For those of you awaiting chapter eight, dw it’s coming, but I do have to slow down a tiny bit. Or, well I have been. I had trouble writing out one scene (I finally got it to a point I’m happy with) and finals are this week for the semester (yay!!!!). So I gotta study.

Also, my period is hitting like a fucking semi and it’s cold in my home right now so my cramps feel 100x worse. I thought it would be lighter since I started a new Birthcontrol. It had other plans.

Had the most embarrassing dream the other night.

For me and only me, specifically.

Had a dream where my brain conjured up some kind of cycad and it had a seed cone and my dorky ass went and poked it and said “that’s a big ass ovule cone!”

And I can’t stop thinking about it. Like yes I wasn’t wrong but goddamnit just call it a seed cone like a normal person you stupid plant nerd. (It’s fine I’m majoring in it)

Man was that cringe as fuck.

Considering my irl name is already kind of oxymoronic at face value I could argue that I’m already there. (No you don’t get to know.)

I did a bit of looking up to check your theories. Yes. The lips are the nectary. Those red bits with yellow at the end are most likely stamens, with pollen. You can see some dispersed pollen granules dusted about if you really take a moment too, though yes the stamens are dying back in this photo.

That does look to be a gynoecium. It was also called a cup or a cyathia.

Flowers are in fact, fucking weird.

I say this from personal experience, but just because there’s an entirely male flower doesn’t mean the female flower is incapable of also having stamens. It be like that.

Yes it does appear that different parts emerge at different times, as the style isn’t even in present in one photo but the stamens have already fully emerged.

I knew poinsettias "faked" having big flowers by just turning some leaves red but I didn't know the real tiny flowers in the middle looked like such idiots
