiler hound attitude has screwed up one of my roommates. The other one is new to Jojo, and I have to reign in the first roommate so that the second one isn’t spoiled when he doesn’t want to be, and it’s weird to be vaguely told “well, I got used to you being ok with spoilers!”, and it’s like...
...ay, even spoiler hounds gotta have manners around others who aren’t.
I learned that Tapastic lets you put image banners up for your comics. I still wanted one for Twitch, so I did a speedpaint of my planned webcomic’s five main protagonists to get a feel for composition and color planning.
I’m glad that I had a pretty solid idea of what I want my two high elf characters and my one human character to look like, but the furry creature and the dwarf are difficult to pin down in terms of color scheme, and I’ve been struggling to figure out what I’m going to do for them. I think I’m getting somewhat close to what I want for the furry critter, but the dwarf guy is harder to pin down.
That said, the moral of the story is that designing characters in black and white at first makes it difficult to pin down their colors later.
Oh, and as a fun fact, I’m a filthy Orlandoan who’s been corrupted by Disney so much that I’ve made the big tol dude do the Disney point. lol, it’s bad, I’ll do the Universal handwave and/or the Disney point IRL, and it upsets me.
I fiddled around with my car's radio a few months ago while I had Woodkid's "The Golden Age" album in the CD player. This was a nice image, so I fiddled around with it in Photoshop Express. It's a nice little pick me up these days.
I officially have two finished webcomic pages now! I’m pretty happy about this development.
Also, my attempt at playing Passpartout was pretty fun, although I was sad that my favorite doodle of them all didn’t sell in the game. Oh well.
So, I finally got to making the base vector for my webcomic’s logo...other little fixes aside. Also, this means that the name of this project is out there. :P
(That said, I have learned that it’s actually significantly harder to make wordmarks in Adobe Illustrator that look like wood carvings than it is to do more curvy handlettering in it. Yikes.)
The first panel is almost done! That said, aiming to the hatching look vaguely like medieval woodcuts is not as easy as I was hoping it would be, so it seems like this might be another one of those time-sink pages. :/
So, I got hit with a clopening the first day at my new job, and I feel sick from sleep deprivation.
I'm considering sleeping and moving the stream to tomorrow afternoon after running a few errands that matter a whole lot to me.
So, I only worked a couple more hours on the hands up top, but I’d say it’s vague progress.
Oh boo hoo! I didn't translate the list in the exact same order! I'm kinda mad about DuoLingo being picky about things! I know that it's probably some sort of weird function involving an <ol> tag somewhere, but it's like...why do I have to get penalized about "pen and pencil" as opposed to "pencil and pen"?
So, I’m working on a new page—lots of hands, I’ve noticed. Also, spending a bunch of time drawing rocks was kinda fun. But yeah, this is a wip.
I normally don't like photos where I'm wearing my glasses because I haven't been able to afford anti-glare lenses for the past five or so years, so I inevitably get lens flare, but looking at a recent selfie where the rest of everything is more or less well polished is always nice, and I'm happy I have a stash of them that kinda look Leyendecker-ish. Also, I don't like the cold, but I do appreciate the consolation price of wearing coats.
I’m so glad that I managed to finish this tonight! It’s been something I’ve been wanting to finish for a while now. That said, I’ve learned that my current stamina for drawing without getting hand cramps is somewhere in the ballpark range of about 6 straight hours.
Anyway, enjoy these sad saps.
I decided to draw some very tiny, low res Stardust Crusaders for the 50 followers Twitch stream today! Also, it turned out to be a good endurance test—I haven’t sustained 7 hours of solid drawing in a while.
(Fun Note; Avdol actually turned out to be my favorite one to draw. I also wonder if Araki wanted to kill him off because he’s so detailed...but that’s actually what I enjoyed about Avdol’s design when I actually got into drawing him.)
I have 50 followers now! I’m planning on doing a Twitch stream around 6:30PM EST or so in order to personally celebrate. (And I will uncharacteristically draw fan art chibis. Probably.)
I ended/paused the stream, and I’m still drawing at the moment, and I didn’t make a whole lot of significant progress on comic stuff beyond “Ohhh, cool boots!”...
...but I ended up revisiting an alien doodle that was somewhere in my backlog of doodles, but without the rastacap on top. I may or may not revisit the idea of a rastafarian grey Alien—because I liked the idea of an alien that says “We come in peace” deciding that Rastafarians are A+ humans and chilling with them.
Current lessons in DuoLingo land; being specific about translating 写真 as “photo” as opposed to “picture” because it’s already a pet peeve of yours to call photographs “pictures” in ENGLISH, and that’s technically what’s going on here already…is apparently a penalty in Japanese.
Also, taking a more literal translation with 良い is also a penalty.
(I’m concerned about this happening with Mandarin soon, too, even if I’ve yet to encounter that at this time.)
Things I should have done in the past 12 hours; sleep.
Things I did in the past 12 hours; worked on something that’s still not done, but oh boy, do I really like fiddling around with halftones to make a minimalistic a e s t h e t i c design composition I wanted to do for a while.
Also, this has been my jam for this. No lie.
Things I don't like about DuoLingo; generally not understanding the contextual nature of things. Also, not taking my spelling of theatre. Plebs.
I’m not sure if this horrified bathroom selfie properly expresses the horror of starting 2018 with watching the rotting pile of trash known as Grown Ups 2 at a friend’s party.
I’ve actually gotten off of my butt to produce a logo design draft at 4:00 AM for my roommate’s new company that they’re using for subcontracting work. (And my portion of rent is gonna get reduced for this, so eeyyy.)
I somehow managed to forget a couple of Adobe Illustrator shortcuts off of the top of my head, but I got back into the groove of it after a few seconds.
Other than a few technical tweaks and any personal requests, I’m pleased with what I can spit out in about 2.5 hours.
So, the kitsune death god I’ve been meaning to draw has been mostly speedpainted in the past 3 hours. I need to work on some contrast stuff, rendering that scythe, and deciding on the left hand, but...eh. Still pretty cool
Also, I have a 5-minute Milhouse doodle for no reason other than being asked.
It’s not even a good Milhouse doodle, pssh.
I decided to finish (mostly) an old Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer doodle I had in the depths of my computer a long time ago—but with it being explicit that Rudolph just has issues with allergies and sinusitis. His nose glows because he’s miserable. (I mean, why else would his nose glow red?)
Any way, happy holidays. :D
I decided to go back to Pulse after being a borderline recluse for a year and a half (and forcing myself to go to Savoy two weeks ago after talking through some things.)
I remembered a conversation I had with @plaguenurse after she left a crochet Jotaro Kujo in my car. She left it there in hopes that it would go where it needs to go.
Long story short, there is now a crochet Jotaro Kujo at Pulse that I placed there because I feel like it belongs there. I couldn't articulate to you why I feel the need for it to be there, but I still feel like it belongs there more than it does in my car.
I’ve decided to force myself to open up Photoshop again by taking a bunch of photos in unrealistic positions and make some glitch art out of it.
Now I should probably do actual work instead of being a dork with my own selfies.
Ok, so I was 7000 shy of winning NaNoWriMo until my left hand decided to cramp up and hate me. It really hurts. My knees are also aching.
I'm letting a few friends read the alpha draft of a story I have wanted to write for a long time. (Because hooray, Google Docs!). I also think I want to slam out the whole book's rough draft before 2018, and then edit next year.
And I have a job interview for a design production job tomorrow, and that's super cool.
I'm also gonna go back to doing comic live streams on Saturdays. I miss doing comic stuff.
Taking a break on comic making to work on a crime drama novel for NaNoWriMo feels strange, but there’s only so much I can do in a single day, so eh.
I’ll hopefully bang out this novel quickly and then get back to comic making..and I’ll probably make a book design this month as a result.
I can’t begin to express how happy I am to make a composition where I can line up a sword with the italics of a font just right, pretty much immediately in the concept sketch stage, but I am.
I’m also pleased with sketching out a late-30s/early-40s-ish high elf with a demonic looking sword and a lot of swagger...(and the two unfortunate saps he’s dragging along for his mission.) I’m coming to like this guy’s character design.
Also, I can’t draw furries to save my life. Help me.
